- NEW VIDEO:
See the evolution of Windows through its sounds at startup and shutdown.
Also, most "Windows Startup and Shutdown Sounds" videos have some widespread inaccuracies especially with betas and also Windows 8 to 10. Why?
• Windows did not have any sounds before Windows 3.0 MME
• Windows NT 5.0/2000 Beta 1 and Beta 2 doesn't use the Windows 2000 beta 3 builds 1946 - 1969 startup as a shutdown, it uses the shutdown sound from NT 4.0.
• Windows ME (before builds 2476), used Windows 98 sounds, not Windows 2000 builds 1983 - 2000.3 sounds.
• No builds of Whistler ever used or even included the widespread startup and shutdown sound you have mostly heard. The fake startup sound was made using Windows 98's shutdown sound, but reversed, Windows 2000 build 1983 to build 2000.3's startup sound reversed, and the Next Level sound from Spring Weekend in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack, and the shutdown sound came from BeOS. Whistler uses Windows 2000 sounds up until 2485, where the XP sounds were starting to be used
• The widespread Windows Server 2003 UK startup is fake. It came from a promotional animation cut by TheCanadianToast. No country-specific edition of Windows was ever made until Microsoft was forced to make N and KN variants for Europe and South Korea respectively which removes Windows Media Player and other features due to antitrust legislation; Windows did not have English (UK) as a display language option until Windows 8 and Server 2012. All versions and localizations of Windows Server 2003 use the Windows XP startup sound.
• Windows Home Server uses XP sounds as it's based on Server 2003.
• No build of Windows Vista (including pre-reset) used or even included the widespread sound scheme that appears in several fanmade Longhorn or Vista themes, which appears to be a sound scheme titled "Deep Fantasy", which was commercially available on NEO Sounds, a stock sound/music website, until 2006. The Windows XP sounds remain and are used in all pre-reset builds, with a few being swapped with Vista sounds between builds 5466 and 5840.16384.
• Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 have the Vista/7 startup sound, but it's disabled by default. How to enable the startup sound in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10:
- Go to Control Panel\Hardware\Sound
- Check "Play Windows startup sound" in the Sounds section of the window
- Disable fast startup: www.windowscentral.com/how-di...
• Windows Logon.wav is unused.
• Windows Startup.wav in C:\Windows\Media, isn't the startup sound, despite the filename. With Windows Vista and up, the startup sound is stored in C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll.

- The Windows NT images up to NT 5.0/2000 build 1796 are not the actual boot screens, they are backgrounds titled: PRELIM.BMP for the first NT build, WINNT.BMP for NT builds up to 3.51, WINNT256.BMP for 3.51-2000 build 1773.
- The year after the mentioned version/s are the years when it was developed until either its last Service Pack (SP) or OEM Service Release (OSR)

Great video. No fake sounds
Well you need to update the video:
Windows NT 4.0 build 1273 is the first build of NT 4.0 to use the NT 4.0 RTM startup and shutdown sound.
soon
@@WindowsBetaCamp okay, look forward to the updated video.

@StomperYoshi where is that fish
You can look from internet and i tested too.
You missied windows 95 build 405 have a diffent boot screen, and you put wrong boot screen on windows 95 build 222
Who is that fish coming from 20:05
Where is 3.1 Build 26?
this is an older video, check my newer video
It's funny how it is very intricate in the builds for almost all of the versions but when it reaches windows 10 it just skips everything right over as if the RTM was the only "build" for it. The same goes for Server 2016, Server 2019, 10X, and 11.
After 2015 they stopped I guess
There were loads of builds
20:04 okay what happened to the boot screen I checked my betawiki about this build that bootscreen is not real
betawiki.net/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/133178 it was an error made by the person who uploaded the original bootscreen featured on my video. Also, I edited the video before the page was changed.
@@WindowsBetaCamp ok thx for the help

No builds were made or leaked, and if there were any it would have the same sounds as Windows 2000/ME
That’s not the Windows 10X Startup Sound.
proof
@@WindowsBetaCamp Where’d you get it from? I haven’t seen or heard it anywhere?
