The Future - A MUCH Better Gumball Finale

- The Future was supposed to be the season premiere of Gumball but upon reflection & the mixed reception of the actual finale "The Inquisition", this works so much better as a finale in hindsight.

SERIES SUMMARY
The Alpha Jay Show reviews animation episodes, animated TV movies, cartoons, and other things as a main series. I have reviewed many things from Fairly Oddparents to SpongeBob to Teen Titans Go to The Amazing World Of Gumball and many more. Expect a fair, open-minded and non-pandering review of whatever episode I use. Bear in mind while I do use copyrighted material, it is highly likely that my content falls under the legal defense of fair use.

🎶It's bright 🎶
I thought it would of concluded the show on a better note. The last episode's cliffhanger left a sort of bitter taste in my mouth.
Hi
*_[🎵Here we are in the future and it's bright!🎶]_*
Alpha Jay Show I’m terrified of THE FUTURE
My theory is that when time passes and we forget about the show; the entire world of Gumball will be thown into the void, thus kickstarting a movie
The Void.
On one of the episode I can’t remember the name but gumball, Darwin and Anais discover Barbra’s paintings and at the end we see a painting on how gumball and his family are running from the void trying to find a way to escape
I’m assuming that’s going to be season 6 or possibly the plot for a movie
@@Speedythe9001 you mean season 7 right
Speedy -9001 that episode is The Oracle
Like invader zim or rockos modern life?
Unrelated to the episode, sorry, but relevant to current Gumball news - I have a theory.
That the Awesome Truck Guy is selling the World's Mistakes, like from the Void, and that it's why Rob is a Nobody, when he SHOULD be a sidekick.
Considering the stuff the Awesome Truck Guy sells causes a bunch of issues, it seems like they might be the world's mistakes from the Void. That's why they're so rare and have bizarre abilities, they aren't mean't to be. Including the universal remote, or Sarah's notebook, they cause insane, universe altering abilities. That's why, instead of just breaking, Rob's universal remote DISSAPPEARS in a nearly digital fashion. Also explains why the back of the truck is so big, having multiple floors(beginning of the episode where Sarah has the notebook), if it's a portal of sorts, relating to the Void.
....which includes Darwin, who was a mistake. He's another mistake made by the world. He does the impossible and grows legs, sheerly on account of his heart. He's even a goldfish, putting him with a cat was a mistake. And he's been verified on several episodes as Gumball's sidekick, like the one with the quiz where Gumball realizes he's the Loser, or in the comic episode where Darwin is the Smooch, aka Laserheart's SIDEKICK, and then again in the episode where Darwin wants to take lead of the adventure and is sick of being a sidekick, where he ends up temporarily side-kicking for Alan.
Which is huge for Rob. Rob says in "The Rerun" he never wanted to be the villain to Gumball's hero - he wanted to be the SIDEKICK with his own plush toys, and of course Darwin has been used for plush toys.
The point of this theory is, Darwin was a mistake character who was sold to Richard, and took Rob's place of sidekick. Because that role is filled, Rob's reason to exist doesn't apply anymore, and he has no slot to fill, leading to everyone forgetting his name and him being removed from the universe and into the Void. That might even be part of why he can't bring himself to fully destroy Gumball - Rob has shown reverence of Gumball's heroism at times, he might still have some attachment from his role as sidekick. Might also be why he was compelled to go to the Watterson's house when he returned from the Void - in a sense, it's where he belongs.
Good Studd: Why does this comment not have many likes, it’s a great theory!
But that just a theory,a comment section theory.
Thanks for reading
Wow. Just wow. Amazing theory and underrated comment
I’m sorry I’m just had to say it ‘’The Awesome Store’’ not the awesome truck

