I like these "Chibson"videos. 👍👍
me too..it's my Neigbour ..wtf?
“Just go buy an Epiphone”. 😂 Or maybe a Japanese Tokai? 🤔👍
Oh please Dave, do a video on a Chickenbacker 12 string.
Get an Epiphone!😄 Those Chibsons do look good from a distance though.🤣
A waking nightmare. thanks for illustrating
Gotta respect any Stooge reference ❤️❤️❤️
For me, it was either the wood pointer or the wood yard stick 😭
Epiphone's are better than Gibson in some cases
I just did a full setup on a “inspired by Gibson” Epiphone 335. Folks, don’t waste your money, save up for the real thing. Good video Dave.
Sorry to disagree, I've had a few 335s over the years... A '62, a '68, great guitars, and the LAST one a Nashville custom 2006 335 in sparkle cherry red...
It's a dog... binding is very very bad (red spray paint on it and it has shrunken) neck joint very sloppy . Frets on the bound neck have been cut/filed too short so the two E strings fall of the side (sounds like a sitar) had to change the nut but still no joy. '59 classic PAFs sound muddy and uninspiring.
I can hear y'all saying "it's a fake"... But it's not, 100% sure of that. I also have a Chinese made blonde Epiphone Sorrento, think Gibson 135 (1 of only 850 made, ordered new via the net) which plays like a dream, Gibson mini humbuckers, beautiful finish, light as a feather with hard case... a really lovely guit.
The 2nd hand 335 cost €1800 15 years ago.
The brand new Epi was €800 10 years back.
So I'm seriously considering an Epi 335 with some Seymour Antiquitie PAFs or something similar.
The Gibson is SO bad I'd be uncomfortable selling it. 🥵
Congratulations to Dave for making the chibsons sing again!
Tonight on a very special episode of DWOFS Dave threatens to use his strap on us and asks the not so musical question: which is the most painful of holds used in wrestling at a Catholic school ? 1) the half nelson or 2) the full nelson or 3) the Father Nelson. Stay tuned
We used to have an 18 inch barbers strap at the house, thanks uncle Ken, I heard tons of horror stories from my buddies at the Catholic School. Our PT days were always different so when we had one I'd go to St. Mary's and play with my buddies during recess and then torture the vice principle as he chased me around yelling at me to get back to class😁
Thanks, Dave. That guitar makes my guitars look good.
Yup - I had an Epiphone Dot 335 but only played it occasionally, so got a Harley Benton 335 copy secondhand and sold the Epiphone. It's still 20 times better than that Chibson and for £100/$110 without any danger of some poor schmuck buying it after I die thinking it's a real Gibson. Don't like the fake headstock nonsense. Only people who even care are other guitarists anyway lol. Nothing wrong with guitars from China as long as they don't pretend to be Gibson or Fender :)
I would raise the tail-piece, then top wrap my strings.
Then work on intonation...then pickup heights.
A string-butler would aid in tuning stability too.
I love messin' with guitarz too !
good luck
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff This guy Dan here is lost in the sauce haha.
String butlers suck.
Patience is one of your virtues. Nice work Canuck. And it’s Deja Mao for Chibsons.
More like TA MA DE!!!
Lets open up the hairy end of this thing.......This is exactly why I love this channel! Go Dave!
At 3:34 in you already have a back bow, and then you tighten the truss rod and even say
That it's getting worse...
If it's getting worse, go the other way!
thanks..2 way truss rod much STFU
subscribe make a video or STFU 3 options
The nuns who taught me used the pointer or ruler. Each nun who administered corporal punishment did so with extremely poor accuracy, they hit me everywhere. That was a long time ago, I’m almost better now.
Same here. Sister Margret George was brutal back in the 1960s.
Same here. One nun broke her ruler on me which really pissed her off so it was the pointer every time after that. By 6th grade the nun was big enough to jack you up against the wall and slap the shit out of you. I’m still scared of nuns.
@@sd3falco my education by nuns was also in the 60’s. Perhaps if the priests from the parish would have made conjugal visits, they wouldn’t have been so vicious.
Well you WOULD be a catholic!
@@sd3falco What about Sister Mary-Elephant?
It's a beautiful day in the Chibsonhood, a beautiful day for a Chibson, can it be mine? Can it be mine?
It looks good though Dave; maybe Chibson’s are meant to just hang on the wall. 😂
wall of FIRE
oh my, the Crapson is back
I owned a late 80's early 90's Epiphone Sheraton II that had that same wobbly neck. I'm pretty sure it was made out of al-dente pasta, not wood.
