- This week Plant Lovers a new Miltassia came into my life - Miltassia Estrelita 'Sweet Senorita' - and I was reminded that in fact their name is officially recognized as Bratonia! A name that sounds too bratty for me! This type does really well in my climate, but as it's hard to find much variety of Miltassias in Australia I'm thrilled to finally have three with very different flower colours! And as they happen to be in very different growth stages it seemed like a great opportunity to re-visit this fabulous type! My existing and VERY established plant is Miltassia Lavender Kiss 'Lavender Taffy', the new purchase is a flowering division Miltassia Estrelita 'Sweet Senorita' and the seedling now in its second year and growing gang busters is Miltassia Royal Robe.

Thanks for finding me!
Thank you Matthew! I look forward to your entertaining and informative videos each week. I grow the similar kinds of Orchids in UK (London ) at home environment . Your videos are very useful for me, as Orchids are my long time hobby and passion.
Thank you - glad to hear they're useful!
Thank you Matthew! I look forward to your entertaining and informative videos each week. Indoor daytime-highs are starting to be above 23C/74F here (GA, USA) and new buds/growths are starting. :)
Spring has sprung! Where as here I'm nervously looking at the forecast to judge when the night time minimums outside will be too cold and I have to do the seasonal switcheroo!
Hi Mathew thank u for a other very informative video again . R yr orchids getting continuous light or do they require a period of darkness
They are outside, so whatever happens happens light wise.
I recently acquired one of these beauties. It was in spike when it arrived. Several in opened blooms about 4. I pitted it in a terracotta with basic orchid mix bark based. I check it daily to keep it evenly moist. The very top bloom was starting to open but has now turned brown and crispy and died. The remaining blooms are in opened still but healthy. Temp house hovers 76-84 humidity 30-60. I’m in Buffalo NY. Any advice. I have also an Oncidium twinkle I’ve never kept either of these and don’t want the same thing to help to my twinkle. Any advice?
Hi there, my experience has been that transportation can sometimes cause flower buds or spikes to fail - so if the other flowers are opening and OK - I wouldn't worry. The only other suggestion might also be to let it dry out a bit between waterings, especially in winter. Good luck!
@@helloplantlovers Hello 👋 Thanks for the insights. It’s in Miracle Grow orchid mix from Home Depot. Seems to dry very quickly in my house. Heat being on for winter. The other buds are present and green but unopened yet.