I think the finale IS the perfect finale, just misunderstood because people wanted the show to follow a continuity.
It was never trying to. Everything about the ending is entirely symbolic.
Banana Barbara says "there is no future" next to what would eventually be the end of the show, this would in any scenario seemingly be her just being wrong. As she literally just painted the future right next to her, the end of the show.
the deteriation/destruction of Elmore is an analogy for a shows declining quality. Any show, if it runs long enough, will start to suffer in terms of quality. The literal destruction of Elmore is meant to represent that aspect, that now the show has simply reached its point. The quality is declining, as you yourself have mentioned, and its tiem for it to end before the horrible quality forces it to end.
Rob represents the fans, the fans who dont want it to end. The fans who petition for a show to stay running, the fans who want to keep a series going as much as possible. Him trying to stop the end of Elmore, is a stand in for a fan trying to stop the end of a show, or rather, the declining quality of a show. Trying everything they can think of to make it better and better.
On the other side of this coin, Gumball and Darwin act as Cartoon Network and teh creators, the people who know its time for the show to end, and while still scared of the idea of ending it, know its something that needs to happen. Even the comment of "see ya in the future Rob!" is basically the creator saying "See ya later fans, in my next project". And Banana Barbara turning and saying there is no future right next to a painting of the future, is meant to represent the fans as well. The oblivious fans who know they cant stop the show from ending, so instead they choose to remain in ignorance. They choose to turn away, to reject the ending thinking "theres gonna be more theres always more". The line "there is no future" is meant to imply that they aren't gonna move out of the present. There is no future for Gumball. Its over. So its better to remain in the present. To ignore the future. but, the future is right there. Notice how before she says that, she is turning away from the painting that literally depicts the future.
Wow. Just, wow. I don’t even know how I feel about this. The way you explained it to me makes the show feel complete yet incomplete. It feels like the show doesn’t need a movie to explain how it ended or going in depth with it
Oh....Well the annoucement of a 7th season kinda ruined all the symbolism in the finale, but at least the fans got what we've wanted
the
inquisition
is
not
the
true
finale
it
is
just

into
a
movie
The show is on indefinite hiatus since a movie hasn't been announced yet. But the Creator did say theres gonna be a movie of sorts eventually
The movie should be about all the characters except rob trying to escape the void but fail
So,
The final episode?
"tiinttfiijmtliam"
for anyone curious enough
It's still a bad show finale.
When Banana Barbara says “There is no future....” it’s connected to when Gumball and Darwin get a message from the universe. The universe was most likely gonna give them a warning about the future. The last clip at the last episode is where it all actually happens.
¿A que te refieres con "el universo"? Por que se supone que el que controla el espectáculo es el vacio
Honestly there HAS to be a movie on the way.
Right?
That's what i'm hoping
Don't worry i kidnapped banana Barbra and had her paint the movie buuut it might be a little um googly eyed dumb
Right?
Hope my friend my friend
And sign petitions
There'd better be.
I loved "The Inquisition", primarily as it followed-on from this one (like Superintendent Evil at the end) and had a really great blend of story and comedy. Plus, it brought us a live-action character that worked excellently with the show's style! Even the ending, with the distorted music and cliffhanger of Rob falling into the void, was super tense and left me wanting more.
...however, I had no idea it was meant to be the finale until AFTER I had seen the episode. So all along I was just judging it as "another episode".
i think it would've been a pretty decent casual episode but as a finale no just no
I hope TAWOG Gets either a movie,"The Inquisition" Part 2,a special or even a season 7.
Whichever one we get, I hope they end it with:
- Gumball, his family and friends saving Elmore
- everything going back to normal
- an extended rewrite of The Elmore Song

Rega that’s a cool idea
The finale was perfect. There's an explanation that proves how self aware the show is.
If anything, "The Inquisition" might have been prophetic. Rob was trying to warn everyone about cancellation, and that the show would have to change for the most casual to be able to catch on with a more mainstream CN audience, and the show mindlessly refusing to listen brought itself to an end.
People have to understand one thing: some creators can be entitled to their own shows and want them to continue over and over and over. This is why sometimes they will set up extra villains who goes nowhere, cliffhangers un-answered, and hundreds of questions. But this is as much "planned" as the show keeps getting more money.
"The Inquisition" was just them reaching the final episode and nothing being confirmed by the channel yet. So how do you get attention and people requiring the "True Ending"? You end on a cliffhanger. But turns out: sometimes the executives don't buy it. Think about most canceled shows. If you end every season satisfyingly, no outcry.
What does a creator want? "Please give us a movie or another season CN!", just that.
Kind of the same thing with Disenchantment. Set up 10.000 dumb cliffhangers and people will ask naturally for more.

Imo this would've been a bad finale since it was made as the build-up and it's amazing at what it does but build-ups are by definition meant to be incomplete, which just would not work as a series finale for me, you could argue that the inquisition also feels incomplete but it at least ends just before the end rather than before before the end if you get what I mean (also as a side-note I personally think the rest of the episode is pretty fantastic, it just makes sense to me that the final episode of a show as cartoony as Gumball would involve the realisation of their abnormality and the deconstruction of their animated nature, as much as I'd prefer if it was the whole town rather than just the school. It's not a perfect series finale, and I do really hope the movie ends up happening so the series can be fully conclusive, but it does so much right that I can't dislike it.)
Agreed. J think the finale season should have been more serialised, and the finale building up to something.

