very nice, nothing beats a 335; best guitar in the world. Everyone should be given one at birth
i am slightly below average height for a man, the 335 is too bulky. at least i assume, i haven't played one but i've played a Broadkaster and it was too big. my Broadkaster Junior is perfect. so i am VERY interested in trying a 339. also, from tone comparisons on youtube, i like the 339 better. tighter break-up.
@@fistovuzi tone comparison on youtube... that's funny
@@rodnyg7952 EXACTLY. i could tell even with youtube compression. besides, the functional differences between the 335 and 339 would be similar to the difference between a Gretsch Broadkaster and a Gretsch Broadkaster Junior. i am familiar with both these guitars.
@@fistovuzi if you say so. why are you telling me all this?
@@rodnyg7952 who knows? i'm a strange guy.
Poor Dave, I hope you can find someone who can straighten out your truss rod. Keep the positive vibes going.
Dave, I have had great success dealing with back and hip issues by eliminating all the doctors and spending half an hour a day on an inversion table. You don't have to do a full inversion to relieve the pressure on your spine and hips. Going over just enough to reverse the gravity on your back is enough. After being inverted for 10 minute walk your shoulders back and repeat that every few minutes afterward. I am in inch taller after being on the table for half an hour than I was before I got on it. It takes a few times on the table to get comfortable with the inversion. I go over about 15-20º from level with the floor. Just enough to decompress the spine.
Yes! This! 👆
my walnut ES 335 came brand new from L&M way back in 1973... still got the bugger, still plays like a dream...
As a Patreon, I am glad to see you back at it, no apologizes necessary ;)
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Dave!
Back pain sucks, L5 disc laminectomy 10 years ago, but still have to be careful....get better soon Dave!
Had LL3 disc laminectomy, pain never goes away. As my doc said your life will change dramatically and not for the good.
Thanks Dave. Hope you get your back sorted out. Beautiful 335!
Hi Dave, I purchased a new Gibson LP Standard recently, and because of all your experience and knowledge I knew what to look for in selecting a good LP! Thank you very much Sir!
Dave… proving on his own single-handedly that there some point to Canadia! It great - well done 😊
Following your channel for years. Good to see you show up in my feed again, Dave. Recent herniated discs. No fun, for sure. Take care
I feel your pain! L-4, L-5 Lamenectomy failed. Week later emergency Mini Discectomy. Now Drop foot and worse pain...
Good to see you, as always. Sorry to hear things went sideways. Yes, we miss you, but you gotta take care of you first. Till the next video.✌️
Dave, I'm a FNP and relieve my anterior nerve pressure by sliding off my bed head first while laying on my back while staring at the ceiling, lol...
Sorry about the joint injections... Best Always
My Dad had a back operation in 1982. He was in hospital for 8 weeks. A mate of mine had the same procedure last year and was disappointed to stay in overnight! Those surgeons now fix your back how you fix guitars - maybe they’ll put the video on their ‘gooched’ channel? 👍
Sorry to hear about your back, I have the same problem with my disks but in Canada and the medical system that they have be happy you are still working, you are not the first one to end up with it right
I'd say a solid white one would be pretty...and probably show less smudges.
Nice looking guitar thanks , Dave
I've dealt with back issues too. I'm 67 suffer from sciatica to leg drop that lasts for days. L1,4,5 S1. Years of lifting heavy PA systems, big screen TV's (the oak cabinets), tool boxes, etc.. Get a tens machine, some ice packs and heating pad. Tens will unlock the muscles then heat and cold treatment. Wear a back brace when lifting and twisting things. Ibuprofen ointment is OTC and should help too.
Great shows Dave. I hope this helps for more of your invaluable lessons!
Great T - Shirt…..
I’m looking up for those today
Good luck with your back.
L5 S1 Spondilolisthesis here.
Anterior surgery…disc replacement
$$$$….
Good result
Would pay money again
Always a throw of the dice
😊good to see you back !!! Aloha !!
All good vibes for your health always...... You're such a rare pro with skill, sanity and love for guitars because you honor music and the machines that make them.
"Clues for Columbo" , Funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
Great Video Dave, Thanks!!
Thanks for hangin' in there, Dave!
I’ve had injections, he said he’ll do injections a couple at a time, until he finds which disc is the problem, if found then cauterize the nerves on that disc.
Like these strings you might need some stretching. Hope you get it all sorted out soon! ✌️
You da Workin Man!
Glad you’re alright. I look forward to learning from you and of course, your no-nonsense commentary is priceless.
Sorry about your back, maybe you need a truss rod adjustment? Seriously though, try a inversion table. Thanks for the cool videos.
Inversion table can help a lot of issues - and non-invasive too.
