      wow, do we know when the building was constructed? in america, recently also there was a huge apartment building/tower collapse.

    People think this story is gonna be answered in a week. The enyobeni tavern story with 23 dead kids still has no actual answer and thats 2-3 years old and state capture that collapsed our economy 10year and forgotten

      1. Zimbabwe has their names because their families back in
      2. Zimbabwe knows that they were working there illegally and their friends who survived informed them.

      @@peterbrigden2124 Inge Lotz murder case was also a mess and just vanished and also had international attention. I read they stated 1/7 murders get solved. Over 8000 criminals released yearly and it costs taxpayers R8000 in 2018 per inmate. So criminals are better off that all.

    Mr Ramaphopsa. If the the biggest problem we face in this county is unemployment. Especially amongst the youth. How is it possible 90% of workers are foreigners? I work in construction and this is the case on most private projects. Why cant we employ south africans first? If the unions are the problem then deal with it like the British prime Minister did in the 80s

    this is what happens, i think. when you take a man with a yellow level over his shoulder with out papers and call them contractors, including the so called building inspectors. where are the real contractors & inspectors all fired ? Tell us the truth please. No documents May-be

      It is not hidden. There was a full professional team involved on the site. The company owner generally hire sub-contractors, and they hire workers, legal or illegal. Normal practise. He may not even be at fault for anything. Yet because he is white is chastised and the media is more interested in the Department of Home Affairs mistakes.

    One Zimbabwean gentlemen who spoke on behalf of Zimbabweans Illegally in SA, said his people use other people's documents to seek employment. My assumption was, probably 5 Zimbabweans will use "one passport and work permit". Eirther way their employers should gave atleast their pictures. In construction sites, there are pictires taken in every kick-off meeting.

      @grantmaree3537, Apparently, the main contractor (not ANC) subcontracted work to other private construction companies ( ANC).
      Its seems those sub-contractors employed illegal Immigrants.
      But I haven't heard any report about the ANC developing that building.

    Engineering errors, no....Its actually the Cutting Conners/ taking short cuts to make more profit, and it is just stupid. That's all. It's not a design fault at all.
    Designers have all the necessary softwares to calculate and balance everything. 😊. That's just me using the layman's terms.

      You are not wrong, but there is a LOT of things that could have caused this, normally more than one. Many slabs collapsed in South Africa, that is why Form Works have their own engineer to design the propping etc. Inferior material is becoming a problem. Still all those lives lost is very sad
