When Ryan made the connection with Beyblades and Fidget Spinners I remembered in 4th grade everyone was playing with Beyblades (apparently they got popular at that specific time at my school) and I was like “What’s all the fuss about plastic spinning tops? (Apparently they were made out of metal?)”
Whenever students in my class were playing with them before recess in the classroom I was chanting “GO, PLASTIC TOYS!” (someone said they were made out of metal. Plastic toys sounded better though) Before the teacher would get mad at me for chanting too loud.
Students were even playing with them during a field trip. Then once 5th grade came it seemed like Beyblade popularity bit the dust. None of my classmates had took out a single one of them.
But then one morning I saw the next group of 4th graders playing with them. I wondered if this would be an ongoing trend, a tradition, even, that 4th graders would non stop play with Beyblades. Maybe after quarantine is over I could visit my elementary school and check on the 4th graders to see people taking out their stadiums. Maybe I would even find a clueless kid chanting “Go, plastic toys!” to mock the stupidity of Beyblades.
Wait, why did I just write a paragraph about my experience with Beyblades on an old Ryan Higa video during quarantine?
I remember as a kid shouting for joy when my parents brought me a Beyblade set on my birthday, then cried a few weeks later when a bully threw them away. :)

When I first heard about fidget spinners, I was told that they were used for people with ADHD, ADD, autism, anxiety, etc., and I was like, "okay, cool." But then, everyone started using them- just because they got popular. Then I started to get annoyed. I expressed my irritation to my best friend, and she seemed upset afterward. She asked me blankly why I hated things just because they were popular. I told her it wasn't that, it was the fact that people liked things because they were popular without having a real reason. Turns out, she had a fidget spinner to help with her anxiety and she had hidden it from me so that I wouldn't judge her for it. That really hurt- the fact that I had hurt her. So I decided to shut my fat mouth about fidget spinners.

strawberrymilk maybe it's so people who were like them, who hated popular things, might learn that they shouldn't or don't have to at all. We can learn from each others mistakes and it helps to have a story like theirs as a reason to not go about randomly hating on things.
I'm a teacher in Sweden and one of my students began using a fidget spinner because he needed it in order to focus better during class but now basically every student wants one because they too "can't focus".... 😑
