Yeah there's loads of reenactment groups. Lots of English civil war and wars of the roses. My friend works at a place called Butser Farm which has Britain through the ages. So theres iron age round houses, a Roman villa, Saxon/Viking house and mead hall, later medieval long houses. Every year they burn a huge wicker man which is very cool. The battle of towton is a big reenactment near York. I think that was the bloodiest battle fought in Britain. If you ever come to England visit Yorkshire and the north east it's all there. Viking York. Lots of later medieval castles and monasteries like Fountains Abbey. Not far away from Hadrians wall
There used to be a war and peace show in Kent and a bunch of people would dress up as German soldiers and English soldiers reenacting the fights 😂 it was great fun. No actual fights ever broke out. Great band playing old music from the ww2 era. Lots of stalls selling clothes that looked amazing. My uncle is part of an American Civil War re-enactment group, he plays the part of a Northern soldier from a Battalion/Division that actually existed so they are very accurate
Yes, but the LARP scene in the woods in which Mark unenthusiastically joins Dobby & Gerard isn't a re-enactment of a battle. It's more like a real-life version of a video game involving fictional creatures.

You felt bad for Jeremy on his stag when he was getting married to Nancy - Mark and Hans joked about her going with Hans. Also, Mark did a re-enactment with Daryl (the racist). Both in season 2 !
I used to do medieval reenactments when i was in my 20s, i would be part of the battle of Stamford Bridge every year, when the English army fought the Vikings prior to the battle of Hastings. Yes we definitely do have reenactments
I live in Worcester, England which is where the last major battle of The Civil War (technically the third Civil War as it happened in three parts) happened and from where King Charles II escaped. Re-enactments of the battles from that period happen all the time in and around the area as it's part of Worcester's heritage. The motto of Worcester is "Civitas in Bello et Pace Fidelis" - "The City faithful in war and in peace", because Worcester sided with the Royalist army against the Parliamentarians. Hey Boomer. I live in Hastings and yes, there are re-enactments of that and other battles. There's actually a small village called Battle, just outside of Hastings which is where most of the battle took place. Great pubs there.
In answer to the question about re-enactments, we certainly do. Locally we have the ruin of a large 360 room Tudor building called Basing House, built in 1535, that was laid siege to and destroyed by Cromwells forces in 1645 during the English Civil War (1642-1651). Most years the largest re-enactment society in Europe, The Sealed Knot, have re-enactments at the site. There are clips on RUclips.

I saw a not very historically accurate siege at Pevensey Castle when I was a kid, it was pretty badass. I think they have a fair at Herstmonceux Castle maybe every year that has stuff like that and jousting I think. Both these places are near where I live in Sussex.

There are Ghost Hunts on Medieval battlegrounds. My mum was due to go to the site, on the Battle of Edgehill, for the night. She sprained her ankle, two days before the Ghost Hunt and blamed the ghosts for not wanting her there...
Yes battle reenactments are very popular in the UK. For the past 60 years there has been an English Civil War reenactment on our local holiday Holy Holly Day. There is a procession of 1000’s of soldiers from my old school into the middle of town. Then a big battle reenactment that lasts for hours. Followed by a lot of drinking in the local pubs that existed at the time of the English civil war 400 years ago and more. But yeah we have medieval re-enactments and Roman reenactments. Going back 1000’s of years.
Since you revealed a little of what you and Queen have been going through, I felt for you during this episode. I hope you're both okay. The cult was based on Scientology. If you know the basics of Scientology, it's actually quite a funny dig at them...
So enjoyable watching your reactions to this epic show. The cult that Jeremy and Super Hans joined is a parody of ..well, they like to use legal intimidation, so best not mention them! In repsonse to whether the UK has battle re enactments- definately, years ago I was involved with a group and made the mistake of being part of a very small first aid crew in a massive battle re enactment involving horses, cannon, muscets and rubber tipped arrows as well as large men in armour sword fighting (first few injuries were close to eye injuries from sword fighting in the area of face not covered by armour!
I know ive discovered you a year or two late but yeah we do re-enactments, but they are nothing big in this country but do famous battles re-enactments on a small scale and Viking invasion ones happen alot in the north of England
I can't speak for re-enactment (pretty sure some of that goes on) but the LARp, Live Action Roleplay, that Mark was dragged along to, is a popular hobby.. the weapons might be rubber-encased to prevent injury but the armour, leather/chain/plate mail is real enough, as is the In-Character bar and alcohol. 😋 Mostly held on long/Bank Holiday weekends, hundreds of players descend on out-of-town Scout camps for some proper old fantasy shenanigans! 😃
You're right Mark and Dobby would make a great nerdy couple but he doesn't quite have enough game and confidence to pull it off. I feel his pain especially the Shoe Shopping episode where he has a real connection with the assistant then stalks her back to her University.
The game being played is not World of Warcraft. From what I understand, they are playing some game that may be made up for the show, but that falls under the Dungeons & Dragons umbrella. Warcraft and D&D are both fantasy universes. D&D is most commonly known for its Tabletop RPG, while Warcraft is most commonly recognized for its flagship title, World of Wacraft (even though the franchise started as a strategy game series). Nonetheless, both titles have historically been massive in "nerd culture", but have in recent decades managed to muscle their way into the mainstream. World of Warcaft is still moderately popular even after almost 20 years, while D&D recently blew away the gaming scene by launching Baldur's Gate 3, a highly-anticipated and now celebrated entry in the RPG sphere.
Yup, we have reincting battles, Hastings, Bosworth, Civil War etc etc, probably a few Roman vs Boudicca ones too. I've never been to one and probably never will, the jousting is great though and the medieval feasts🍖
There was a mention of Jeremy Kyle in this episode. It's very similar to Jerry Springer but British, if you can find episodes of the show definitely give them a watch (but it was cancelled so i don't think there's any full episodes on RUclips)

There are British Civil War which was between Roundheads and the Cavaliers re-enactment in U.K. ww2 as well
Since you revealed a little of what you and Queen have been going through, I felt for you during this episode. I hope you're both okay. The cult was based on Scientology. If you know the basics of Scientology, it's actually quite a funny dig at them...
YOU GOT TO SEE DAVID MITCHELL AND "JIM" IN "UPSTART CROW" ITS HILARIOUS!!! MITCHELL PLAYS A NEUROTIC SHAKESPEARE...😁😃🤓😅😂
Yeah reenactments are a thing in the UK, most common i've seen have been battle of hastings, english civil war and napoleonic wars stuff.
This is my most favourite episode of peep show
Hahahaha your face. That’s some superb comic timing Boomer
Your reaction to Johnson was pure gold 🤣
Thanks for the upload.
Comedian Fluffy does a bit on "black Siri" funny!!!
That certainly was a reaction and a half. lol
Yes there are medieval battle reinactors. And Roman ones. Look up the Sealed Knot.
I knew you'd love this episode. Johnson's so funny in this.
Are you gonna watch them all up to the end of series 9?
One of the earliest satires of Scientology.
Reenactments are big in US east...not much in West coast. ComiCon covers it!!! Documentaries have many historical renactments, Romans, too!!👍👍
Yeah we have reenactments over here. We actually do reenactments of American events as well such as the civil war.
Sophie trying to keep the man juice in 🤣
thanks i love this show never botherd to with it till you did reactions peeop show is funny asf
