- Here is a video I put together from the last hill climb of the season and before the engine gave up! It's the mighty Black Pearl, Car 01 from the Rust 2 Rome car rally. There is really no shame to it as it's done many track days, hill climbs and three trips to Rome and back! For those interested it's a later 6.0 V12, standard internals, larger throttle bodies, full equal length tubular exhaust, full race camshafts, aftermarket ecu and ignition, lightened clutch and pulleys, using a Getrag manual box with a racing clutch, 3.54 diff and a whole load of suspension modifications too! Hope you enjoy the sound in the video :-)

The two downshifts at the end were glorious. It made me hit the replay button .
Same same XD. I've just been going through xjs videos hoping for someone to redline it to see if I could hear a bit of the old F1 sounds for a sec. Those downshifts were fn amazing
My only regret is there is not a LOVE button to hit, instead of LIKE!!!!.....I blundered on not buying a 87 XJS with 86k on it...for 2500 bucks!!...No rust...once in a life time deal!!....I just...paused...and it was gone!!!...Slept on it, like an idiot...next day it was sold, ofcourse.....months ago...i think of it everyday...its why Im here!!>

i swear i can't be the only one with a love of the 80s and 90s european high performance machines? like these jags, porsche 928 and 944, e28 and e34 5 series, e30 and e36 3 series, mercedes benz sl cars, lotus espirit, lancia 037, and of course the 328 and countach and such. Its such a strange time an sports car history where they're not old enough to be the pure racing titans like the 60s, but not sleek or sexy by modern standards, theyre not fast, most are ridiculously complicated and expensive to maintain, nobody except other car people give a shit about em, but for some reason they never cease to get me excited
This is the best video on RUclips. Seriously. The XJS V12 is, and always has been my dream car. This is just bloody brilliant. Hearing that Jaguar V12 scream is blood curdling! A collector near me own's a very, very early, pre HE, P reg factory manual. No wood, one of 400ish made using the e type 4 speed before they dropped it and has the black "flash" across the bootlid next to the plate. If that car ever comes up for sale, I will move heaven and earth to buy it. Thanks for this video!

You cant use any V12 Jaguar because these engines are made fom material made in India and drop valve seats any 20.000 KM!!!!

Sounds brutal. The 6.0 litre engine was put into some of the late xjs and xj40 cars. My xj12 doesn't sound anything like that though lol

Any more info on the race cams? Did you grind the stock cams? Also what is the aftermarket ignition you're using?

Hey Jacob, I'm using an Emerald ECU and Rob Beere Race cams... It does sound good especially past 5000rpm where it pulls hard! Good luck with your XJS project :-)

Christopher Nagy Do an exhaust mod. I replaced the downpipes all the way up to the mufflers on mine and the sound suddenly changes from a bus to a Lamborghini V12, albeit not as much as you see in the video. Definately some minor/major engine modifications you see on that example. Yes, ONLY if mine had a manual though...
They're loud I remember Walkinshaw at Bathurst and the Jag XJSs in 85
And to think, there was a time when I could have bought one of these beasts for less than $10k US. I still kick myself for listening to my dad who said it would be too much car for me to insure and maintain.

The S in the XJS is for Solidarity. To even the odds with the working man all these Jags had 1000lbs of lead cast on the floor plate.

PayDroification he must have independent throttle bodies or something with a big hole, that's how you get the nice scream even from a lowly Toyota pickup. he has lots more goodies no doubt

Sounds AMAZING (it's a bent 12 of course) but boy it looks a big old girl on that course.... not perhaps an ideal car for a hill climb but the world is a better place for someone doing it anyway !!! Bravo Sir, Bravo.
