This work is as fantastic as the first one I heard. Your second symphony. Your counterpoint is well designed and the woodwinds are striking. It's a pleasure to be able to follow your work on this platform.
The modulations in the middle section of the final movement make for an interesting transition back to the opening theme Gives me a few ideas for my next symphony
The slow movement is my favorite, it has the most distinguished material and is beautifully composed. You really let it breathe and it is just lovely...poised somewhere between Haydn and Boccherini. And then there are these moments of expression that hint at a contemporary source. Very charming. A nice place to start in the classical tradition. The overall production could have been crisper in keeping with that classical style and with a bit more dynamic contrast. The finale feels the most Mozartian. New subscriber. Like 7.
Hi John, thank you for your kind words and insight! I’m glad you liked it, Haydn and Mozart were definitely the biggest influences here, I hope to continue with this style and get better at it. Thanks!
That 3rd movement is great, but could be even nicer with some additional timpani for support and emphasis. However, this piece sounds like it was meant to be written a bit earlier before the timpani was used. Was that your approach?
love the first movement, but when the melody was introduced it seemed a bit off. The melody sounded great with the full (computer) orchestra, but it seemed off isolated. I just don't really know how to fix this. Maybe try using the basses and cellos to introduce the main melody and have them play something to contrast the main theme. That can make it a more comfortable introduction for the listener.

Thank you for your comment! This was written in the style of an early Haydn symphony, so quite small in terms of instrumentation.
@@calebshepard8005 yeah, that's what I figured. Great piece!
