    Do you have any tips for the post-ride ritual? Maybe you have a horror story from someone who unfortunately lets their bike rot 😢🤦‍♂️?

      Basically washing a ebike is the same as washing a normal bike.

    • @CarkeekW
      @CarkeekW 3 года назад

      a pre wash with the hose on mist to make the dirt loose, hose off the bulk dirt till you have a muddy film left , apply mucoff and leave it as long as you can without it drying out, avoiding direct sunlight . then a scrub with a soft brush followed by a hose off while its still wet. Finnish off with a microfibre cloth over the parts you like shiny and relube the chain and store it till next time and wipe the excess just before the next ride.

      @@CarkeekW mucoff is the biggest con out there 🤣. For about 28 years now I've been using a garden hose/jet washer a, bucket with dash of fairy liquid in on all my bikes never had one issue of any wear. These paid promotion video are just there to sell people thungs. They don't need. For the drive chain I use a citrus degreaser bought in bulk from a local hardware shop 5L is about 12 quid and it lasts me at least a couple of years as I dilute it. I get no premature chain or bearing wear.
      Each to their own but muc off cleaner is a right rip!

      The most common mistake is using dry lube or wet lube or any other chain oil. Use Squirt Lube chain wax! Just apply the wax and clean the chain with a dry cloth. No other chain cleaning is nessesary. No more sticky black stuff on the cassette or chain. Since i started using chain wax i always have a clean chain and cassette and they last a lot longer too. Try it! 😊👌

    Since I'm a motorhead, I have an air compressor in the garage that I use to dry the bike after a wash. It's great for blowing water away from the electrical bits and out of the chain.

    as well as bouncing the frame when wet - I will then apply the front brake and walk the bike into an endo (back wheel directly above front wheel) and hold it there (while stood next to bike, not on it). Then do the same for the other end while applying back brake. Surprising how much water comes out of the internal cable routes etc. Then ride around the streets if it's dry weather.

    Good trick to shake of the water after a wash is to hold the bike by the handlebar and bounce it on the back wheel a few times. The next good thing would be to pedal the bike in your repair or wash stand and run pressurized air through the chain and once dry relube the chain.

    • @embn
      @embn  3 года назад +1

      A compressor and microfiber combo is the dream! Just got to be careful not to drive water into the places you don't want it.

      @@embn Yep and aiming the air down makes sure you do not get anything near your brakes. But a little spin on the brake rotors with isopropyl alcohol and cloth to finish off the clean will make sure your brakes will be in tip top condition for the next ride as well. Great stuff!

    During a ride in early spring I forgot to put on the battery cover. Came back to find the battery plastered with wet mud. Took it out, cleaned it, sprayed the battery bay including all electric contacts with garden hose water, let it drain and dry out for 2 days, then applied cheapo electric contact spray from auto parts shop, put battery back in. No problems whatsoever.

    These videos are amazing I've watched 3 EMBN bike wash videos now and all say different things, battery out, don't spray anywhere near electrics or motor, the battery in, do use a power washer, just use a brush, just use water no cleaner, dry it, don't fry it, it'll drain, it'll rust everywhere - so confused - What is the best practice?? Focus Jam2 can I wash it almost like a normal bike with the battery in just avoiding drowning the motor and controls?? Thanks

      @johnwarner129 3 года назад +2

      Yes I leave the battery in and wash my Jam2 with a hose pipe with spray head attached. There pretty waterproof and I’ve never had an issue doing this.

    no need to use any of these fancy expensive muc off products, pressure wash the worst off avoiding the bb and battery area, sponge down with car shampoo and finially get the air compressor out and blast away all the water, perfect for getting the chain looking new. finish off with a micro fibre.

    For me there's only one lube. A lube that needs no care for 150km of riding (except removing water from the drivetrain), a lube that does not attract dirt and therefore doesn't leave a disgusting broth when cleaning, a lube that proglongs chain and therefore cassette life massively. The chain is so clean you don't need to fear touching it and leaving black tattoos everywhere. Hot bath paraffin waxing (with about 2%wt tungsten disulfide nanopowder) is the way to go and WAY less labour intensive in the end. Never ever going back to any liquid dirt magnet.

    I just cringe when I see you guys using those huge brushes.... A painter brush is enough for the surface of a bike. If you cannot find one that is full plastic and has a metal collar just wrap some electric tape over the metal part to avoid scratching the paint....
