    I think I already told you I am 70. My body may not be as it once was but my brain wants to build my Posh and eBay business. I use to also own a publishing business with 37 employees….I have you tube on from the time I wake up till I go to bed. I crave learning how to improve. I don’t think I would be alone in this request - but from you (who I think would be the best teacher for this) if you would set aside one live a week for teaching one specific thing. You wouldn’t get the old timers but those of us who are thirsty would be your following.

      It's not a tough job at all. Buy good profitable items. Make good listing and ship. It's all a numbers game. The more you list the more will sell. Keep in mind youtubers are performers. They tell you everything you want to hear so be careful. If met 2 different ones that have popular channels and their channels are acts.

      I dunno for sourcing it's easy when it's easy, when it's dry it's tough. At least for me in clothing, someone like Jride is in so many categories it becomes more difficult to have a dry day I'm guessing vs someone niched, but someone niched will tend to find strange exceptional items within their realm of expertise. I dunno if being an everything seller is really better or niching down and going to multiple spots. @@xokayb7l2

      Looking at your comments on his channel, it is very obvious you are old. He is not a tutor or private coach and you don’t own RUclips. Not everything is about you, this is RUclips. How crazy are baby boomers 😂

    • @llsotka6211
      @llsotka6211 6 месяцев назад +2

      @1954ddsp, consider a few things here. He lives in Utah, which most sellers know has amazing sourcing. I would say the best in the US. He also has employees. Yes, you and I are babyboomers. I have 3 stores on eBay, only 800 items listed total after the Christmas rush, and I do everything myself, alone. I wish I could hire someone just to take photos so I could grow faster, but I haven't maxed out my time yet so that will come later. It IS a numbers game and you learn as you go. Pick a nitch and jump in.

      I am turning 76 in 2024. I sell on eBay. I never have more than 20 to 30 items for sale. I sell for charity. 100% of my profit goes to my favorite charity. I have taught other seniors to sell.
      I watch RUclips selling videos all day. I love learning what garments younger people want. I was afraid that as a senior I wouldn’t be able to recognize and sell popular youthful styles. But I remembered that designer Betsy Johnson is 81 years old! And she designs youthful styles. She is my inspiration. Grandma Bunny 🐰 the elder reseller in Phx.

    I literally just started two weeks ago, and I was going to follow your initial advice and just start on eBay, but then I saw this video and decided to leap in with Mercari as well. I was frustrated with eBay’s 10 item limit for new sellers. I understand it,but, in my case I feel that I’ve been prepping for so long,I just finally wanted to get my listings out there. I’m so glad I did! So far I have sold one item on eBay and three on Mercari. I have 40 listing on Mercari and 9 on eBay, and I’m adding to Mercari every day. Once eBay let’s me more will go on there, too. Then I think I’ll head over to Poshmark. Right now this is enough. The two platforms are similar enough that it is really easy. It’s no doubt work, but I’m having fun and looking forward to lots more listings and sales! Thank you for your help and advice!

    Just picked up 2 DVD/VCR combo players from Goodwill today close to 100% STR on one and over 200% STR on the other going to test and list them today. Thanks for all the solid advice, it's very much appreciated. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast is what you were looking for.

      Hello could you tell me where or what kind of boxes do you use for shipping DVD / VHS Players? I’m a new reseller and nervous about shipping my combo players. Take Care

    • @JustAverageJeff
      @JustAverageJeff 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@brettlott570 any box that will fit will work. If you are really worried about it a few places sell double wall boxes but they are pretty pricey. It’s more about how you protect the player inside of the box that matters. You want to roll the item in enough bubble wrap to where you can’t see the item anymore and then you want to use foam or paper all around the player so that there is an inch or two of protection on all sides and that the player will not move around inside the box make sure everything is locked down and wrapped up and it will be good to go. One trick I saw was to buy a foam mattress topper from Walmart for $12 and then cut it to fit your item it’s roughly the same cost as bubble wrap.

    Love your conent man! I learned a lot in this intresting subculture of reselling. I frequently go to the flea market in texas cause my parents sells a bunch of mexican clothing, and i picked up an intresting leather bag and I cleaned it up and posted it on Ebay. Guess what, I have a few intreastead buyers and this leather bag might sell up to $250ish dollars! Still not sure if I should reduce the price but I've been binge watching "Flips" channels a lot. Thanks for the content and hope you have a nice year!

