Might as well set this up as a recurring video every 6 months! Love your takes on this topic. So true about players like CCH too. Just did their demo of their latest and greatest PM, which shows a ton of really cool stuff (copying what most of your list are actually doing). Too bad in reality it doesn’t deliver like the sales folks sell it!
Really helpful fly-by of each of these practice management systems. Highest priority for me is a client portal/communication layer that makes a great client experience. What would be perfect is if it integrates with other practice management systems and back-end apps, so I have flexibility to tweak the firms internal processes and apps without impacting the client experience. Clients would still see the same thing even if I swap out internal systems. Seems Liscio might do that ... and maybe Copilot. All-in-one practice management system with awesome client experience would be great, but if that client portal/communication piece is baked into the all-in-one, then I'm stuck if I can't plug and play that portal/communication layer. Just random thoughts about how I'm setting this up for myself.
Do you have a video of recommended tax prep software? I haven’t seen it if so, but I just found your channel (have already watched a lot - love your content and your humor). Thanks!
Seems like we went and looked at most of these and it came down to Karbon and Financial Cents with Karbon being better but FC being a third of the price
What about starting from scratch and using Copilot, Keeper, and Financial Cents? Too much redundant features or think that works well as a stack? Im starting my own firm in a few months and trying to design the workflow from the beginning.
Yeah I'd say try piecing it together then testing out both sides of it, your workflow side and the client experience The devil's always in the details of what integrates and what doesn't Also for me I just don't always know what I'm going to get use out of until I'm living with it In case you missed it, after this vid we released a big research project on this topic that compared 200+ features across these platforms go.rlz.io/pm
How do I choose a doc management and practice management that will get secure documents and routine source documents to me for quick file storing and transaction recording? That's me dilemo ahora.
we are also using taxdome and automated a lot of client communications. I'm still trying to figure out how to use taxdome for practice management, does anyone have any ideas?
@@Freedom_foliohave to looked into using a program like Workflows for TaxPros? They will walk you through how to use it and set it up. Well worth the money imo
@@Freedom_folio you have to really spend time on it and experiment with it... setup a dummy account or two to test things out and hit up their customer support - they are there all day every day and can do video chats one on one... I've had it for about 6 months now...
We are looking to stop using QB because they are forcing the online version and my boss is not open to that we have over 300 businesses that we do payroll, bookkeeping and taxes for what would be your recommendation on software.
@@jasoncpa It's worked well for us though in how we operate and have operated for 15 years I'm young and relatively new to the firm. So i have been put in charge of finding an alternative that will allow us most of, if not all of the same functions as QB desktop. But not break the bank like QB online is sure to do.
I'm using it and wanted your opinion. I just feel like all of these softwares are just learning how to walk. I think the idea in my brain is going to be disappointing no matter the software.
A big NO on Mango. Their lead developer left and we have had nothing but problems. Zero support. Tickets remain open for months. No one there seems to know anything!

Yep agreed - that client facing bit is high-stakes

I don't yet because they all make me sad 🪦🪦
First round draft pick: QBO/Xero and Keeper.
This has got to be one of the best video that inspire me to start a vertical SaaS.
Thank you for the video!!! We learn a lot from you! Thank you!

You've missed Accountancy Manager (Now Bright Manager), hands down the best!
What are you using it for?
Still loving Karbon. Great video Jason.
they just called me with new improvements - so I have to look at them again... glad to hear you like them

Hey @Jason_CPA, are there any that are targeted specifically to Canadian firms and have Canadian tax filing intuition (besides Karbon)?
Love your content! Any platforms that are targeted to canadian firms? Very interested in Karbon or Financial Cents
Thanks! Not that I'm aware of today - What would that look like? Statutory due dates? Regulatory project templates?

Implementing tax dome, keeping my fingers crossed.
Godspeed
Really like TaxDome

QB Desktop isn't the right move in most cases anymore, so getting comfortable with a new stack of tools seems inevitable

How do you feel about Bigtime?
Haven't talked with anyone who uses it yet!

Great content.
For book keeping for clients, what do you think about Veryfi?
I don't know enough about it to say!
Anybody has experience with Mango? Also, should I get one of these even if I only have a couple clients.
IMO you start with a solid PM on day 1, since it impacts the way you develop your internal processes
@@jasoncpa - Thank you for your response! I will pick one.

Don’t knock excel unless you know VBA.
If you know VBA you can do everything for a small business (
This is great, thank you Jason! Any opinion on ClickUp?
