You are a great person, Dr. Johnson. I am 30 years old. I have been living in Germany for 15 years. I have had eye.All the doctors tell me your eyes are healthy, but I see hundreds of floaters and black spots floaters, but in recent years they have become worse. Worse. I am going crazy. I quit my job and I hate this life.
A HUGE thankyou for this Channel Doc and answering my email enquiries. Your Professionalism really does Shine through and you are Truly a Credit to Ophthalmology
i just had this procedure 3 days ago. I had a very large weiss ring that took about 30 minutes to break up. Not a fun experience. The doctor said that they got most of it but that I will need a 2nd treatment. I am seeing a lot of little floaters today but was told this can happen. There are a bunch in the top right corner that appear to move together. There are very few references on the more reputable internet sites regarding more floaters after this procedure. Would be awesome if you could do a video on what to expect in the days following the procedure
@@ModernDayPharo it was a very traditional looking weiss ring but it was very large. It covered almost half of my vision. It was not transparent. It looked black and solid
These dense type of floaters show better on video and they are over-represented in my videos. I much more commonly treat cob-web looking fibers and strands, membrane sheets, and lighter clouds. All those are much more difficult to visualize and video record.
Hello, Doctor. I'm 43 years old and from Singapore. For the past two months, I've been experiencing visible floaters in my vision, which look like clouds and strings, some connected with dots. One of the floaters is over 2 inches long and appears in my line of sight time to time, which is very irritating. I also developed dry eyes just before this started. I was working long hour not eating also not drinking water at that point. I had my eyes checked, and the doctors told me there are no vision issues, so I don't need to wear glasses. However, they noted the beginning of vitreous gel degeneration and, recommended using blue light glasses since I work long hours on screens. The long string-like floater is attached to three main points with almost black or ashen dots. Can this be removed with YAG laser treatment? Is there a way I can visit you for further consultation?

@@giancarlocastillo7388 sorry to hear that I can feel what you are going through... Same here no difference because even you go for Lazer vitriolisis the success rate of it very low. Why there is none who does vitractomy. Any way you try to find a retina specialist does the vitractomy, in your case I believe it is a potential solution. Now I am trying a traditional solution for the time being.
@@giancarlocastillo7388 sorry hear that , I know what you are going through. Actually Lazer vitriolisis has very lower success rate if possible you can fine a retina specialist who does full vitractomy inducing PVD
Dr, very intrigued! A question, do you only target floaters where the retina is not also in the line of fire? Or is there some way in which the retina isn't affected even if the laser hits it? Thank you!!
There is no "line of fire" with the YAG lasers. Instead of a linear, columnated beam of laser light like your cat chases around the room, the laser energy instead is cone-shaped. The laser energy is delivered at a point in space. There could very well be damage to the retina or lens >> IF
Nope, I elected for the vitrectomy....Laser is too risky for my taste. Had it done in both eyes, I am floater free for life. Was a 30 minute surgical procedure, and if you are a good candidate for vitrectomy, I suggest you consider it.
How were your floaters look like? I just got like few weeks ago. 4 black dots connected with thin cloud like ashe colour some times it comes up in front.
I had two PVDs last summer within a month of one another. Of course, each resulted in a Weiss Ring. I've scheduled FOVs for this summer. Thanks for all you do!
I am both 1. vaporizing the proteins into gas bubbles (which dissolve and go away), and 2. Fragment to smaller and microscopic debris. These small, free agent protein fragments may also now find their way to the anterior chamber and get filtered out of the eye.

why are you not opting for vitrectomy ?

This doesn't replace the jelly though or the re-attach the vitreous, correct?
Hello Dr, it is a new machine laser.
This is so cool to watch! What happens if the laser misses the floater? Can it cause damage to the back of the eye?

@@Thefloaterdoctor1 Whoa I didn’t know that you could control the impact of the laser in 3D space. Thank you!
Do standard floaters usually appear somewhat opaque like this from the doctor's POV? Btw, more laser blasting videos please, so therapeutic 😌

Floaters that are very close to the retina he usually doesn't treat.
The retina is ‘always in the line of fire’ due to the anatomy of retina and eye. But what matters is the distance the floater to the retina.

Q: where does the laser treated floater debris go after treatment?
A: It travels through your brain and exits via your ear
