Although I love this episode I’ve never liked Sarah as a character. She scares me because there’s so many people - mainly girls - that are like this. Sarah honestly reminds me of those girls that harass and stalk my friends because they’re “otakus” and “can’t help it”. You can help it, you just don’t want to because you see being a fan of something as a personality and quirky. It’s not a personality, it isn’t cute or quirky, and it’s not an attractive thing to boil a human down to your dreamy ideals and harass them because of that. Treat people with respect. Point blank period.
I think the wrighters made Sarah to make some points serious because she is so unfunny they might use her in shows to make important messages like *STALKING* but I'm just guessing
I'm never gonna get over the Female Gumball and Darwin part where he's like "I thought I was wearing the pants in this relationship." Darwin's reaction makes it even better, lmao.
There could be a subtle refrence when she says that light could kill her, since the episode could be refrence to deathnote, it could also be possible that "light could kill me" is a refrence to death note, since Light is the name of the main character's enemy in death note
Honestly, I give a lot of props to this episode because it's showing that the writers behind Gumball are aware of their fanbase. It's honestly such a revolution in the animation industry.

The copy-cats. I love that episode too as I was aware of Miracle Star before that episode aired. Apparently it started off as a milk product which then became its own show and I love how that even though the creators couldn’t legally get access to the Miracle Star characters they draw their own versions
This episode is amazing because... I totally get it. I understand the craziness of shipping and OC's, and I know how common ships between siblings is. These writers know what they're doing, I even get the faces Shara's making; I know that shipping look.
@Vexa Grimwoe gumball and darwin aren't really brothers tho, sure they were raised to see each other as such but they're not related by blood, so it's not really incest
I mean... 15 year old me would have flipped my shit and have been absolutely ecstatic had any of my god awful characters got into a show they were "made for". I wouldn't see it's mocking I would have been awestruck. Though I do look back and cringe pretty bad when I look at those characters.
@Smazmix wikis are typically written through gathering bits and pieces of information throughout the show, so there’s a chance someone found that Elmore was in CA by watching an episode of the show (I think I’ve even seen proof but I don’t remember where or what episode it was from)
This is by far one of the best episodes in the show. Not only they managed to use pop-culture without looking ridiculous or dated, but they also managed to make fun of certain things on the Internet, and certain attitudes of the otakus, without malice or pregiudice. The jokes are great and they incapsule many concept that are hosè,but softened for theyre younger odience. To my eyes, the amazing world of gumball is the new family guy,but with greater humor and without malice in it. 10/10 This is how a reference or parody episode should be managed!! Thank you for reviewing it.
Alpha Jay Show Well, the rerun is awesome. Good choice! I realy like "the choices" Because it explain why Richard is actualy very important in the life on Nicole, and does not depict him as the classic stereotipical fat dad that other shows decided to use, without actualy explaining why these extremely talented womens decided to stay with them, despite being burdens to theire lives. I also realy love "the shell";and "the pet"....for some reason I find it ilarious, especialy the ending!! XD
This shows finale will be an existential nightmare crisis. Gumball and inevitably the entire town will learn that their show, and therefore their lives, are coming to an end and they'll end up playing out loads of ridiculous plots in order to desperately keep it going and it will all fail and be very sad.
I honestly like the later seasons of gumball better. The art style is much cleaner and the jokes appeal to my sense of humor a lot more. But that’s just me.
Watching this episode was super weird for me. I am a super weeb, so watching it kinda made me feel attacked but also not at the same time. It was so accurate that it began to hurt. But was so funny that the pain of laughing overweighted the pain of how cringy it made me realize I am.
@@SarahTheBreadGod It used to be a bad term but these days it's just used for those obsessed (heavily into) with Japanese culture, specifically things they produce like animes, games, or figurines.
Such a good episode. The self-awareness is as on-the-ball as it ever was, and the actual writing is so damn good. It's pretty damn funny how literal the universe-altering book is. Someone likened it to the Death Note in that it's best used when the writer clearly describes the scenarios instead of just the outcome. In Death Note, if someone simply writes the name of the person they want to die, they just die from a heart attack. If they, however, explain that they die by falling off a thirty-story building, then that's how they die. Same principle here. One thing about Gumball that I've seen growing more and more commonplace lately is that it puts the spotlight on people within the fanbase. But for the writers to actually pick out members in the fanbase and give them a few seconds of fame is pretty cool, and shows how attuned they are with the fans. And that tweet complaining about this one trait of the episode is asinine. There was no malicious intent behind including those OC's in this episode, just like there was no malicious intent with The Copycats. If anything, it's a show of flattery, amusement and endearment. And the way I see it, the writers are more than entitled to use fan art of _their own work_ . It _would_ be nice if they acknowledged the origins of the fan art, but they're not required to. Anyway, good stuff as always, Jay.
The One and Only C. R. Martin you also have to have a picture of the person in your mind while writing their name (and/or the way you want them to die)
Ashley S On top of that, if you describe their death, it has to be within the realm of possibility to happen(for the victim) or else they die of a heart attack as usual.
Hey Alpha! I should let you know that the creators of the characters were credited in due time after the episode was released (I believe on Twitter). The creator of "Albexandra," the OC of Darwin's alternate self has made a video and that everything was cool! I think people bash on others too much for their own insecurities of what other people think of "fanart" since what they create is essentially also being mocked but indirectly, so it can be taken as a personal insult but out of anger that really doesn't need to be there. Great review though! As a fellow Sarah-like person, I can happily give it a thumbs-up because I really like Sarah-focused episodes! Glad the warzone ain't a bloody one!
ikr and (i’m in these fandom so i can say it XD) Unlike the Undertale, Eddsworld and Steven Universe fandoms there aren’t really that much shipping wars and the fandom is kinda chill
I like Sarah but not totally as a character but as the trope character. She sorta has that Deadpool 4th wall awareness, she knows the tropes, she helps to further subvert them, parody them, but at the same time enforce them to help keep the status quo as seen when Tobias became the main character. And that's her main thing so I can see why her gags are always the same when the show isn't totally focused on her. I really hope they do a breakfast club type thing with her. They have to.
