I've watched several of your videos. You have very good information, but your camera shots would be more helpful if you filmed more of the roof while you are talking (you're quite handsome, so that is not the problem). It would just help to see more of the project detail, to go with your excellent explanations.
Word of advice regarding the metal detail on the flat roof. Install base over edge covering approximately 2” Run cover sheet to outside edge. Install metal detail and strip in metal ( do not forget to prime metal. ) with at least 6” over onto the deck surface. Do not forget to set metal in roofing cement if a asphalt based product. If TPO Follow the instructions by the manufacturer.
I have same setup on my home...shingles draining down onto low slope rubber. The question I can't seem to find an answer to is....what about the nail holes in the rubber where the shingles come down over the rubber? I can't wrap my head around the ice water shield and rubber being completely trustworthy with nail holes in it. I've seen how much water can come through a nail hole...and it's more than what most would think is possible...sometimes even with the nail still in it. I thought about putting a strip of tar down first where my nail line will be, and then nailing down. What's your thoughts on that?
hows it going,i had a deck added on to the back of my house and 12 ft of it is covered ,so the guy put the 2x6's on top of my house roof slant cutter them, then put tar paper and shingles,I'm in texas,no snow here,so its leaking,so i need to take off the shingles and tar paper and I'm guessing from here on,any tips,I'm going to apply tar and go up further on roof with something.i want to put something under it to stop the leaking then put new shingles down.any tips, besides tar paper.im going to home depot for supplies, thanks, very nice work btw
Nice video. I think you should have sold the home owner a new roof. It's toast.
