  • We start out shifts up today, so its Dad onto the seeder this morning.
    Once we get it all filled and calibrated again George is off on his day and that means it then time for us to get the spreader calibrated and Dad out killing mice.
    We also have some fun installing some agbots

    You put dirt on new tracks to get silica in the rubber. Acts as a lubricant. Might be able to use kitty litter as well.

    Would you just prickle chain before you start your planting to break up the stubble?
    Most farmers in my area do this.

    Seeding through the rock piles Will surely boost the yield for this year...😂😂😂
    Have you considered demoing a stripper header on the barley and wheat?

      We wouldn’t have any chance of getting through stripper stubble.

      Good point' there... You would probably have to change your planter to a disc planter...😊

    Just curious. Is there any dye color that could be used to coat the canola seed so there would be a greater contrast between the seed and soil color?

      Blue in Canada

      The seed coating we put on turns it a bright red. The issue is that as we are going at a low rate not much canola comes out during the seed check so that’s what makes it difficult to see

      @tomsbrookfarm How about a phosphorescent yellow that would be easier to see especially at night with a torch.

    Agtron Flow Blockage monitor would save you a lot of trouble Tom.

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  9 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately they cause more of a headache than what they achieve. Once you get a slight bit of moisture it gums up the monitor and sets them off when they aren’t blocked.
      We have had them on before and spent more time cleaning them when there wasn’t a block then them actually telling us there was a block