I second this, I've always enjoyed the Sarah episodes because of how aware she is. It's less that the episodes are funny, but that I enjoy watching the creator have fun with the show.
She always seemed to me like a Batmite type character. Someone with unexplained powers within the universe to break the 4th wall and influence the universe, while also being aware that the universe is a show.
I love how Donut Cop is too stupid to be corrupted. XD I guilty of shipping myself, but in this episode Sarah is shipping people who are her real neighbors so this is just weird for me.
As an active and avid fan creator (mostly writing fanfic) I think it's kind of funny, the way they handled fanwork. The strange OCs made me laugh because typically I don't do inserts but I remember reading them a lot when I was younger and finding i some OCs hilarious. I like that they kind of just had some meta fun with the idea of shipping characters together (sadly even Gumball and Darwin, not drawing the line at incest I see) and the overdramatic wording fanfiction can use. (My personal favorite being the "orbs" infestation) Overall it was silly and fun and in character while still not being disrespectful to those who do enjoy the show and make their own media with it.
This episode just feels like a better version of some of those TTG episodes that make fun of detractors of the show. The creators actually create a story that could introduce these elements they want to make fun of that makes sense in the context of the show, they introduce said elements, crack some good jokes, and move along to continue with the story. It's not like TTG where they just stop everything they're doing, some random guy shows up on a TV screen, and lectures them about why they suck, and then having the Titans make the most unsubtle remarks possible just to irk people. Gumball's creators just know how to make light of a situation while TTG's creators just plug their ears for an entire 11 minute episode.
I strongly agree. Just like South Park did an episode about Tweek and Craig and asked everyone for fanart of the two because they knew about the ship and want to make an episode dedicated to it. It's not to mock it, it's to have fun with it.
Right. Every time they do that, all they're saying is "Oh we don't care". It's nowhere near as clever and funny as gumball's references. In TTG they just apply the words " we STILL don't care" to the words "we don't like you." In TAWOG they use the internet's art In a creative way.
I always hated how petty and spiteful those episodes of TTG were. Like they strawman the criticism, then dedicate the episode to saying how stupid the criticism is and basically say "hey, fuck you" to those people. Though I think the show has improved somewhat, I don't think they deserve the credit and popularity (among kids) that their show has given them, due to their poor attitudes.
oh my god gumball's reaction to the anime couple literally had me laughing for like a minute straight. was not expecting that reaction and it's perfect
I just realized why Sarah's writings became canon. The book has the CN logo. Whatever she writes in THE CN book becomes canon in the CN universe itself!
@@TheAlphaJayShow its definitely a reference to Death Note, the story is the main character has a notebook will kill anybody written down in it. This episode explicitly references it, the faces Sarah makes before she starts writing in the book are the faces Light makes when he does in DN, and the song during the title card is actually a parody of L's leitmotif.
It left me dumbstruck with the mention of the Gumball x Carrie ship that floated around the internet for a really long time. I think at some point, that AU had Gumball and Carrie with, and this is an estimate, about 20 children. Each one somehow being different. Like, holy shit. A bit much. But then the show itself had to go and mention it outright. That fucking killed me. Then there's the anime marriage scene.
I'm sorry you hate Sarah that much. I can understand it. But as someone who knows a lot about these types of people, I love Sarah. The writers put a lot of refrences to fandoms, OC's etc. in her which are very funny to notice if you get them.
The way I see it, personally, Sarah was never really meant to be a likable character. She's the embodiment of the worst aspects of anime fans, weebs, shippers, comic fanboys, and Tumblr users. You know, the kinds of people that are normally hated in real life. And I say that as an anime fan
Also....this episode is full of death note references. Sara's face when she is using the diary, the effects of the diary and even a remix of L's theme. Pretty cool right?
The remix of the theme is during the title screen and when gumball is using the diary also the way Sara found the diary,it's similar to the way Light found it.
I like to think that the CN logo on the notebook means that it doesn't just stop at Gumball but has power over all Cartoon Network shows; the only reason "The Shippening" stops at Gumball characters is because Sarah's frame of reference doesn't extend beyond Elmore. Were that not the case, Sarah (or anyone) could just as easily have written stories that change the Land of Ooo, Beach City, Townsville, the Eds' cul de sac, Foster's Home, etc. (They're all brought together in that Uncle Grandpa short after all, and maybe that also explains "Say Uncle" - notice how the book is already half-way open when Sarah begins writing. Not to mention that with the Void, Gumball characters have a means through which they can be ejected beyond the confines of their own world.) Just a fun observation I had, since the importance of the CN logo isn't elaborated on in the episode leaving scope for these ideas.
LeCoolFace Since you're someone who scrolled through a RUclips comment and make things personal because of a small reference to a cartoon you don't like, your people skills are in doubt.
I think this whole episode is a reference to the "The Twilight Zone" episode "A World of his Own", where a playwright turns his thoughts into reality by speaking into a magical dictation machine.
Majestic Mo I find a lot of the Episodes of Gumball Enterainin even the new ones I like the characters and storys The jokes are funny too thats entertainment
I honestly really like Sarah as to me her purpose is the personification of the reality of a fandom. It may be creepy, messed up and complete stalker at times but its what a fandom can easily be, especially with younger audiences. Thus Sarah was born
I love The Shippening it perfectly describes Fanfictions Fan art and Deviantart stuff perfectly well and I like how Sarah is an Otaku (even doe she’s kinda creepy) and has weird shippings that are pretty entertaining!^-^
In my country they straight up forgot to upload the episode and 8 others to HBO GO,they allowed Rick and Morty,GOT uncensored,WestWorld,Adventure Time as well all in full hd but forgot to upload 9 full episodes of the Amazing World of Gumball what the heck ASTRO and HBO?
Oc's can not only weird people like me out, but the people who make them are cringey (like sarah) and obnoxious, i hate both oc's and the people who make them
Alpha Jay Show I'm curious as to whether that was a mistake you made multiple times or if it's a similar term that means the same thing like "Original Persona"?
I LOVE this episode because it’s funny to me to see everything go wrong and the different art styles in Sarah’s fanfictions and although I’m not _as_ obsessive as her and I don’t ship anything she accidentally made into reality I totally relate to how she acts -Also I do have character crushes in TAWOG....
Point blank period.
and also because shipping real people together is weird and freaky

