  • I'm taking the Shinkansen Kodama, bullet train, from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo and traveling in the green car of the new type of train. N700S is amazing.
The ticket I bought is called "Platt Kodama"
It's a discount ticket that you can purchase at JR Tokai Tours offices up to one day before departure.
*Please make sure some special conditions apply to this ticket.

For those that don't know, the newest shinkansen are (almost) always on the routes that stop most often as the constant stop-start causes the greatest wear on the trains. The older trains tend to be on the non/seldom-stop routes and travelling at the highest speeds because it causes less wear on them.

Thank you for an excellent video. On your first stop for an ekiben box, you spoke to the cashier. You have a nice voice. You showed the best features of where you sat. On the one stop, you needed to rush. I'm glad that you succeed. I think almost everyone has been in a similar situation. Thanking you again for a wonderful video.

I enjoyed two journeys on the Shinkansen trains between Osaka and Tōkyō recently and its hands-down the most comfortable train I’ve ever experienced. The temperature within the carriage is so well controlled and the seats are so comfortable and well designed that it didn’t take long for me to drop off and snooze for much of the journey. Such a smooth, punctual and stress-free train service. And the bento box food available at the stations is a revelation! 👍

We did this trip on the Nozomi am a family holiday years ago. It wasn't as modern obviously but it was a great trip, and much better than flying. You get one extra ride on your ticket on a suburban train which pretty much takes you to within spitting distance of your hotel if you plan it right. Nobody explained this to us, but at the end of the journey when the ticket popped out of the machine again, I realised that you could probably keep using it. Honestly, I get cravings for these videos.

I find it funny that your solution when faced with food that you don't like is just swallowing it, which is exactly what I do. That's how I found myself swallowing whole clams once (and not the small ones). The train ride was exciting! Specially when you had to rush so the train wouldn't leave you behind.

I used the Japan Rail Pass (Green) and travelled extensively on the N700S last month. Totally agreed that the expereince was amazing - the level of comfort of N700S' Green Car is out of this world!
Noise and vibration were kept to a minimum and the Green seat was super comfy. One of my longest rides on N700S Green was a Nozomi service from Hakata to Tokyo (which was not covered by JR Pass btw) and I got some solid sleep en route. I actually felt refreshed after the 5-hour journey!
