    I recently saw Ren (coach for Jackpot) post on Twitter about an easy way to see what areas you need to improve in. You look at replays, and look at all your deaths (from multiple perspectives). You then categorize those deaths into 4 different causes: poor positioning, lack of awareness, mechanics issue (movement, aim etc.), or a "good" death. You then count how many deaths you have in each category, and it suggests to you where to you should focus to improve.
    I think it's important to recognize "good" deaths, and this video helps a lot with that :)

      i should totally do that tbh, go through like 10 games (half wins half losses? dunno) and tally up my deaths, time to see what i have to improve in lol

      It's not so much that I think about all of this just in this amount of time as it is that I've thought about all these concepts and learned them at some point in my career playing competitively in S2 or S3 (this map was in both) and this is a synthesis of what I've learned to act on in all of that time. And I'm still making mistakes (*paints uninkable wall*)

    Imho, “feeding” is a concept pulled whole cloth from League into most games when the concept doesn’t 100% apply. *Any* death to an enemy in league is bad because it simultaneously puts you permanently behind and the enemy ahead. In other games, while numbers disadvantages are real, delaying with your life is incredibly valuable. I would argue that inting and throwing your life away for sure exist, but “feeding” isn’t as applicable. (Except in clam blitz but that mode has permanent objective progression.)

    • @ImaTroper
      @ImaTroper Год назад +8

      Yeah, when the respawn time is in single digits and theres a teleport to teammates mechanic, "feeding" doesn't really apply outside of hard throwing lol. The term is more for mobas and S&D siege type games.

    • @plasmasupremacy9321
      @plasmasupremacy9321 Год назад +1

      I think one of the reasons I find mobas frustrating to play is the way that early game decisions in a 30 minute match have a compounding/snowball effect that carries an advantage for the rest of the game. So losing feels like slowly getting throttled to death

    Honestly I don’t mind when one or more of my teammates feed. I main backline, so I just have to back up slightly and give them safe jumps. It’s been well established that matchmaking causes players to end up in rooms above or below their skill level. Plus it’s possible that someone on the enemy team had a strategy that hard-countered my teammate. Since I play backline, an enemy frontline sometimes makes it their sole objective over an entire game to remove me from play, and that’s fair, because if I do my job well as a backline then I’m annoying to them in return.
    What really bothers me is when I have a teammate who: never engages the enemy, never paints for the team, never contributes to the objective, and isn’t AFK. A couple days ago I pulled a 14-3 in a clam blitz game and got knocked out because one of my teammates sharked by the enemy basket all game and spammed “This way!” even when the enemy was in the middle of scoring on our basket. It was an S-ranked room and they chose to make their team defend a 3v4 without ever leaving the enemy basket.

    Another fun thing to do is after getting hit by a sensor, diving the enemy team, and then just taking off in a random direction. Occasionally you can pull an entire team off of a critical point, as they instinctively follow the marked target.

  • @SincradTB
    @SincradTB Год назад +15

    One thing I noticed immediately is that I think the Rainmaker carrier went in solo expecting the team to be behind them, but the 3 other team members got distracted by you. I’m probably wrong though and it was 2v1 against you. Still better odds for your team in the moment if the only goal is to kill them before they get to the pedestal.

  • @jammasterjon
    @jammasterjon Год назад +3

    Also applicable to zones. If you can distract a couple of enemies long enough for your team to hold zone & get the lead then losing that 2v1 is totally worth it especially as time is winding down. These plays never get reflected in the ranking at the end of the match, but they’re pretty important in some cases.

  • @mannydani9180

    I've done this before and i love doing this kinda thing, especially since i love brush. Get behind them and keep their attention on me so its not on my allies, their push, or the objective. Be a nuisance to get some breathing room for my team. There have been a few rainmaker games i run to spawn and harass them for a good 30 seconds or so thst allows a checkpoint and aditional pop or sometimes the whole game

  • @ShortSweetcakeYT

    And hence, the reason as to why Quick Respawn is a really good ability to use right now...
    Although not the best option, it still helps considering that feeding has some good use in pressure and Quick Respawn allows for more pressure on the enemy team as you get in more frequently.

    I haven’t played Splatoon in awhile. Idk why this popped up in my recommended. But I’m really glad it did. I think you could apply this logic to just about any team based game, dying/feeding without getting a kill in return isn’t always a bad thing. As long as you’re helping your team take the advantage, then you’re being useful. Now of course there are some deaths or feeds that are just outright bad, but TLDR I like this video and I think the main point can be applied to many other games too

  • @Terotrous
    @Terotrous Год назад +1

    Realistically I don't think many people would have called this feeding. This was a perfectly valid flank. You got in clean, and by the time you were on top of the enemy team, your team had 4 up, and the pressure you put on the backline turns the battle against the rainmaker carrier into a 1v3. It would have been most ideal if you traded with someone or got away, but the distraction still has value. About the only thing you could say is that N-Zap's kit isn't really made for flanks, in an ideal situation maybe the Pro Deco goes for the flank instead, but it still worked out.
