Scott is a national treasure. Really nice to see him in such good form despite recent personal tragedy - so give him a big hug. Some awesome stories I hadn’t heard before. I don’t think Scotland would bring a veteran out of retirement for a development tour these days! Goes to show there’s a bit more depth in the Scotland team. I also agree with Scott that there’s a great rugby and life experience in Scotland for anyone looking for a change of scene.
Great to hear from Scott. I remember as a kid watching the 1995 RWC with Gavin playing for Scotland. And collecting the collectors cards where Gaving was labelled as a "living legend".
Great interview guys! Got a few What Goes on Tour stories of Scott's brother, including one from the Lions tour in '97, but they'll stay on tour... Hope it's a great match on Sunday!
Flower of Scotland is a dirge (but now and again it can be sung really well) compare it to the welsh, french or italian anthems and it's not even close. Murrayfield doesnt have a good atmosphere at all. The majority of fans are casual rugby fans or tourists and the stadium isnt well laid out for fans.
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion but I for one get goosebumps when I hear 'Flower of Scotland'. Bigger goosebumps for the SA anthem but a very close second
would anthem would you suggest instead? In my experience Murrayfield is a good rugby stadium to be honest - I take in most 6N and an occassional Autumn internationals there (have been going since the 90s) and I've never found it to be anything other a great experience. Some of the games about 10 years ago I'd agree - it was topped up with schoolkids because they basically could sell all their tickets - those matches were a pretty hard watch and the crowd had nothing to get behind.
@albertdong Caledonia is 100 times the song. Its actually about Scotland as well rather than an obsession with England. I don't go to Murrayfield much anymore as it's so expensive. But the atmosphere isnt close to the other 6 nations grounds and despite having more seats its nowhere close to Ibrox or Celtic Park (or even Hampden for that matter) for atmosphere.
So good to see Scott buoyant after his recent and tragic loss.
Yeah such a tragedy. He's had his own health problems as well. Good to see Scotty out and about. He's got plenty of living to do.
I love Scotland - beautiful country, amazing, kind people, exciting rugby team and passionate fans. Much respect from SA!
Nice to see Scott after his tragic loss. Blessings to him and his family. Welcome to Scotland our Bok friends.
Very hard to dislike the Scots.
thank you Scott Hastings, Matthew and Shimmi...great talk and build-up about rugby and Scotland...
Fantastic to see and hear Scott, especially given his recent loss. An icon of Scottish rugby and a brilliant commentator.
That bloke Hastings is a true gentleman!
" HASTINGS " legends ,long live and ling live their legacy, they gave and put back, exemplary.
A fantastic interview gents. Edinburgh is a wonderful city too, so great backdrop.
Scotland ...beautiful country, people are very hospitable and friendly... 👌 Go Bokke 🇿🇦🏉

The Hastings brothers were some of my favourite Scots players

Memories. I had Zinzan Brooke, Gavin Hastings and Chester Williams as Living Legends.
@ShaheenJay I think there was a French player who was a living legend too. Philippe Sella?
Beautiful city! One of my favourite places I’ve been to.
Most enjoyable programme.Thanks gents.
Scott Hastings should be a national treasure. What an amazing representative for Scotland.
What a show! Scott is a champ! Loved his feedback.
Shimmy is a gem, so funny

Love the rugby that Scotland play and "my team" (after the Boks) I support.
Quality stuff guys. Scott Hastings also good value 👌
Great podcast. Keep it up!
What a brialiant guy
Shimmy love your sense of humour ❤❤❤❤
So great to Scott
One word....EPIC!
Lovely chat guys 👍🏽
Shimmy does so many podcasts now that he has to alternate between sitting and standing 😀
Why would that guy be gutted to leave a club he only played 16 times for in 3 years?
I wonder if Matt Pearce is still always going to say Ox's fullname on commentary just to sound clever? 🙄
Its simply a matter of respect.By the way Matthew is clever.

I agree
Sad to read your comment. It's one the most beautiful anthems to me 💚💛🇿🇦
