Hag, if that particular bearing broke up you would be at the risk of losing the mesh, or stripping a spur gear assuming it was a plastic one. If that spur gear is a rare part then it could cost you more than just renewing a bearing. In a lot of cases the "old" roller bearings can be replaced with modern ball races as I am sure you know - sorry off topic for a clutch video but it's linked somewhat
Great video, thanks for the info. My son has a ftx carnage and we tried to upgrade it to 2 speed as ive seen on you videos,we really struggled on trying to drill out the clutch bell as the crank isnt long enough,i havent got a drill press and no off the shelf drill bit will touch it, so i left inner bearing out and it didnt like it at all,it seemed to be binding and stalling the engine. Then when i looked starting it like that a few times had worn through the clutch shoes and startied wearing through the springs. Any ideas on how to solve this without drilling the clutch bell? Or any ideas on what i can use to drill the clutch bell, any help would be greatly appreciated
@HaggardRC yeah I got the 2 speed bell and 2 speed central diff from wheelspin, but the crank isnt quite long enough on the new bell and when you tighten the screw to hold the bell on it pinches everything together. In you video on the carnage 2 speed upgrade you drilled the bell out a bit so the outer bearing sat a little lower which solved the problem but I jist can't find anything that will drill it out, just keeps burning out drillbits
@simon6097 Are you sure? I don’t remember drilling any bells. I used the single speed bell because the 2 speed was out of stock. I’ll have to watch that video back because I can’t see me messing around drilling bells lol.
@simon6097 Haha that’s funny… haven’t had chance to watch it back lol. Remember I used the wrong bell though. The correct one should in theory fit straight on. It’s a direct fit from FTX themselves 🤷🏻♂️
well if it ain't THAT complicated, why these little engines are SOOOO expensive especially after all these years, they should have mastered the process of building engines, and prices should be democratized

Well, I’d like to think things like that are common sense lol. You’re right, so let’s assume people use their heads and think about things like that.
Agreed and a faulty bearing can cause resistance and friction which in turn will produce excess heat which can melt plastic spurs
a can of worms there with Assume, Hag. You know what assume means right?
@ All of the above things you've mentioned are things not worth worrying about if you ask me 🤷🏻♂
I’ve never used a three shoe clutch. I want one after this video. Tx haggard, love your videos. Shout out from Michigan
You’re welcome dude!

You need to buy the 2 speed bell that goes with the 2 speed box. They sell them at wheelspin models 👍🏻

@HaggardRC yes mate you definitely did,you drilled it a bit and said it could do with going a bit more 😂😂

Can you show us how to install a 3 piece clutch im having issues thanks mate.
It’s on the list ✌🏻👍🏻
@@HaggardRC Sweet. Thanks mate appreciate the content. I have learnt so much from your videos.
@fltltspike232 Glad to be able to help :)
Nice video, 👍♥️😁