I have a severely damaged back too. Injections never did shit. But I had an nerve ablation last December & gave me some relief. After 6 months it’s starting to wear off but some guys get over a year of relief. Just an FYI.
I hope you feel better soon Dave!
Glad to see you back posting videos Dave.
I have that guitar. It’s great. I also have an Epiphone which comes awfully close in sound quality (but is trapped in a thick glossy finish unfortunately). I forget what my point was…. Anyway, best wishes for your recovery
Sorry about the back troubles, Dave. I hope they ultimately resolve.
Dave. Is the neck pickup ring backwards?
Pickup seems to be angled rather than level with strings. My 335 was the same.
Lol Alex Lifestyles and Columbo in the same video! 😅
Hi from Australia, love the drop bears shirt ! I had the same experience with Cortesone in my lower back
I had a series of back injections over 4 months about 25 years ago. They did little to no good (last one went a little sideways). Surgery helped, still have some sciatica and now muscle spasms from surgical scar tissue. Hope something works for you Dave.
Glad to have you
HE LIVES!!!!
Man I’v had injections done on my back, I even had a thing called nerve oblation where they burnt the nerves off on my facet joints of my spine and none of that helped or worked. Chronic back pain is awful. It’s steals all the joy out of life. I’m sorry man.
Great video.
that thing is pretty needs to stay that way thx Dave
Most new Gibsons have a matte, "dried out look" due to the stuff they put on them. Just how they're making them.
Wish you well, Dave! :)
It’s drop bear season here in australia ,:)
Hope you get the back problems solved, I've been there too and it's no fun.
Glad your back...drink plenty of water and eat an edible after dinner....just one or a half of one...no mas...take care. 🙏
you're*
I love how you talk Dave don’t goon yourself 💯🤘🏻
gooch. goon means something entirely different 😳
I think if you do enough injections they will eventually freeze the nerves in your back.I heard it helps. The "normal" injections dont work. They dont do opioids anymore. They cause the pain to be worse anyway.
Koala Life says that Drop Bears is a common prank that Australians play on visitors. There is an extinct ancestor of the koala that lived in trees and was carnivorous.
Is that geeky or what?
Everything is done in paisley! Get better bro. PEACE!!
I’ve learned alot from you you are awesome
What's an alot?
I have a titanium plate in my neck covering 2 bone plugs after I blew 2 vertebrae out. I get steroid injections in my low back due to arthritis and bulging discs, I also have a device that sends electric pulses to my mid back due to arthritis and injections no longer working. Backs a mess but could be way worse. Also have chronic kidney stones. Stopped counting at 100 passed or removed. Other than that I’m fantastic!
I have had steroid injections in my back and my neck never did help everything remains the same lots of pain 👍🏻🤘🏻
I am Joe's trussrod...
Dave, you take care of Dave ! We appreciate your videos. But your health is more important.
Epidurals and a hot tub can do wonders. Take care of yourself- we need you……. Much love 🤟
Really nice guitar but a horrible non setup before you fixed all the problems. great learning video for some. hops your drs figure out how to fix your back. its sad your not comfortible at least. thanks buddy ill say a prayer for you
I have a black Gibson that has old old sweat stains on the body. Any suggestions on getting that out? I tried light fluid, bit it's still there. Regular polish/cleaner doesn't seem to help either.
A fingerprint on your camera kept appearing as a DNA smudge or finish blemish on the guitar. At first I wondered why it wouldn't wipe off, then you moved the guitar and the smudge moved to your arm. Incidental special effect? 😌
So there's no way I can watch this on PRIME or NETFLIX or HULU ?
Joe Bonamasa!
Someday I hope to own a real, Gibson ES-335, much like that one……
Dave I often wonder why you do things as about face. I dunno.
No trapezoid inlays? Pretty lame.
11's neck break city.
I hit the sack....
Leaving all of those loops on the tuning pegs doesn't help with tuning stability. The more loops, the more slack to cause issues. Also, having the string all the way down at the bottom of the tuning peg causes greater break angle at the nut which makes the strings more stiff to play.
goochles paul?
Jesus, that neck angle is so extreme…. It looks steeper on 335’s than LP’s for some reason…. Team Fender for life…
Dave, get a different doctor, they're like guitar repair, some are better than others.
That thing looks old ! Dirty , dry , not very well maintained!!!
I'm sorry that your lumbar steroid shots haven't helped you Dave ..you must have a herniated disc there are other non invasive treatments to try..
Going to 11 is always fun
first time i noticed. no binding in the f-holes. is this normal on Gibsons?
i expect the answer is "tradition", that Gibson never bound f-holes. but it looks "cheap". and now i can't unsee it.
No real techs wrap strings in knots.
