Thank you for an honest review 🙏❤️ people also say “you get what you pay for” …. But that’s not always true. I’d rather support a struggling local restaurant than a corporate cookie cutter place.
Unfortunately, that seems to be pretty typical of the MGM Grand restaurants that I’ve visited: Overpriced pedestrian dishes. The Wynn restaurants, for example, are pricey, but the dishes are absolutely fantastic. You don’t leave feeling ripped off.

Hi Danny, any Dim Sum appraisal should begin with the Shrimp Har Gow. If that doesn't pass the taste test then the rest will be substandard. Thanks ! For LV locals, Ping Pang Pong in the Gold Coast is good quality and reasonably priced.
I have been going to LV for 44 years, probably have one more trip in me, usually go twice a year last once because of F1 disruption. Your review spot on. I am sick and tired of the ridiculous prices charged on the strip; at restaurants, for water or other room supplies and the reduction of basic amenities or necessities like a clean room in supposedly quality casinos.
Loved this review. Your reaction reminded me of when Jay Rayner got a kebab and ate it outside a Salt Bae restaurant with ridiculous prices. I do enjoy fancy places but too expect them to be special for the food and ambiance.
Hell's bell's!! That's freakin' mad expensive! It ain't like they'd have huge power bills to pay🤣Maybe the whole concept is along the lines of the emperor's new clothes? Thanks for trying the 'penguins' on my behalf!
Thanks for your video Danny. I’m going to put in my 2¢ on the restaurant. It’s in a casino. I’m thinking it’s artificially high priced as a come on. If you go in an pay it, they got you and you probably won’t return but that’s not why they’re there. Say you’re a big player as I think you are and your host see’s your action and visits you at the table and says here’s a comp to our fancy Chinese restaurant Hakkasan. The host writes a big comp and you and maybe a wife a girlfriend, whoever goes with you to dine. You see the prices and feel good. You’re getting a nice comp and it has a high value. Over always seen casino restaurants with higher than normal pricing and figure that’s the place they comp to. The food is good enough, you weren’t spitting it out, has fancy verbiage on the menu and everything is good. The gambler gets his fancy meal and the casino probably owns the restaurant and it’s all a write off. I got more Danny videos to watch, keep up the great work. Joe
I do not agree.........Ping Pang Pong and KJ Seafood are both in casinos. Both places are very reasonably priced as are many other well known casino restaurants. This so called restaurant group is ripoff whether it is in a casino or a Mall. AVOID.
Aloha Danny the Medic, excellent vlogg on this Hakassan dim sum. Several years ago I was treated to a dinner there , our host wanted his family , we were a party of 18 young people, to experience this establishment . I open the check at the end and he was charged a total of over $4,000 and mostly for non-alchol drinks. Dim Sum was small portions , very similar to what you featured. Of course I was still hungry since we had to share thes portions of 4 pcs, altho we could order what we wanted, I kinda held back, for I felt it was not worth it, our host should have taken us to China towm.. But I agree, Hakassan is definitely a Big Time rip off. Continue to do your vloggs, my husband and I are just addicted to your channel and look forward to your vlogges. Much Aloha, hope to have some dim sum or sushi with you when I visit Las Vegas.
Hakkasan turns DOWN the lights so you cannot see, turns UP the music so you cannot hear, jacks UP the price so we can choke on the dang friggin hai gow and sui mai! Thank you so much for your honest review of this place. They want to kill the chicken to get the egg. One shot deal and never go back. In this case, I am NEVER going to an overpriced joint called Hakkasan! I prefer a local eatery. 🤣🤣🥰
all these high-end upscale restaurants are like that - dark and loud. but chinese food (most asian food for that matter) is cheap comfort food, i would never pay that much (yes i can afford it).
The reason for high prices is most diners are using their MGM Rewards points and the only cash they pay out of pocket is the tip. BTW they look more like small gooey ducks than penguins lol
Hakkasan is really expensive. I been to the one in SF, near the financial district and prices were high. It's been permanently shutdown now since the pandemic.Hakkasan is for the HIGH rollers :-)
Considering that some of the best Chinese food in the U.S. can be found at Ping Pang Pong or in a half-dozen places on Spring Mountain Road, let's leave Hakasan to the expense-account and nightclub people.
Most people go for the experience the ambience something romantic and haven’t had most of the things on the menu so they would know the difference it’s like the opportunity of a lifetime
There's a story, which may not be true, that a company introduced a brown spicy mustard condiment that was really delicious. They test marketed the product and people who tried it loved it but it was not selling well. The price was a bit higher than ordinary mustard but not by much. They were afraid the product wouldn't sell enough to justify producing it but they didn't want to lose what they had already invested in the product. One of the people in marketing suggested raising the price substantially, double or triple the price. They theorized that people would buy the product because many believe that the more something costs, the better it is. It worked and they started selling a lot of mustard.
oh, yes, lots of products like that. Sometimes the less popular the item is the more you have to charge in order to justify the production costs and everything so usually if somethings very expensive it just means no one else likes it… not that its better lol
Shesh, how does it compare to Din Tai Fung or Tim Ho Wan? I think I'd have gone to Chinatown (even with cost of Uber) and had 3 plates or more. Or even to DTF or THW. Thx for taking 1 for the team.
Thank you for going to Hakkasan and exposing their ripoff. This same group opened a dim sum place called Yauatcha in Houston Galleria area several years and tried to do the same thing. Went out of business very quickly. I was also very insulted that an African American server was explaining to me what Dim Sum is. Uhhhhhhh. I am a 52 year old Asian American and my family has been in the restaurant business in NYC Chinatown for many years. Her service was excellent but comon, schooling an Asian on Ha Gow and Sui Mai?????? WTF?????
Joel Robuchon’s….. how many more times must you be reminded? As Tony Little famously said “YOU CAN DO IT! “. Look it up if you don’t believe me! Thank you for the video Danny!🎉❤
OK, I get that they did a huge markup because they used higher end products. But how do you call something a har gow if there's no shrimp? And from what I'm reading, langoustine (which I've never had) is more like lobster, so the texture on the har gow would be different. And mincing up expensive pork into a shu mai seems like a waste of expensive pork. Final thing - Hakka Chinese food doesn't usually have dim sum. So having dim sum at a place called Hakkasan seems a bit weird to me.
Just looked into it... appears to be a nutjob went wild, this kinda stuff happens every now and then in NYC.. but nutjob going wild on general public happens alot more and gets less media.

Paying for the experience. Their rent could be very high and people gambling lots of money so this is small considering they can lose that amount or more in 1 hand in 30 seconds.
If you want to talk about robbery, let's talk about the airports not letting you take in a bottle of water and then charging you $5 for a bottle of Dasani. Tap water for $5!

Please tell us that was comped. I thought Hakkasan was a nightclub.

It confused me also but they had a club upstairs, maybe the source of the horrible thumping noise I heard