when I saw this episode I immediately thought: "this is what happens when a shows fandom gets to much"
Such a good episode.

The Jokes: 10/10

Kaiquak but i thought she said she'd sue cn bc shit, they used her oc...
XD
I guilty of shipping myself, but in this episode Sarah is shipping people who are her real neighbors so this is just weird for me.
Well he is based off of Chief Wiggum.
I'll ship inanimate objects even, but I am so weirded out by people who ship like, actors or members from Fallout Boy or whatever. It's weird
Sadly I have observed cases of shippers doing that with real people. (who weren't portraying fictional characters)
As an active and avid fan creator (mostly writing fanfic) I think it's kind of funny, the way they handled fanwork. The strange OCs made me laugh because typically I don't do inserts but I remember reading them a lot when I was younger and finding i
some OCs hilarious. I like that they kind of just had some meta fun with the idea of shipping characters together (sadly even Gumball and Darwin, not drawing the line at incest I see) and the overdramatic wording fanfiction can use. (My personal favorite being the "orbs" infestation)
Overall it was silly and fun and in character while still not being disrespectful to those who do enjoy the show and make their own media with it.
Except that gumball and Darwin have more of a "bros" relationship than a brothers relationship.
Fun fact, the word on Sarah's shirt is Otaku
Lightning6475 Oh geez.
Amazing World of Gumball is 100x better than Teen Titans Go so what’d you expect.
Right. Every time they do that, all they're saying is "Oh we don't care". It's nowhere near as clever and funny as gumball's references. In TTG they just apply the words
" we STILL don't care" to the words "we don't like you." In TAWOG they use the internet's art In a creative way.

Not to mention that with the Void, Gumball characters have a means through which they can be ejected beyond the confines of their own world.)
Just a fun observation I had, since the importance of the CN logo isn't elaborated on in the episode leaving scope for these ideas.
