    For people who enjoy reading (books or comics) or watching DVDs/listening to CDs (I guess that shows my age): I would recommend the entire Anneseens district, which is full of amazing 2nd hand bookshops, selling also DVDs and CDs. And for people living in Ixelles/Uccle, the wonderful Pêle Mêle in the Chaussée de Waterloo '"coin" rue Washington. Although there's another one downtown, this one is much cozier and cleaner, has a little reading room where you can read the books before buying, has books in many different languages, a great children section, lots of Dvds and cds, all of them second hand and very cheap. And at the "rez de chaussée", a nice café/restaurant (Garage à manger) and two minutes from there, the lovely Parc Tenbosch. There's also a Delhaize a couple of minutes away. So a good plan for cheap book + dvd shopping, a walk in the park and grocery shopping afterwards. That particular Delhaize has an impressive selection of vegan products.

    Regarding internet access: as somebody who used to live full time in Bxl but is now only part time, so that an expensive Internet access is no longer something I need, what I did was choose a prepaid Lyca mobile card with 300 gb for 29.99€. I only charge it when I'm here. I use my phone as a router and have excellent access to things like streaming, and all the rest of functions I need. And in contrast to my neighbors who've been waiting for ages for the fiber people to come install it, I got it immediately. I bought it in a supermarket and then went to a shop in Ixelles to register it with my ID card. Otherwise, as somebody who's lived here for many years, I totally agree about the abysmal customer service. I had almost to beg them to sell them my first car. It's very difficult to understand. Very nice channel, you've got a new subscriber.

    Ikea in Germany (e.g. Cologne) can be cheaper than even the Dutch Ikea (for the reason of less VAT alone). Something to keep in mind, since the next German Ikea is ~2h away from Brussels which is just an hour more than Breda or Eindhoven.

    Strikes happen all over Belgium, not just in the francophone regions :) Officially, Brussels is bilingual French and Dutch, but it's true that French is the language you encounter 95% of the time, unless you go to some areas that are known to be more Dutch-speaking.

    Bio Planet also deserves a mention in terms of high quality, organic groceries. It's just around the corner in Nossegem.

      but it is not Brussels... that is also high likely why for example Albert Heijn (also in Wemmel and Zaventem) aren't mentionned

    Hi,
    Can you name some market or shops where we can buy second hand clothes.
    Also what is the estimated start date of clothing sales.

    • @JustBrusselsThings
      @JustBrusselsThings  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! ☀️
      Winter sales lasts from 3rd to 31st January.
      Summer sales are from 1st to 31st July.
      For 2nd hand clothes, look for stores such as Melting Pot Kilo, Fripkot, City Store Vintage - but there are so many more!
      Les Petits Rien also has 2nd hand clothing 👍

      Hi there! The costs are very unpredictable for sure! 😣 Do you have an old boiler? I think it’s always good to have a buffer, luckily I have only experienced a peak in costs during the energy crisis. Have you experienced getting a high bill all of the sudden?

      €150 might be a bit on the low side for three people these days. We pay a bit more than €100 for two people, but we live in a very well isolated house. But it really depends on your consumption. You can usually adjust the amount you pay monthly via your energy company. Rather pay a too much and get it paid back than having a nasty surprise after a year.

      If they charge too much, they give it back once they check the counters. They just gave me back a lot of money from last year's.

      @@kevinysouza76 Good luck with your interview on Monday! 🤞🤞 It seems like you are doing the right thing. The horica sector (bars and restaurants) often need people. I know Irish bars often take in non-French speakers if you don’t speak French. The Brussels job market requires you to take an active approach, so do not hesitate to ask them directly!