    Hey jride, I have 2 topics I’d love to have you address on a video:
    1. What is your listing process, can you show a walk through? You claim to list a ton of items in a very efficient time, curious if you have any tricks or shortcuts, if you use templates, things like that (I also list from the phone as I think you said you do)
    2. How do you lower your prices over time? We run sales once a month based on how long items have been listed. Do you do the same or are you spending hours going in and manually editing prices over time? Or something else?
    Fellow full time seller from Nebraska, keep up the awesome content. If you ever want to rebrand I’d go with “the resale wizard” 😂, your knowledge of reselling (except toys 😉) is top tier compared to other RUclipsrs

    Hey there, just watched your video and your plans to move to Northern Utah. We live in Sale Lake County. We have sourced NPS stores in Utah, Davis, and Salt Lake counties and they have nothing but junk. We have been e-commerce sellers for 22 years so we aren’t new at this. Please don’t decide your move based on supposed more opportunities. We typically have to source outside Utah for products worth reselling. We source everything from, retail, auctions, online arbitrage and recently bought a pallet. So please be careful before moving. Warm wishes on your upcoming surgery.

    My reselling goal is to pay off the loan I took from my 401k for a down payment on my house. After that, if I manage to figure all this out, I can start paying down my mortgage. For now I’m watching your content and taking it slow. Right now I’m listing things from around my house that I’m finding as I unpack and settle into my new home. So not much overhead there, lol I’ve been taking a bath on shipping but since I’m not putting out money to source it’s all working out in the end. I’m not putting as much weight on STR because these are items that have been sitting around already. If they sell, great, if not, I’ll go through my inventory in six months and donate the items that haven’t sold. Either way they’re out of my house which is part of my goal. I’m selling on eBay as an individual. I only have a handful of items listed and sell one item about every two weeks. Once I am fully unpacked I will begin to source from yard sales and thrift stores. I’m hoping once my inventory increases my sales will increase. Paying off that loan before the 14 year limit would be great! Thanks for all the great content. It’s been a big help!

    Open up a little resale shop where you can do all your ebay shipping and processing from between checking people out at the register. That way you have one more outlet and will have people actually bring you stuff every day. If the wife has to work full time somewhere, better to separate work/home life and you'll have much more space to do it in having a store.

    • @darrenleaguecity
      @darrenleaguecity 6 месяцев назад +1

      You become a prisoner to the store though. Trust me I had a video store back in the early 90's and as a 1 person operation it really limits your flexibility.

    • @lars_vegas
      @lars_vegas 6 месяцев назад

      The Shop kills the flexibility. Go to a garage sale or keep the shop open?
      Separating Work and living is good but you can do it under one roof eg. Just the basement for Work. But If both have to Drive somewhere to do the reselling Business they loose time and maybe push the fixcosts Up (Gas, Rent, 2 Cars etc)

    • @spankymagee
      @spankymagee 6 месяцев назад

      Yes but he's also talking about having up to 3 employees now. Plus his wife. If you have 5 people committed, having a shop could solve several space/convenience/tax/cash flow issues and one out of the 5 ppl in the business could always be there. It could even just be a Friday thru Sunday shop & accept donations during the week only. If you don't need the shop to make money, as whatever revenue it makes is just like a bonus, you can run it however you like. It can just essentially be your processing warehouse with a weekend storefront. And keeping those employees out of your home.

    Fact of the matter is there is just too many resellers. Contributes to lower inventory and harder to sell through. Pushes the prices down on most items. Have to work harder for less returns compared to a few years ago.

      @@JrideFlips I expressed myself wrong. I meant when the item on listing ends. Are you relisting as a similar item?Are you relisting as a similar item? Automatically without any intervention or changes on your part.

    Hello new subscriber here! I’m fairly new to reselling and I was wondering where do you get boxes to ship DVD/VHS players? I have some but scared to list them because of the shipping situation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Take Care

      On the filters, you may have to click on "Show more" at the bottom. You can eliminate the need to click on "Show more" by going to Customize (in the Filter view) and turning on "Expand All Filters".

    For us newbie that bought stuff we thought would sell, but haven’t, what do we do with those items? Bundle? Donate? Thanks!

      We kept all our unsold inventory until we had enough to do a garage sale. Sold stuff for cheap and did really well. Whatever was left we donated. But you do need somewhere to store the unsold inventory.

      You can also consider a consignment shop

    Is your plan to cross list everything to all platforms, or are you going to post clothes to Poshmark and hard goods to Mercari. I see some RUclipsr picking and choosing what they post where. Hopefully the question makes since.

      I only cross post clothing to poshmark because of the 20% fees. Electronics move fast so I will only list them on eBay and Mercari where the fees are cheaper

    I am clearing my house for good. I do have a lot of stuff, I worked at Goodwill 20 years ago and I am trying to learn how to get rid of the goods . Would you be interested in the things I know nothing about, like remote controls. I am learning about the things I know but you suppressed me what your videos. Can we actually skip the platforms?
