The fact that Zuko’s actor sounds almost identical to Dante Basco sold me completely. As well as Sokka’s actor nailing his iconic sarcasm. And of course, Katara’s hopeful tone for Aang. I’m sold.
Guy playing Sokka said during the recently released breakdown vid from Netflix that he put some improv in it to put some humour in, which is cool. Also Ozai looking appropriately ripped and absolutely terrifying to have coming at you.
i love how emotional and genuine your reactions are!! also aang's actor said that he would always burst out laughing because of how good bumi's actor was in his role, so even if he doesn't look that good (tho we havent's seen him that clearly yet) i really want to believe that he is able to bring the character to life
Idk why I often have a different opinion, but I think Bumi being a realistic looking old guy makes sense. It makes it believable that he's *112* *years* *old* and you know how there's body builder strength and then there's dad strength? Bumi always gave grandpa strength imo.
It makes sense here but Bumi always seemed to follow the anime trope of an old man suddenly revealing that he's mega jacked. Like Dragon Ball's Master Roshi for example is typically "conserving his energy" as any old man would but when he needs he can instantly get mega jacked because that's what a lifetime of training and combat would make him. Still like this Bumi though, especially if they capture his personality.
According to Gordon, Bumi does act like an old guy at some point so we might see him go from hunch old guy to a more badass look, for a 112 year old that is
@@LJ-SYLKI that's your opinion, and it's a perspective you got from seconds (perhaps only one) of footage from a trailer that didn't make emphasis on bumi's apearence, we need to see the show to make conclusions, but from what I saw, I'm satisfied with what they did, especially because one of my favorite characters is Toph and she's a *perfect* example of how insignificant one's physical strength is when becoming a powerful bender, all you need is skill and/or powerful chi* or perhaps even spiritual wisdom, but not physical strength.
The fans lived in harmony until M. Night Shyamalan attacked. But I believe Netflix can save the adaptation. However I still really want Dee to watch the previous M. Night live action so that she knows and can feel the torture, the pain, the misery, and the suffering we had all this time because of that movie.

This trailer was Amazing. I jad goosebumps the entire way from 3:08. I actually love how hyped and geeked u guys were especially Dee. She truly has become one of us 😆🥰. My biggest concern before the trailer dropped was obviously the bending. But after seeing the trailer I think I'm at ease. I mean it's good it didn't take 8 men to shoot a boulder (Meesh knows how traumatized the fanbase is from the movie). The choreography looks amazing and the effects look great. I think now my biggest concern Azula and her actress. From the trailer we saw the characters comes to life. Aang sounded very much like a kid and was able to hit the emotional tone very well. Katara felt like Katara, hopeful and kind. We could see the sarcasm that we love in Sokka. And Zuko and Iroh look great (tho I do need a little more from zuko). So all the characters felt like the ones we love. But i didn't see anything like that from Azula. Not to badmouth her or anything she felt a little too cute. My concern is she won't be able to be match the kind of antagonist Azula was (I never expected her to top the og cause Grey DeLisle is the GOAT). Just like u guys pointed out is Gordon Cormier (Aangs actor) has hit puberty. His voice is deepening and he's gaining height. So by the end of book 3 (if we have a book 3 LA) Aang is gonna be way taller than katara or even sokka for that matter. Which kinda messes up the timeline. I think the best way to deal with that is by increasing the time limit of Sozins Comet from 9 months (from og ATLA) to 3 years in LA, each book being 1 year. This way by book 3 he'd be canonically 14 (which can be pulled off by gordon). Glad u catched sozin. The showrunners have confirmed theyll be adding scenes that the og didnt have. So we'll probably be shown the genocide in the 1st ep. And i think they can do a lot of heavy character stuff by upping the rating to pg-16. The bumi issue u guys talked is interesting. I mean i think its fine if he isnt the bulkiest guy around as long as he can capture the crazy man that is Bumi. The acting is a bigger concern imo. And i dont think he's that scrawny i think its just the angle. We'll have to see ig. If i had to rank the bendings itd be: 1. Water 2. Fire 3. Air 4. Earth Earthbending is something we see the least of in the trailer and it looks kinda wobbly if that makes sense, which does make me a little worried. So all in all I'm hopeful 😅😅. The acting, dialogue, music, bending effects, action, choreography, cgi , etc. look pretty darn good. February CANNOT come sooner.
My biggest goal was to turn Dee into an avatar nerd like me. Success! 😂 Great points on the cast! Overall, they seem to capture the vibe well, exceeding expectations compared to the past movie. I agree about wanting more of Zuko and Azula; they've got significant roles to fill, especially with Azula's menacing acting balancing her cute look. Changing the timeline for aging is a smart idea. Wouldn’t mind that since the cast will be drastically aging. Totally get what you mean with Bumi. I think I can get by his body type but his humor and personality has to shine! It wont be Roku, it's for sure Sozin (the beard is a dead giveaway and Roku doesn't have a moustache like that.) attacking the air temple. You can see the other person protecting itself with possibly air (there's no other apparent bending) and soldiers on the ground.

