When I was about 13 years old my brother pulled some pine logs and daddy built a barn out of them and that barn is still standing today, 66 years later.

Peggy, same here! Daddy grew up poor and used whatever material he had on hand. If he bent a nail he would hammer it back straight and use it. Never threw anything away.

It blows my mind that you are still able to do all that you do at your age. I’m not calling you old by any means because I am the same age as you 😂. So smart! I have 5 acres and spent the first year here deciding where to put the garden. I ended up putting right out my front door. We no longer have a front yard. The entire thing is a garden and we LOVE that we walk right out our front door into our garden! Mush easier to have it all close in proximity. My garden wouldn't be near the joy it is if it was far away. Love your homestead Danny and Wanda ❤

Call it the Sugar Shack. My grandparents use to make cane syrup. My job was to feed the cane through the mill that was turned by an old mule named Ida Red. My grandmother would make homemade biscuits and the whole community would come and eat hot biscuits and cane syrup. So many great memories and I can still taste that syrup on that hot biscuit.

I would love a sink like this~! Love that you are utilizing it in your new shack~! We are drooling over your syrup pan, we make Maple Syrup here in NW Illinois & eventually will add Birch Syrup as soon as our trees get larger. We also have grown sorghum for the syrup & seeds (we grind into flour). The ideas for your building is really making good use of every square inch and season. I am submitting the idea for the name of your new building of: Sweetest Chill & Grill Hangout (sweetest - cane syrup, chill - rocking chair & relaxation, grill - smokehouse corner, & hangout - hanging deer)

Back home I built large wooden ones. Here in Tenn. I think the best bet is to use metal ones. I have to put them together yet. Right now I am using lg. plastic tubs. Love watching you all, it got me through so very tough times! I hope to catch on of your live streams soon. Best of everything with your new home! Love you both!

I just like the name "SUGAR SHACK". Your making syrup then sitting in rocking chairs with Your Sugar enjoying the fruits of your labor. Add in a Kiss or two and holding hands. God bless!
