Brings back so many wonderful memories of singing in our choir for many years. We did this music numerous times. It never gets old because it tells the beautiful story of Jesus and what he sacrificed for us. Some of the most beautiful arrangements ever.
Our church performed this musical with actors as a Passion play for 13 years in a row with 8 performances each year. God used it mightily to reach folks for him. We stopped because our actor that played Jesus could no longer do it. It was very taxing on his body. I will always remember the special times associated with this passion play. The cast would go to a room and pray for those in attendance at the end of each performance. The very first performance when we were praying we all started singing “I love you Lord.” It was so so special!!
Yes. I too believe "The Day He Wore My Crown" to be the greatest Easter Cantata ever, and probably will be for some time to come. I remember the first time our choir at First Baptist Logan, Ohio presented this cantata. We had the cassette for instrumentation and our choir memorized the whole cantata. Oh what an experience. We only had about 35 members and few with much musical background. We were asked to come to a church in New Lexington, Ohio and present this cantata. We were in shock. We went and at the end. A lady came forward and gave her life to Jesus. Oh what a wonderful experience to touch this lady's life. Thank you Jesus for using us in such a mighty way. Watch over this lady and keep her close to you always. Memorizing the music and the Lord's anointing made this so amazing. The duet "Calvary" says it all.
We did this one when I was a teen. The adult choir let us teens join them in the living cross. It was life-changing. Thanks so much for posting and reminding me of this magnificent experience of my formative years!
What a blessing it is to hear this, so many years after I first heard these wonderful songs and the narration that follows the Biblical account of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
My favorite Resurrection musical, and Behold the Lamb my favorite within it. Thank you, Dottie Rambo, for writing it and David Clydesdale for arranging it so powerfully!
LOVE, LOVE David Clydesdale cantatas. This brought back fond memories. Started doing his cantatas in the 80s with my church choir in the Philippines. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wouldn't this be wonderful to be able to have live drama added to this. Lots of work. But worth it.

Personally, I consider "Then Came Sunday" the best Easter cantata ever written. However, this one is a very close second!
May Christ Jesus be glorified!
My late husband was in this cantata the first Easter we were dating
So I play it Holy Week of every year at this time:
