This is the perfect theme for Black Knight. The opening notes tell you right away that he is dangerous and not to be fucked with, but then the main melody kicks in and you realize the most dangerous thing about him is his _conviction,_ his absolute certainty in the righteousness of his path. He's just like you, in more ways than one.
What I also love about this song is that you can hear the subtle tones of the themes of the other knights as well. Meaning that at any point he may have been just before or just behind of you. He's seen all that you have seen, learned all that you will learn. The only difference between him and you is the path he chose. You can see within him what you would have become. What the other knights HAD become. There was right, and there was wrong. But for the first time, the window was a mirror, and you couldn't tell the two apart.
Don't you just love it when music tells you all you need to know even without lyrics?

If he deems his path righteous, then why does he feel somewhat evil? ...Actually, The relationship between Shovel and Black reminds me of the relationship between Rock and Blues--i mean Mega Man and Proto Man.
L-Y3T Noone thinks themselves evil. Everyone thinks they're justified in what they're doing. I ahven't played Shovel Knight(yet), but i assume that whatever the black knight does he has justified to himself.
0:29 Right there, you hear the conviction of both knights dueling. They were friends, fighting for what they believed in. The Black Knight had to have known who The Enchantress truly was, why else would he have given that hint to Shovel Knight? "Remember, don't hurt her or you'll regret it!" While some think that's a threat from the Black Knight, I think he was trying to warn Shovel Knight that if he treats The Enchantress like she was a villain, he'd find out the truth and tear himself apart over the guilt and remorse.
You also have to remember that he didn't want to join The Enchantress, even when she did give him a taste of the power she held, he wanted to do his own thing.

He thought that if he gave her enough time she would overcome the darkness herself. Thats why he wanted shovel knight to just stay away too.

If you try to use the flare wand on Black Knight, he'll try to reflect it back at you. The fact that both fighters are capable of reflecting and countering each other's attacks just shows how cool of a rival battle this is.
and the funny thing is, in the first battle, you can stun-lock him with by spamming flare wand. He learned his lesson

Well he is the only one knew that shield knight is still alive so he tried convincing her to remember who she is
He was her last hope of survival when he fought donovan (Spector knight) he told him the enchantress was shield knight and for that he caused him to go after her for revenge(and lost his pet friend) so he decided it wasn't worth telling the truth
When shovel knight first fought him he lectured him for his coward ness and betrayal for leaving his friends behind
The second time he warns him to continue and not to judge be how things look
The last time he decided to gave him a hint about what is he trying to do and for what reason
So that is why it sounds DETERMINED cause if he gave up all hope is lost

Person McPersonstein Nope, Terrorpin is still alive during SoH/PoS, just in the care of Polar Knight. Hopefully in the (inevitable) Sequel to Treasure Trove we see them reunited, since sadly Terrorpin didn’t “exist” until SoT.

Why wasn't there more backstory to Black Knight? Dude was fucking awesome man, and they should've at least explained his relationship to Shovel and Shield Knight.
Story was kept to minimal I guess, there will probably be more on him in the boss campaigns

I always viewed it as Blacknight had romantic feelings for Shield, but Shovelknight thought shield knight as a comrade at arms.

Guarding the Tower of Fate to protect the one he knew was Shield Knight. He must have chosen that path with such sadness and resignation. And there you have to fight him.

I absolutely love this theme. It's super intense, like the battle, with the older themes mixed in. You also realize after black knight says:

After the entrantress enchants him, you realize that you were friends. Then you are forced to fight. The ultimate battle between rivals, a true test of skill, will you come out on top?

Dury Zaragosa-Camacho Plague is annoying cause he teleports around so much and the flames and exploding vials he sets up can drain your life pretty fast.
This is especially a problem if you fight him on a bomb round, he's the first to fight or you already used your two vials.

The most unappreciated character, Terrorpin is sturdy, can shoot dark lasers out of his mouth, and can literally fly.
Something about 0:29 makes it feel just so climatic, I cannot even explain it.

No homo i fucking love black knight and his badass theme. He got the antihero personality i'm been looking for. For some people who don't know an antihero is a person who give a care about themselves or have a personal revenge they need to accomplish.
This guy was an utter joke the second time. The first time you fought him, you didn't have a massive array of items at your disposal. Second time I just walked in and spammed the Chaos Sphere everywhere, he couldn't do a thing.
Kind of a big duh on that one!
Try doing it without the extra weapons next time. Not a joke no more.
Idk if its just me but I never used the relics. I only used them as Plague Knight because PoS is way harder. And black knight is *STILL* a pushover!

Nothing's confirmed, but we know that Black Knight was close friends with Shield Knight, friends with Polar Knight, and associates with Shovel Knight. Maybe they used to be a big old shovel team before Shovel Knight and Black Knight met Shield Knight?
As for why he didn't try and beat Echantress, he just lacked the confidence in being able to beat her at all (let alone beat her without killing her) so he figured he'd just be her unofficial defender. Not a knight of the Order of no Quarter, but still someone protecting her life.

What if Black Knight is Shield Knight's brother? That would explain why he was so determined to save her, and that might explain why he resisted Shovel Knight's interference.
Its made pretty clear that Black Knight prefers to work alone and he wanted to be the one to save Shield Knight despite being too cowardly to face her himself. She could be her brother, or just a childhood friend, or 3rd wheel friend in the ShovelXShield pair. Who knows if it will ever be answered.

The Crescendo is too STRONK, it's too easy to get amped to fight the majority of the bosses in this game. I still prefer Specter Knight's theme the most, but damn.

Most of the boss themes are really unmelodic "meh", but THIS. THIS is fucking amazing!
i know right? i dont really like the soundtrack of shovel knight (which is a shame because it's fucking perfect in every other way), but this one is exceptionally epic.
Oh the soundtrack in general I adore, it's just I think the boss themes in general are quite boring and unmelodic, with the exception of "Fighting with all of our might" and this.

King Knight's theme is good.
Plague Knight's theme is good.
Tinker Knight's theme is decent.
Propeller Knight's theme is okay.
The rest are very unmemorable.
