The US has been particularly focused on denying China AI chips. Nvidia is the leader in this area with its high end GPU/AI chips. What started out with focusing on high intensity gaming that required rapid parallel processing to achieve real time action and responses, has turned out to be exactly what AI needed because it too functionally needed high end parallel processing.
China's research into photonics has led to photonic chips whose characteristics leads to high speed parallel processing a thousand times faster in response than electron driven circuits. China's photonic chips, as they mature in characteristics, will dominate the AI computing sector in the near future and replace the silicon electron chips that have been so highly sought and priced. Photonic chips will not only be a quantum leap forward in speed, but also a significant reduction in power consumption and price. If anything, the photonic chip will accelerate the spread of AI as it becomes more capable and affordable.
What Raimondo has done is accelerate China's drive to circumvent her restrictions and bans and photonics are looking like the key to bypassing not only her restrictions, but put China on a path beyond anyone's expectation in the field of AI. This has been a rapid paced game of chess and it looks like China is nearing check mate. Further, it will be the US seeking to gain technology from China and we shall see whether the Chinese are benevolent enough to share its advances.

Just to point out the power of USA's indoctrination around the world ... everybody refers to USA and "the USA", while every other country is referred to by their name only ... like "China" or "Greece". Either we stop using "the USA" when referring to USA, or we start calling other countries as "the China" or "the Greece" as examples. Which is it?

How can UX ever hope to stop a nation with a huge pool of well qualified talents and blessed with critical resources and cheap energy?
Semiconductor is a Chinese playing field.
Soon SMIC will become the world buggest pure play foundry. And they will be using 100% home made equipment to complete the tasks.
TSMC will have to play second fiddle in the ever-changing scenario.
China will achieved their target of self sufficiency in chips by 75% by 2025.

Since China sent her students to take part in the STEM Olympiads decades ago, I realize it is a matter of time, they will shock the presumptive West and her poodles. Now that she had developed her basic infrastructure to ensure the basic advantage of logistics proficiency, to ensure the lesser competitive population can also participate in national developments and also to begin to support the more advanced technologies of the 21st Century. I am just waiting for her to commercialize her Thorium nuclear plants and this will definitely change the whole scenario as she becomes independent in energy production.

The major difference between China and USA, is their government makeup.
USA have their government predominantly made up of Corporate Lawyers ... they even pride themselves by call themselves "law makers".
China have their government predominantly made up of Engineers, Mathematicians, Scientists, Technologists, etc.
This is where the fundamental problem occurs. A government gets Taxes from their citizens to provide them with great Civic Infrastructures and affordable Civic services for ALL.
So when a USA Government gets the Tax Payers money, the Corporate Lawyers address the Corporate needs first, and whatever is left over goes to the people.
However, when China's Government gets the Tax Payers money, they immediately deploy the vast majority to the people and allow a litte for Private Corporations.
USA has 50% of their people's Taxes go to the Military Industrial Complexes ($800 Billion ... 50%) every year. The remainder 50% is shared amounts bailing out Banks, Topping up Private Corporations profits, and. or helping Private Corporations pay their Shareholders. Consequently, very little Tax Payers money is left for the actually Tax Payers.
China has over 90% of their people's Taxes go to their Tax Payers in the form of amazing, quality, Civic Infrastructures and extremely cheap Civic Services for all their citizens.
Also, when there are Civic problems to be solved ... Corporate lawyers do NOT have the skills to solve them ... hence why they waste even more Tax Payers money on get 3 expensive Quotes. A Government fill with Engineers, etc, are, by Nature, problem solvers. They get the problem fix in record time.

@@dranzacspartan8002the reason why "the" is used is because the country is actually not called the USA but America. U.S.A. means United States of America. It means that America is made up of a Union of many States.

Just imagine if US & China work together in R& D to improve & betterment of all beings & save the planets. Instead the USA applies sanctions after sanctions, together with bans for the last decade. Now the make up overcapacity on the China affordable EV & other green technologies for political reasons,. In the meantime the UN green experts reported the net zero emissions target had been missed again & there are still millions of fossil fuel vehicles around.
