Savaii Tour - 2024

We took the Inter-Island Ferry from Upolu to Savaii primarily to meet with our Iva family, the Tofilau title holders of the nine families of Malietoa. Auntie Lasa then drove us around the island for an extended excursion to take in the beauty of the island and all that it has to offer.
We passed by a funeral in procession, a young girl washing clothes in a fresh water stream, children playing and laughing as they jumped off a bridge into the water below and a whole lot of farm land full of Taro, Bananas, pineapples, mango's and all manner of foods that the rich soil would provide as a bounty to those who would tender to it.
It was a majestic and timeless vision to behold and made me consider all the things that we take for granted in the western culture.
