thats brutal ! looks like its really put together tightly ... good thing the disassembler is a guitar player and has a lot of guitar picks handy to use as disassembly tools
Great video, thanks for getting a full disassembly and reassembly video up so quickly. Just two quick questions for you... 1) It appeared as though you didn't replace the screen's adhesive when putting it back together. Was that unnecessary in this case? What is stably holding the screen to the phone? 2) After opening the phone, especially the part when you remove the screen, does the phone lose its IP67 protection?
This was more of just how to take the phone apart. If you get a replacement screen, it may come with pre-applied adhesive, but it's a good idea to put in some of your own and melt that down.
This was fun. I followed along with my phone that I took surfing. It's definitely destroyed. The whole innards were coated with salt. I had to go through at least as far as you to see the inside of that phone, which was immaculately more clean. I could also see some dark areas where the suspected shorting occurred. I didn't use heat to loosen the screen. I did some major damage to it pulling it out.
I'm from Argentina and Samsung though it'd be fine to bring the S5 without 4G support. So: is there a change I can get LTE support adding a hardware o upgrading the software?
Hello! can i ask you somethnig..when i put the lcd screen back must i put on the frame new doublesided adhesive or heat it up again and push it down to stick to the same adhesive..?
Great video but a bit complicated for me to do. I really need advice, hence reason for watching your video.... My auto rotation stopped working on my S5. At first I took battery out and replaced which cured it for a few hours, then not working again. I did a standard factory re-set which again worked for a while... I then did the FULL re-set by holding three button in at same time. This again worked for a little bit then not working again. I took phone to a Samsung phone shop near me and they said the gyro sensor is on the motherboard and must be faulty so needed a new mother board and would cost £170 to be fixed. I looked on ebay and can get another motherboard for £35 guaranteed working. Do you think it is a motherboard that I need to permanently fix the phone? Hope you can help waddac2
Very well done. Where can I get a set of Gloves like that? For the "Professionals" commenting, what does your thermal non-contact meter read when you are peeling off surfaces? Hint: it's about a 3 degree C. range. Hats off to the video maker, Thank You. Everyone be sure to wear anti-static gloves and sunscreen. -Q
Yeah, this one was definitely opened before. It is way more difficult to open it. Not sure what antenna cables everybody talking about though. Also if you are careful it is quite difficult to rip any cables. also don't pull apart the screen with your fingers until it is separated from the frame everywhere. and yeah, a little glue in the middle of the screen. By the way, the Samsung original replacement screen comes with new adhesive attached, so no need to buy it separately. If you are using the original replacement part, of course. Overall this is a useful video.
That screen seemed ridiculously easy to remove, especially for a water resisitant phone. How much heat did you apply? (if you can quantify it without the use of a temp gun)
Don't be fooled by how easy he made that look, I am a Samsung certified tech and im telling you that the adhesive was removed prior to this video and the copper sheets wrinkled on the inside shows that the phone was opened before and the adhesive cleaned out
Jason Baksh So does this mean there are telltale signs that an S5 has had its digitizer replaced? I am sending my phone back to try to get warranty repairs after having a non authorized samsung dealer replace my screen. Is there any chance in your opinion that they won't know the screen has been replaced?
fattyspecial There are a few things that the repairer would have to have done. Use the pre cut screen adhesive, rather than just cut pieces of double sided tape and stick them around the edges. Same with the adhesive around your home button gasket. Also needs to not have added any supporting adhesive strips in the middle under the LCD. And then any damage/wrinkling of the original copper adhesive must match with the method the Samsung tech uses to remove the screen. It's possible, depends how much attention they pay.
Jason Baksh hello Jason 👋 I was watching this video to see if I could just take a look inside my phone to locate and find out if I have God forbid suffered any internal water damage that the little sticker on my battery can't detect. Obviously I won't be doing that. But for the past couple hours my phone is being EXTREMELY LAGGY. It will not turn off, the screen will stay on when I press the power button, my games are slow. It's just slow. It gets to working again for like 5-15 minutes than starts the process all over again. I've taken the battery out 2-3 times and no change. Do I have to get a replacement? Thank you
Hi TayLay Monet sorry for the long time i took to reply. The first thing you would want to do in a situation like this is to have the phone flashed or have the operating system reloaded. It sounds to me the way you have described it that you are having software issues. I've delt with tones of S5's and that doesn't sound hardware related.
