I got caught out when I removed the cylinders too. A small amount of rubbish fell into the crank case. Oh well, deal with it. Wish I'd seen this particular video earlier. Thing is though, I had to pull the engine to pieces after if was redone by a so-called mechanic. I call myself the 'muckanic' but, I would be embarrassed for someone to find the various errors & omissions that I paid very good money to have this bloke make. Anyway, that is history. I'm learning quite a lot watching. Thanks. Edit: my cylinders had one broken fin for years and I broke another taking them off. Had new fins welded on. It's all good.
Hi Adrian, thanks mate. It is referring to Chapter 61 from the Magna Carta, which refers to lawful rebellion. The shirts were produced to protest the VLAD anti association laws introduced by the Newman Government in QLD. Thanks for tuning in, Andy
So after i took my xs650 engine apart i find out that a piston ring broke on one cylinder, causing damage. Ordered pistons and rings few days ago for 120$. On the positive side, the bike will be 705 cc 😁
Hey Andy, another excellent video! I'm at this step in my top end rebuild and my pistons are worn on the sides too in various spots. The cylinders don't look gouged and will clean up when I give them a light hone. My question is....the scratches areas of the Pistons...should I sand them a little and get them smooth or get a new set of Pistons?
Hi Brian, you should measure your pistons and bores for wear, as per the manual. If they are okay, as mine where (one set anyway), then just clean them up and reuse them. It is okay to smooth out scratches but you don't want to remove material. Very fine wet and dry or scotchbrite. Andy
lmao "more white powder than an Oscar's afterparty"
love this channel
Great video, Mr. Andy. I've commented on liking some of your shirts before, but this one is far and away my favorite. Take care.
I broke 2 fins and fixed em back with jb weld - good stuff
Minxy just this moment, told me what the shirt means. I had no idea. I like it even more. G'day, Sir.
Looking really good Andy, going to look great when it goes back together, and run much better too, well done mate
I hope so mate
The devils in the detail fella, a really well put together video.. nicely done.
Cheers old mate, I appreciate that.
Thanks again mate

Wow I'm staggered how much crap was in those piston holes, and how hard to get out. Never seen that before. O.O