Yep
3:50 I think she did know and the void is what foreshadows what happened at the end when pieces of the universe started disappearing, just showing static and the static must have meant that soon, everything disappeared and TAWOG doesn’t exist anymore.

The inquisition was meant to lead into a movie special, which we might get soon.
I know you like covering other shows too but THANK YOU for still covering Gumball
No problem!
6:54 Rob assisting Barbra to paint is paradoxical in that she's prophesizing what he's forcing her to paint, causing them to come into fruition.
6:34 That actually gives me a theory. What if the last few seconds of The Inquisition, where Rob falls, then time stands still, it isn't actually for that cliffhanger feel, but, until the movie comes out, Elmore has been paused, since there's nothing after The Inquisition so far, as of me posting this comment. And, that painting of the Wattersons running away from chaos, while Barbara looks at the camera, as mentioned in Alpha Jay's review of The Inquisition, wasn't put in the actual show, because it's a part of the movie, after Elmore has been un-paused. This would make sense, seeing as Banana Barbara can paint the future, or as she would say, *Only what's left.*
Note: Please do not come at me for sounding like a full on conspiracy theorist, I'm not lol

A funny cartoon show ends to a unexplainable theory.
I think a great finale would have been the one with rob and that magical remote
I have a prediction of the ending for the gumball movie, gumball and his family tries to escape the void after falling in, but joe’s mother can’t do anything because she lost her abilities to paint the future. The wattersons successfully escapes the void then hug each other and then save Elmore. (THIS IS A GUESS)
Theory: what if Barbara is actually able to control the future for example she can make an astroid fly towards earth I'd she wanted to.
Controlling the future is literally what she does in the episode
@Insert Name ?
That burn up literally gave her super powers. I'm pretty sure the stress was her ascending trying to find inner peace.
Can we also just appreciate how good all these paintings are. Who painted them in the studio?
I know you don't care anymore....but here's a cool detail...the camera was shaking at the last scene then pointed to rob falling implying that someone was alive to hold the camera....I don't know what this means or maybe it probably means nothing....what do you think
The camera pointed?
The scene with Banana Barbara and Banana Joe hugging is amazing.
The finale we got works really well with a movie, not so well with an actual finale.
My theorie: every one is hoping to get a gumball movie, but months have gone by, and cartoon network still says nothing about the show, so we the viewers just well gave up about the show and moved on!
I think that's what it's all about. when you forget something like a show or memories from your past every thing just disappears!
I love Rob. He was obviously the good guy here but decided to take the burden by himself. He clearly changed when Gumball forgot his memories. He saw him as a friend finally.
Really, I just think we are exaggerating a bit, I mean, I think that Gumball is a bit on the air, after Ben announced he was leaving the show, and even though it wouldn't be the same without him it would be great too! And you guys, just know gumball is an amazing serie, it wouldnt end by the Inquestion, is too great for that short and sad final, I just wait for be a 7,8 or 9 season
There are quite a few people who can alter the universe, including banana Barbara, Richard, Sarah, the Watterson family, the creepy van seller and maybe clayton and Carrie, and Rob, of course. Certain characters like Larry and Alan are very important to keep Elmore in control, and the cops, too. I think at least a few of them will be involved with the movie.
Creo que tienes razón, pero yo pienso que es más banana Barbara que cualquier otro, por qué para empezar cuando pinta el futuro, es imposible cambiar el futuro o evitarlo, osea, va a pasar si o si. Gosh I just loved this episode when it first came out. From the ominous beginning when Rob kidnapped Barbara, to the uncertain ending when Barbara said "there is no future". Just brilliant 👌
Peoples see the future in the end with hints that it would be the finale, they see it and wouldn’t accept it, some make fan fictions to change it. If I remember on the show where Banana (forgot her name already) the first time with the painting of Gumball being humiliated, he tried so desperately to change it. But destiny kept it the same way. It was the same with the inquisition, only more terrifying and way less satisfying. But it just shows that no matter what you do to try and change it, it will always go back to that end. It’s kind of freaky
As much as i don't like the series finale i think the ending was more meta than people realize. Unless Gumball gets a special or movie, we have to assume that with the series finale coming to an end, they all go into the static. Even if they get a movie, once the credits start rolling, they'll get sent back to the void. For Gumball, there is no stopping the cease in production of TMWOG content. For Elmore, there is no happy ending.
