@@sebastianandres6802 Yeah I am frankly tired of this communities hatred for steve. They cry so much that its just tiring. It just feels privileged because it feels like people complain more about steve than brawl meta knight or smash 4 bayo.
@@kayden2119Steve hard carries and thats why everyone hates him, you have randoms entering tournaments with steve and beatin top 20 players. I personally havent seen that with Brawl MK and Smash 4 Bayo 💀

Leo doesn't play byleth in the MU bc Acola 3-0'd him in the last summit and said in his podcast that Steve can foot stool anvil out of shield byleth's nair for free and he just believes joker does better w his movement and gun
i honestly thought he was using aegis more again for steve, most steve players like acola and onin and them as one of steves worse matchups, whether thats a losing matchup or not it seems like a very good option. still surprised he hasnt even tried it yet
byleth has other moves that has so much range it cant be footstooled tho
in comparison to joker whos moves even if spaced correctly i believe can always be footstool down aired aside from maybe f tilt
Nairing into shield is one of the bad habits Leo has in general that costs him games. Every time he plays Shuton, Shuton picks up on this habit and punishes him repeatedly. Joker still seems like he struggles more bc his bair has to hit blocks 3 times to break and it's not spaced very far away whereas byleth fair takes 2 to break blocks and is safely away from getting Steve f smashed. I love Leo but I don't agree with some of his opinions bc he also said that he thinks Joker beats Kazuya but he always gets brutally destroyed when he plays Joker against Riddles
Acola 3-0ing him doesn't change the fact Byleth out ranges and destroys blocks easily. Still a bad reason to not play Byleth since in every aspect Byleth dominates. Should stop nairing on people's shield as well. Joker easily gets footstool daired due to his low range. Don't overestimate the top players sometimes their game decisions are just dumb

Bro shiney marks other matches were hype, but against sonic you have to play so carefully and patient that there's going to be a timeout. he has cool playstyle. shiney mark is my goat 🐐🐐🐐
Honestly Sonix’s other matches were pretty hype too (at least against Cosmos and Shadic), but ig when two campy characters collide camping is unavoidable
@@revengeoftheshreks1860 I think the craziest part about all of it was people complaining that Sonix was playing carefully against Pikachu at top level. As if not a single person has ever had to deal with Pikachu's unpunishable ass options.

The timeout fest was so rough to watch in grands
Once upon a time grands was always the hypest video of the tournament
Now I'm realizing that a big reason is because grands always had Leo
Now the permanent fixture of grands is... Sonix lmao
Honestly I thought the time outs in Grands were really hype. It made the end of each game very tense. Also Shinymark not winning a major before definitely helped that tension for sure but I genuinely enjoyed it
@@Ryanjedi the last minute of a timeout game can be hype if it's really close. To me that doesn't outway the super slow 6 minutes beforehand. Timeouts can be enjoyable in some scenarios, but when you know from the character select screen how most matches will drag it kills it for me. Probably just a symptom of a game towards the end of it's life cycle but still a bummer to a lot of smash fans.
@@OdaGoda957its just an ultimate problem, dont know any other fighting game or even smash game that has timeouts as a win strategy as often as ultimate
@@stevenhu4215Honestly. He was playing pretty aggressively, or at least as aggressive as you can be as Sonic. The issue is that Shinymark was able to match his pace, and Pikachu has more options to open up combos and conversions.
Simoultanously the comeback and fall of Mkleo at this one.
Sonix is still yet to get any placement other than 2nd at a tournament in 2024...
Shadic vs spargo set was amazing

Is it just me or all Steve players I see besides Acola, finish the matches all stressed out after doing minecart and down air for most of the match

Acola also does Minecraft down air most of the match. Especially on games 4 and 5.
@@Diddykong8775 I know he does, but he usually looks chill while playing, most of the other Steve players like Onin look completely stressed out like they were fighting for their lives and the match was like a 2 stock haha just looks funny to me
@@jpag92 it might look easy but its actuallly very hard and stressful. a top player like mkleo is just so calm its eery. hes like a robot. us steve players are used to minecraft and chilling. we aint robots.

So 1 second of you watching marss is 2 seconds of the video, where each second is 1.5 seconds of gametime :) so 2 times 1.5 which just makes 3

I didn't think this match was as miserable as everybody else did; seeing Pikachu in grands was kinda a breath of fresh air. Pikachu, being a character that can keep up with Sonic in terms of movement options, led to some pretty cool moments like fighting underneath the stage and other cool off stage shenanigans . And as for timeouts, they weren't really timing each other out; it felt more like they played to time because both characters live forever since they can get back on stage really easily..
They live so long cause they don't interact. Has little to do with their recoveries.

I have barely watched any smash in 2024, but I did watch this top 8. If this is the hottest tournament so far as the title of this video says, then I saved myself valuable hours, if not days of my life. We need the next smash game.

There were incredibly hype moments that got drowned out by the reality that this game is pure ass. Most of the best moments happened before top 8.
And im glad i didnt watch it either. My time is to valuable to waste on Steve/Sonic/Pikachu
These time out matches will be the death of smash. Nobody wants to watch that shit - let alone play against it.

Steve is easily healthy for the meta. Delusional people think sonic and pikachu are better.
The highlighting in this video has me conflicted, because it made these sets a lot of fun to watch, but especially Spargo Sonix and Shinymark I noticed most of the actual runtime was cut. I feel like I appreciate Steve as a spectator more every day, and, 6:13 especially, Mars' coverage of the first set really solidifies why. At the top level he's unique, has a lot of player expression, and has the most interesting counterplay dynamics out of the whole cast, even if he slows the game down in advantage, he's electric in neutral. He's more interesting than Pythra and more dynamic than Sonic.
Counterplay? Steve never has to worry about playing differently for each matchup. It's all the same. 😂
I'm glad that shinymark took it but it still sucks that Steve and sonic pretty much defined the meta to the point that the best characters are the ones who can play keep-away the best. He played that set super lame but it's okay because he was against the king of super lame.

That is something that will happen at some point in time not only because is usually the most optimal way of winning but also when you have such a large community like Ultimate by default means that there will be more players that play to win at all costs.
And we shouldn't really insult them for that, if it's in the game people will exploit it

NGL, final game timeouts are hype I'm the moment, especially when it's close because of how tense it is. It's just not nearly as good of a watch after the fact, when you know who won already.
The smash community does it again coping so hard thinking their game isn’t dogshit. I have never enjoyed a game more but the current state of the game combined with the state of the community is just in shambles. Steve and sonic timeout games are not hype stop coping for the love of god
