I have not related to a video more. I graduated 6 months ago & work in Oncology. The things I see sometimes absolutely break me. Nobody really understands the things that nurses go through especially if we are empathetic people. Stay strong! You’re making such a huge difference in peoples lives. Don’t forget to take extra care of yourself In these times.
In those rough moments, I always stop and take a moment for myself, whether I have to go hide in the bathroom or break room and I ask God for guidance on what he would like me to do in this situation, also cry it out, and pray continuously that God grant me extra strength and compassion when I feel so worn out. You’re going to be okay. 😊
The NextGen nclex is coming up soon🥺and I just fail the exam on my second attempt🥺🥺🤦♂️💔,I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling right now 🤕😣,I'm confident that I will be a good nurse too. I just need to get past this too and move on. 🥺
Just say "I haven't passed yet." Don't take it as a failure but see it as a learning opportunity. There is a lot of power in "Yet"; you are telling yourself that you will get there and that your eyes and heart are still fixed on your goal.
So sorry to hear you guys complain deeply of at Nclex exam won't be a problem to you anymore,if you work with someone like Miss CATHERINA ALISON. She help me through my exam and I made it through.
Thank you for being so open and transparent , a lot of people don’t get to see the real raw moments in nursing and it’s nice to not feel alone dealing with those difficult situations. You’re doing amazing💕💕💕
My one tip as an old retired RN is: try to maintain some professional distance with the patient, DR's do this so should nurses.. If you let your emotions seep into your care with every patient you won't make it. You never saw this person before today so try not to get too attached because they are moving on from the ER one way or another........
Thank you ! Almost done . I can see the light and the end of the tunnel . This is my biggest fear going in because I care but I can’t have my mental well being affected .
I'm a surgical tech and work in the operating room. I can tell you when you experience events like that of your first day shift, it's gut-wrenching. But it does get easier to compartmentalize your emotions. It'll still be hard, but you can set your emotions aside for a bit. I've been in the OR for 7 plus years, and I still have those experiences. You're, no doubt, changing your patients' lives. Keep it up! You're doing great work. 💖💖
Thank you for what you do! I see it from all angles as a patient that receives care from nurses and hears the stories from my husband who works in the ER. We both love and appreciate the care you all provide :)
you are such a good nurse. I just want you to know that not only are you a good nurse, but you're a good human. God has you and will help you help others, even when it feels like its impossible, God will make it possible.
Awe! Hang in there! Fortunately/unfortunately, it gets easier to compartmentalize. You also learn how to cope better. You’re doing amazing!! & you are not alone! Our hospitals are also dealing with tons of boarding. Seems like it’s been that way pretty much ever since Covid. Our ER wait times are usually 12-24 hours, sometimes even more. It’s insane!
also thank you for making these! I am in school now for nursing and have been having second thoughts as I hear about how hard the job actually is, I appreciate getting to honestly see how it is thanks to you and thank you so much for what you do, you are such a strong beautiful ray of sunshine, girl and I know you are making a difference to SO many people just by being there! sending you good vibes I hope your next shift is super positive
Girl I feel you there. I’ve seen some young patients in my work and I’m just like there thinking “how did you get into this position, you are so YOUNG” it’s hard to see that especially when life can be sooooo good during your younger years. It breaks my heart all the time and I wish there was no such thing as diseases or illnesses cause it can happen to anyone. I am thankful for my health and my daughters. We are not diagnosed with anything even chronically and I’m always there wishing and praying for those who are and that a miracle will happen with them to heal them ❤
I just finished my 3rd semester of nursing school yesterday . One more to go and I am nervous and super scarred at the same time . Your emotions are valid , they are heard , and they are felt . Nurse are superhero’s . I decided to become one because of the greatest qualities that my mother passed on to me .
I am in Virginia and we are also having a hard time holding patients because there are no beds on inpatient floors. Also, thank you for sharing your emotions and showing the hard side of nursing, I started crying along with you because of how I can relate. This is my first video watching you but I loved your video and plan to watch more! :)
This was so real and raw Sierra, thank you for sharing your emotions with us. This profession is so beautiful and rewarding, but you are so right, we still have to endure really hard things. Compartmentalizing things as a nurse is still something that I am learning and struggle to do. Nursing school changed my perspective a lot to what is really important in life. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, I am rooting for you girl, you are working so hard and definitely making a difference out there
You are still human regardless of role and it's normal to be upset by the trauma and horrific situations you must bear witness to. I hope you have good support system to rely on and are investing in therapy (this should be a mandatory benefit for nurses...). Other coworkers help a LOT to and journaling. You see people at their worst time in life esp in ER but it's your Monday shift etc the dichotomy can be tricky. When you get a kind patient it's almost shocking, I love getting to know little parts of their story.
