Great video. I had never seen holsters wrapped before. I have a ton of leather, suedes, perforated leather, etc. that I got from a giant shoe manufacturer. I may try some of those out, and see how it goes.
I'm gonna try to use the cordura multicam on an old holster. .qvo tactical sells cordura wrapped sheets of multicam kydex, but pretty sure they just used a spray adhesive on a sheet of kydex, ,..
Great info and glad you are there. I have a question that has been bugging me for some time. It is the application of 1.5 oz leather like "Glazed Pig Lining" on the Kydex. I was thinking on using that type of leather with a spray type of adhesive like 3 Rubber And Vinyl 80 Spray Adhesive or Loctite spray adhesive high performance. Also could I still put it in the oven if I work up the temp slowly? Thanks.
Nope. We can't afford to take the time to make these. We sell small suede patches that the customer can apply wherever they want on the holster to improve their individual comfort. It's more cost/time effective for both parties.
Been a month since I bought the suede patch from yall. Good shipping and all from you guys so props! Sadly, should of gone on Amazon and bought a big sheet instead of two 3x3 from you guys. Liking the extra grip on it. Very nice on the side of my ass. :)
As an ideal temperature for kydex in the electric oven, it is dangerous for it to soften to the point of nailing in the glove or in the eva of the press
I made a couple of leather wrapped kydex holsters about 2 weeks ago for a guy, Kind of the same. He wanted the look of leather and the snap of kydex (his words not mine). I did make it in two pieces and then press it together with glue to hold them together But like you said, it takes to much time and in my case I have to make a kydex holster and a leather holster, two complete holsters and put them together so it doubles the price. you know what that does for costumers approval rates
I noticed that adhering the suede to .060 Kydex resulted in quite a thick product. Would you recommend going down to a .028 width Kydex to compensate for the suede??
Any issue with it peeling up? I used the non adhesive and just spray glue such a pain. But I did also have to run a lighter along edges to keep from fraying
OK Safty Tip suede and leather Dust is very, very carcinogenic so you really really need to use extraction and resperators fro sanding and buffing its lighter Dust so will also stay in the air a long time and travel a long way if no contained
This is timely... I was going to start experimenting with spray on adhesives and synthetic suede material I found at a hobby shop... This self-adhesive stuff looks great, and much thicker than the fabric I have. Too bad they don't sell Multicam suede!

Looks solid, great for rubbing against suit coats with owb holsters compared to straight up kydex.

Might be able to use a leather edger to smooth that over better but it's probably not worth the expense.

what is pro and contra to using faux suede for inner or outside lining. any one have critical issued with it?
