    This is something I thought I'd never see someone talk about. You guys are incredible. The depth you go into on this stuff is amazing. Thank you!

    Dave Pensado... I watched the first 45 video's back in Jan and Feb. A few days ago I had a real "babysitting job" watching a mixer control two wifi lapel mics for a Ted talk type event. So I watched another 3 episodes... and today is Saturday, I'm just trying to squeeze one in. I love these video's... My mixing has improved heavily thanks to you sir.

    I've discovered that these techniques work really well with projects using sample based material and virtual instruments too. In that world I am always trying to bring more "air", space and cohesiveness to my mixes. I have used parallel compression and the isolating of EQ spaces and verb to my mixes that are all "in the box" pieces. Many of these sounds are already really good so that I'm truly just trying to enhance and bring forward these sounds. Thanks for the tips.

    Man I love these genius yet simple concepts... You are one of the very few on youtube who offer's FUNDAMENTAL creative ideas that are not a gimmick... but VERY effective. This is the type of stuff I love most! Thanks for sharing.

    I've been applying a lot of these ideas to audio post work (TV commercials and corporate videos).
    Mixing a cliche car commercial with explosions, screaming announcers, and over-the top production music can be a challenging mix.

    since you high pass the parallel vocals, did you high cut the original vocals to compensate for the parallel?

    • @AceDeclan
      @AceDeclan 7 лет назад +1

      No because the high passed parallel is getting ducked by the shakers already.

    umh.. multi band compressor con compressione solo sulle alte non da lo stesso risultato ?
    perche fare un buss con 2 plughin in piu..

  • @klick2destruct

    great idead! i feel like when the compressor kicks in, the volume of the shaker is also feels better as when it is loud...

  • @MarsoOO
    @MarsoOO 11 лет назад

    I guess not, because you didn't put delay on the high-end track. So the phase are still in sync.
    (my opinion)

    Great stuff...the way you explain things is top of top...I wonder why it took me so long to find you on youtube...maybe because I live in Poland not in States...🙂 I have one question about top end on vocals...Do they use such presets with bands like AC/DC and Saxon ? I've tried exciters and high eq but never had a chance to recive such effect...I call this very high end...

  • @mjollner23

    The shaker ducks whenever the vocals come in. =)

    Whats speakers are those on top of the NS10s?

  • @franziskaevangelista
    @franziskaevangelista 11 лет назад

    No... non sta mettendo compressione solo sulle frequenze alte del shaker, lo fa su tutto il shaker, usando solo le frequenze alte della voce come trigger (side-chain) del compressore. Il risultato e' ben diverso.

  • @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP
    @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP 11 лет назад

    everyone is so thankful that it appears they forget to really try to understand this technique, or is everybody else sure they get it?
    i second TheDeadlyVIPViper's question from earlier regarding the frequencies of the main vocal track, and it's also not absolutely clear what part the compressor with side-chain is controlling, vocals itself or the shaker

    just trow up a trimer and lower the gain of each tracks,, or group your tracks and lower the volume