can you please make a sit down about the cons of nursing or both pros and cons where we get to hear the hardest parts, if you think it is worth it, future goals etc :)
I love hearing about your journey. I am a new grad RN as well and watching your videos continue to help me with any anxiety I may have about this new chapter in my story. Thank you for sharing your story and bringing us along with you. It means more than you know(:
As a former RN who worked in the icu/nicu/picu/er/ot for 7 years - my advice: try to somehow dissociate your emotions from your job. As much as you care for your patients always put your (mental) health first. Try to treat your job a bit corporate to some extent- you're delivering certain services to customers who may or may not benefit from them. Otherwise you will experience major burnout very soon. I know what I'm talking about; I've been there.
Yes, our hospital is completely full. I work on a cardiac floor and get patients who are already admitted in the ED. It’s crazy how different ER nurisng is compared to inpatient, but they both have their ups and downs:) I’m about 7 months off orientation and it gets better, I promise!! You got this girl!❤️🥰
Thank you for being brave and sharing your emotions with us. Human connection is essential to healing and growing. Know that you are never alone in your thoughts!
Funeral director and embalmer here and I just wanted to comment some words of hope! Just wanted you to know I’m sending love and prayers, in the hard days at work I find the little “silver lining” being that this family is in my care and I will hug and love on them as much as I can because they were sent to my funeral home for a reason and now I get to help them grieve the most comforting way that I can. I’ve had babies in my care and I’ve had 100+ year olds in my care and knowing that I am the one that gets to be the one to help me through is what helps me! They were put in my funeral home for an exact reason. I’m not saying that I’m thankful for people passing so that I have a job, I’m saying that I feel so blessed to be the person that I know they can come to too find comfort in this situation, I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I’ve held someone’s babies in my arms and I’ve been the last person to ever see so many people. This is such a hard but rewarding job but just know that you are there strong suit in the situation, it’s ok to cry, it’s ok to hold them! I’m only 27, around your age and sometimes have a hard time being taken seriously but knowing I’m here to help is what keeps me going. You are awesome, you are in this place because you are just the person they need!! It’s a blessing and a curse in both of our lines of work! I hope this little slither of hope brings you comfort ❤❤ Work is tough but you are strong and you are there for just the right reason!! ❤❤
You are truly the kind of person and nurse we all wish to have not only in the good moments but also the hard, heavy, and heartbreaking moments. You have a heart that outshines the sun and it shows. I will be adding you to my daily prayers 💜 We Love, Adore, and Appreciate You More Than You’ll Ever Know 💜💜
I work in an ER in NY and we run into this problem all the time! There are no rooms upstairs especially for our ICU patients. It creates crazy wait times in the ER
I work at a KADLEC ER in Richland WA and out of 20 rooms , the 15 are boarders and it has been like this for weeks!! They go up it seems like I’m batches and that same day we get enough admits to fill the ER again! So much RSV and FLU it’s crazy 💗
The holding patients in the ED has been a really big thing happening in our hospital these last few weeks. Sometimes they get held in PACU after surgery because we have no beds for them to go. its soo crazy
Yes, same thing is happening in our ER as well. Have quite a few people waiting for beds/rooms. It’s just a really crazy time of year for sure! I’m a new grad as well but for Echo! 😊
Hi, just found your channel and im so glad I did. Ur an inspiration to me! question - did you do anything to prepare for your ER position ? I graduate in December and I just finished my preceptorship for my final semester in the ER, I really want to start there but I feel like I need to prepare more for actually being the nurse if that makes sense ? any classes or RUclips videos you recommend or just wing it after getting hired haha ? thank you !!!
Sending you virtual hugs ❤. I truly appreciate how authentic and just truly awesome you are. 😢😊❤I believe you have a heart to be in this profession and you are appreciated. I see you
My favorite clinical shifts in nursing school were the ER & I got to do my IP in the ER too which ultimately helped me decide that's where I wanted to work. I can't imagine working anywhere else!
I work as a tech in a hospital med/surg floor and we currently have 8 patients in the ER who are needing to be med/ surg but there is literally no room. We had to move several patients around to try and create as much room as we could but we literally had no beds
I’m not too sure if you’ve addressed this before, I’m still pretty new to your channel but does anyone check in on Camper while you’re at work? I have a dog as well and I’ve always wondered what I would have to do if I didn’t have my boyfriend to watch him while I was at work.
What exactly happened to you in the shift? Sometimes patients& residents are not problems but other things bother us... I think you are doing great job and hope you to take care of yourself dear !!
I'm in nursing school working as a nurse intern in the ICU and the things I see and have to do smh. It's reallyyyy heavy stuff. I question my career choice alot