I have a question, I've done a few glass only repairs on this phone but when applying the new glass, the home button doesn't seem to fit back in.. have you seen this issue?
To replace my scratched, dented housing bezel, do i really need to remove the whole screen before i remove the housing? Because i did it with the Note 2 and it was a piece of cake. It just snaps off.
Skarface ACapone unfortunately yes, you do have to take the whole phone apart, since the screws for the housing are located under the screen, however removing the screen is alot harder than this video makes it seem, because this one has already been taken apart once. so it doesnt stick that strong anymore. you really need alot of heat, also in the middle of the screen. oh and if you want it to be waterproof again, you also must order the black precut adhesive for when you put it back togheter, normal tape will let water through
so many amateur will break the screen after this video, the screan is already removed befor tutorial, you make me remember the old chinais marcial art mobie lol
i have one comment for every on who is watching this video. grass is always greener at the other side. it;s not that easy to repair Galaxy S5 as it may be seen in the video. Take it to a repair shop or eless it could cost you bubble the amount. We Repair phones for our customers Day and night. We know what we are telling you is the truth.
It's not G900F, how am I supposed to know which antenna wire goes to these antenna ports if there aren't any disassembly guides nor video around about the original G900F in the web?
this phone is obviously not meant to be tampered with. waterproof build is really an scheme for samsung to make you buy another one once it has the slightest problem.
If your intention is to only show genuine professionals a full take apart and disassembly of the S5 I am in the wrong. But for most of us professional repairs tech's see our clients using these videos against us when a full glass only repair of the S5 involves a clean room and about a 7,000 to $10,000 investment for a pro OCA repair. Those of us that have made this investment see your videos as a violation of the Real pitfalls of repair and run counter intuitive of true repair practices. If you would please sir make a video of a true glass only repair of a galaxy S5 that has never been taken apart before and I will atone.
my phone was working even with scratches. After watching this video i completely bricked my phone. Now it doesn't even display. They should have told they are removing screen. I just removed the screen protection and bricked the screen while trying to just remove the outer protection.
Everytime I drop my Samsung Galaxy S5 it gets the black screen, to fix this sometimes I have to hit the phone on my hand till the screen turns on. Most of the time I have to remove my LifeProof case and take out the battery which is a pain. Please help me its really bugging me!
***** I'm not sure, but the first thing the person on the video did was disconnecting the display. Try to do it your self. If you're not sure how to do it or the phone still covered by the guaranty take it to the place you bought it and they'll fix it for you. Try not to drop it anyways hehe... Is an expensive device though.
I'm an Engineer for samsung, what you have is a loose Flex on the panel to the board, I do s5 day in and day out, it's one of the most common faults, take it in for a panel re-seating. Make sure its Samsung official!!
After disassembling my S5 there suddenly appeared a small white knob (or button). I don't know where it belongs to, has anybody an idea? Here a picture of the button: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7763161/IMG_20151215_201901.jpg

following this video will destroy your phone. They previously opened the phone and already sliced through antenna cables. The adhesive will also be way harder to separate then they show. This is a joke, don't follow this video.
it's obvious that the screen has been removed before!
Good tutorial for to break the screen

Obviously opened before, both antennae cables missing from the botton
I am a cell phone repair tech and this phone is a pain to take apart. If you try this you will probably break your phone. Take it to a repair shop.

1:24-1:59 what are this plastic tools which you use to open the phone at called?
those are called PRY openers.
Hello! can i ask you somethnig..when i put the lcd screen back must i put on the frame new doublesided adhesive or heat it up again and push it down to stick to the same adhesive..?
Where do you get the gloves?
Hi thanks for the video! I have broken the glass of the camera, as it should be replaced? only the glass or the whole piece?
Do you need to apply pressure when replacing the screen or heat it up agian? Or just placing it in place is enough?
You skipped the part that i want to see. 11:18. I cant get the usb back in the housing it feels like it will brake.
is it still water resistant?
Main question for me, is it going to be water proof after screen repair, middle frame repair?
I liked your gloves ..I use latex but can't get enough of them
Now its not water resistant ... :D