The only reasons I would understand why Azula would use a bow and arrow has more to do with her perfectionism. How she has to be precise and acurate, not a hair out of place, so to speak. Another reason why is that when she recruits Mai and Ty Lee, she would most likely try to prove to be better than Mai at those skill sets. I know she didn't in the original, but we would have to see what Netflix does. Im probably right with the first reason, maybe not as much with the second one, but thats yet to be determined 😊
To this day Avatar is one of the shoes that do strong female characters right! And I would love to see that done in live action. I hope they don't mess the script because the cast and the viusals are on point!

Actually you finding the bending to be not that good in the katara's short actually shows how detailed the show is going. Because thats the beginning portion when Katara was in very initial stages of water bending and it is not suppose to look good. And in trailer, Katara had obviously developed and so the bending looks really nice. With Bumi, I guess there was no choice, no old man had that good body, so naturally they had to get someone young and made them look old or had to use CG or prosthetics to make that body look real (but I have to check, this is just a guess)
I wouldn't get your hopes up...I heard the creators quit the show & most recently a showrunner was bragging in an article about making Sokka less sexist. there goes that character's growth & development.
First time viewer and great reaction! Can definitely tell how die hard fans you both are of the original series. I was skeptical at first but this trailer really blew me away and I'm so excited now!!
Now to appreciate this live action version even more. You should after finishing ATLA, watch the first live action movie (also to connect more with us who have had to live with seeing that all excited in the cinema.....) And then watch the Netflix version.
I’m so excited it appears we are getting stuff we didn’t get to see in the anime like the actual fight at the air temple! I agree that has to be sozin and I like that touch of the red eyes from the comment to show what it does visually ( since the flame will already be more intense looking in live action that’s a nice additional way to show they are powered up by it)

As much confidence and trust I have that the acting and CGI can't physically be any worse than the non-existent movie, I also have trust issues when it comes to the script. I feel like the show is going to not capture the true essence of the show in this aspect and I fear that this series is going to be some people's first interaction with the series.
Also given how atrocious the movie shamalan made, netflix is trying to do this live action justice and im super happy they are actually trying with this cause they know the fan base would tear them apart if they ruin it.
The earth bending i always knew it was probably gonna be the “worst” one visually because earth is very hard probably for the vxf teams to do. Believe it or not, I still haven't watched Avatar the last air bender. I watched Korra first because I was introduced to it first (Copied a bunch of shows from a friend without any research about what i was getting myself into) and I didn't know about Avatar the last airbender. All the Avatar references in Korra went over my head. Now that I finally have the animated series, i will watch it. I have 1 month to go, i can at least watch the first season by the time this one comes out 🫣.

Bumi was my biggest downfall on the trailer. His body looked stiff , arm flimsy and the earth pillar he was throwing looked disconnected

As much confidence and trust I have that the acting and CGI can't physically be any worse than the non-existent movie, I also have trust issues when it comes to the script. I feel like the show is going to not capture the true essence of the show in this aspect and I fear that this series is going to be some people's first interaction with the series.

Also given how atrocious the movie shamalan made, netflix is trying to do this live action justice and im super happy they are actually trying with this cause they know the fan base would tear them apart if they ruin it.
The earth bending i always knew it was probably gonna be the “worst” one visually because earth is very hard probably for the vxf teams to do.
And i do agree Bumi looks weird and im not a fan of that but everything else looks good so im happy with how its turning out.
Also the budget is very high. 15 million dollars a episode i believe

I'm really looking forward to seeing this version of avatar the last airbender, looks so good I'm hyped, brings back my childhood with watching the original, btw you do know this is only book 1 so azula will not be in it, possibly in the flashback though with ozai and zukos Agni kai and the very end when ozai gives her a task to hunt down aang, zuko and iroh (could be wrong though but so far the trailer has nearly if not all shown just book 1)

Believe it or not, I still haven't watched Avatar the last air bender. I watched Korra first because I was introduced to it first (Copied a bunch of shows from a friend without any research about what i was getting myself into) and I didn't know about Avatar the last airbender. All the Avatar references in Korra went over my head. Now that I finally have the animated series, i will watch it. I have 1 month to go, i can at least watch the first season by the time this one comes out 🫣.