Hand that over to Pete Townshend.
Charlie must have the Chibson market cornered...
More Chibsons!!!
I wonder if the next time Charlie comes to the door, Dave doesn't answer it?
When a boy (teenager) was caught not paying enough attention to the priest, the student had to stand upright, arms outstretched as if being crucified with the Lectionary supported by one open hand and the Sacramentary by the other until the priest showed mercy.
'God is 'Love''? Pfft yer roight!
Ask the sawbones about the Abbot Neurostimulator. It helped me - not the silver bullet but it helps quite a bit 🎸
Catholic School? You too? Oh the memories!
Hard to imagine a guitar built in China to no other spec than to fool people 10 feet away into thinking it's a Gibson could have so many problems.
If Charlie trades that thing for a Donner, wonder how much boot he'd have to pay?
Nice color for a guitar.
wow what a mess of a guitar, but dave at least you made it playible it seems!! thanks for sharing
most new epiphones are 10x better than whatever the hell this is lol
If you buy an Epiphone it will also need work but they are worth it.
Good job Dave!
Paging Dr. Howard.. Dr. Fine.. Dr. Howard… hannacannpannasanna !!
Calling Dr. Love.
Great video.
Chibsons, just buy an Epiphone.
It's crap and you tried to polish a turd! Looks nice though. All that glitters is not gold. Thanks for showing how rubbish these things can be. Don't buy 'em! Even Harley Benton will give you a cheap workable tunable option, and yes, Epiphone, are good value compared to the Big G - sometimes!
Don't put a Bigsby on a Chibson (or a Gibson) ! Leave Bigsbys for Gretsches ! Yes I am predjudice (or protective) !
That bridge is ridiculously high! Neck angle is awful!
How many of these things does your neighbor have??
a container full?
It’s throwing money at a headstock
for fun and you looked..so?
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff Everyone looks at a train wreck
Does the bridge match that super flat 15” radius?
Yes ..that's why I had to use it :(
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff Thanks, Dave. I knew the roller bridge didn’t match, but given the guitar’s origins, I could easily imagine that bridge not matching either.
Can Charlie even play these things?
YES
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff Well....we'll need a "Charlie and Dave" video then!
IMHO I’m not a fan of Chibson and I don’t condone to buying them. It’s counterfeit. Also a waste of money and time to fix them. Sorry 🤷🏻♂️….. My elementary principal had a strap like that and he felt free to give it to anyone that was out of line. 5x on each hand.
This has to be about the worst example, or should I say the BEST example, of how NOT to do a setup! There are at least half a dozen things being done wrong; however, I'll just point out a couple 1.When tuning the guitar, he starts with the high E string. WRONG! One should start with the low E string, as it puts the most tension on the neck of all the strings, and will pull that neck/truss rod forward more than any of the other strings, changing the relief the MOST. If one starts with the high E, it has the least amount of tension on the neck/truss rod, and will change the relief the LEAST. By the time one gets to the low E, that'll pull the neck into more relief and throw out the tuning of the rest of the strings. 2. A two-way truss rod does NOT work the same in both directions "Righty is tighty and lefty is also tighty" - WRONG. That's not how a two-way truss rod works. Y'all can Google this one for yourselves. Single-action truss rods only pull the neck in one direction - back AGAINST the pull of the strings. Two-way truss rods can pull against the strings (backbow) AND push the neck towards the strings (front bow) for those rare necks that may need that. No WONDER the truss rod "didn't magically set itself" and "nothing played". Hey, at least it worked when it came into your den or horrors, right? 3. He constantly derides the customer for owning a "Chibson" - NOT good customer service. And not a good way to retain existing customers, or obtain new ones. Who wants to be talked about that way? 4. Final adjustments should be done in the playing position, NOT with the neck resting on a block. That just throws everything off. 5. Finally, we saw the neck taped for fret leveling and crowning, but we didn't actually see the process. I kinda wish we had, as I'm sure I could find at least a couple more errors to critique. I wouldn't let this guy near ANY of my guitars - not even my Chibson! Don't be like this guy. No WONDER he hides his face!
Who is playing bass in the intro music?
Me ..Cheers !!
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff Cheers🍻 Sounds good!!
Sorry to hear that Mr. @#$&*% Pinchy is back.
Mr Screwdriver
For the money spent on all those Chibsons, the owner could have purchased a few actual Gibson "DEMO" USA and/or Custom Shop guitars from the Reverb Gibson store. Real Gibsons. Better investment all the way around.
could have would have should have..it's for fun..so GFO
