Dina you do NOT have to get veneers. Bonding is super easy and can be literally done on any teeth. I work in dentistry and that person is talking bs I hope you see this comment. Find someone you can go to and bring them a picture or describe how much longer and what shape you want, tell them you just want some composite bonding. And if they try to tell you veneers pick a different guy. Wish you were in NYC you could come to my office.
If they do veneers they literally prep away the front and either side of your teeth like 1.5mm and all your enamel is gone... so if you ever chip it your dentin and prepped cut up tooth is exposed. For some people it makes sense but my personal opinion is that bonding and orthodontics is so much nicer/healthier and low maintenance and can give you similar result. Ascia's veneers look great though no shade.
lezlie maarcker I did the bonding but I can tell you that it chipped on me too. So annoying. and also the color becomes yellowy. And at the top of the tooth there is space between the bonding and gums so food can get stuck there...thats because the bonding after a while shrinks, so a couple millimeters distance can occur. Asci's veneers look wonderful. I see them a lot vut some people have them too thick so they talk a little weird. Ascia does seem to have them very thin.
I don't know what material they used on you but if you use a superior composite it shouldn't shrink. The shrinkage if any occurs when you're light curing it at the office. The stain or change in color in your teeth is probably surface stain because composite bonding is a substance that will etch and erode with acidic foods and then stain with drinks etc like coffee. Next time you're in the office ask them to go over your bonding with the smoothing disks they (should have) used when they did them, it should smooth away the surface stain and give you the original shade beneath. Also, veneers can chip too. When you have any kind of aesthetic product on your anterior teeth you have to be careful with them. In terms of the space at the top, you may have gingival recession from natural aging or perio disease. It doesn't shrink down and away over time. So you have recession if gums or somehow you chipped the top. That's def not "normal" so you should go back to your dentist and ask them to touch it up.
Ok maybe its gums reciding then. I have composite and I believe its a very good quality. They put it on my teeth and then modelled it there and then. Not premade. I did get them smoothed out but no grand difference. The chipping is for example in the gap between two teeth. And if the chipping was from biting too hard then it wouldnt be between two teeth. It would be at the bottom of the tooth. Im not happy with it.
