Yep, I was impressed too... lol Having the stable image with the gimbal lets the video quality really show through. It makes a nice setup pairing the Moonlight with the Gimbal.
What FC are you using here? I have the same issue with jitter and was looking into ardupilot lua scripting to fix it the way you did, but documentation says scripting isn't available on F4 based autopilots unfortunately. Very frustrating but hopefully this gets fixed in a firmware update. Thanks for the videos, I find them very informative and helpful!
Hey Keith, remember the Haohan firefly? In the models that came with a gimbal, they came with a gimbal called the “c-20t”, which looked exactly like the gm3. Kinda fishy if you ask me, also considering that you can buy that gimbal individually and it came for sale at about the same time as the gm series.
Yeah we noticed that too. I'm not sure what the relationship is between Caddx and Haohan, if any. Neither one ever made any comments about it that I've seen. I'd say there's a good chance the gimbal is an OEM product from some other factory, but that's just speculation on my part.
It will fit, a couple of spacers between the tray and the hatch will let airflow into the intake in the hatch. Potential problems I see are putting the VTX antennas right on top of the GPS (assuming the GPS is in the intended mounting spot) and maybe CG. I'm not sure how it would work out for balance and if there's room to slide the battery around enough without trying it. imgur.com/K59O4bS
@@bonafidepirate Thanks Keith, yes good point regarding the CG. Might not be forward enough to allow it to balance. Might just steal your pan servo idea instead and keep it simple!
There was a guy in the Ardupilot group on Facebook making them, he sold them on Etsy but they are unavailable right now, maybe ask and he could make some more? www.etsy.com/listing/1672927182/ardupilot-sticker-decal-pack-of-51020
Hi there Bonafide. It's been quite a bit since I've messed around with R/C flying, and FPV. I still have all my aircraft, but very dated electronics. I have the Eagletree Vector FC, which in my research, isn't supported anymore. I would like to re set up at least 2 of my aircraft to fly again. One is an EyeFly Black Manta Quad, and the other is a Skyhunter. I would appreciate any advice... starting from scratch. Thank you.
Nice device, but where is the manual? How do you handle the wiring? Does the head tracking work directly through the Avatar/Walksnail telemetry, or do you have to inconveniently send it through the transmitter yourself?
Can you describe you paired (the wiring) BOTH a 4k Moonlight VTX/DVR board with the standard V1 VTX at 1:46? Edit - found it - wasn't aware there was a separate video board.
It's the "stand alone" Moonlight DVR that doesn't come with a VTX, and is meant to be used with a VTX you already have. Check this, the "Moonlight Camera" option. caddxfpv.com/products/walksnail-moonlight-kit?variant=48665283166510&aff=59
Do you find you can adapt quickly to the stabilisation for landing etc or does it take a while to get rhe hang of it, i know you can see the nose of the aircraft which must help alot.
It was a little disorienting flying with the gimbal in stabilized modes at first, but I got used to it after a few flights. It's easy flying in cruise or something like that where the FC does all the hard work... lol
Thanks for the video. How do you overlay your OSD on the video in this digital system? I have dji airunit and the same process might work for me . Cheers
@@qwertz2761 Nope, just the stock font from his site. He did change up some of them to share elements between them though at some point, I think those are the "unify" fonts. It's also Ardupilot so might have some different elements if you're used to flying something else.
In my copter FC (Speedybee F7 V3) I got 2 free UART left, can I connect the gimbal to one of the free UART to controll it ? (Did not find anything on the Caddx page at this date so far)
I just ordered one through your link - it made the price about 15 cheaper, I hope you get a lil bit from them too, cheers again. oh and also keen on stl file please.
Interesting regarding the jitter you are getting. It sounds exactly the same as Im getting on the HEQ gport gimbal. As you say, without input it dosent happen. I thought it may be something in PWM signal so I connected a servo on the same output and it was rock solid. Makes we wonder if there are common components/firmware in this and the gport. Look carefully and you can see the jitter. Im also getting terrible level horizon drift on the gport. ruclips.net/user/shortsNgLc_4MHgZo?si=Lfcn_hI8_7gmd8iT
All this tech coming out, Fun stuff!!!! What a time to be alive!!!!!
Definitely! I've always liked learning new things and digging into new tech, and there seems to be no shortage of that lately... lol
thats insane, it solve the jittering problem completely
nice, only vid on youtube, saw it here first!! thanks
I love new tech from caddx! Amazing quality and view, great explanation ❤❤
this 4k recording is amazing .. gimbal too but damn with this lighting it is cinematic!
Yep, I was impressed too... lol Having the stable image with the gimbal lets the video quality really show through. It makes a nice setup pairing the Moonlight with the Gimbal.
@@bonafidepirateplus you get the full resolution as there's no need for GF zooming
Is it possible to fine tuning the gimbal's movement? Watching the on-board video, the camera moves too suddenly, disturbingly...
How does the camera mount? Will it take a DJI V1 camera and will the cable work?
It's probably incompatible, Andy. But I believe Lee showed a gimbal that is!
Amazing flying and footage, Keith!!! 😃
It looks amazing! Thanks for the review!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
This is amazing! I’d love to attach an analog cam for FPV and then a Runcam thumb pro for the 4k

Great video. I wonder if head tracking through the uart will resolve the jitter once they get that released
Thanks for the nice video! Did you try to have the autopilot lock on a region of interest? Would be interesting to see how that would work out!
Awesome gimbal! Top notch video and setup too!
Looks like a great product, but I saw in the specs, that the DJI O3 cam does not fit on this gimbal (20mm width vs. 19mm)
I hope this will be compatible with the Avatar HD Goggles X's head tracking? That would be a great combo if they implement it smoothly.
Stunning! What camera?
Wow looks amazing. Can I use the Headtracking Feature with my Fatshark Dominator hdo3 ?
How do you control the gimbal?
nice. but I only want a very solid 360 pan control. Can the 1 axis be used as pan only?
Love to have the .stl for the gimbal tray. :)
Sure thing! I'll upload it in a bit, remind me of I forget! lol
Uploaded here - www.thingiverse.com/thing:6678725 I included two, one with 20x20mm mounting for the VTX, the other with 25x25mm

Yeah. He mentioned that somewhere in the middle :)

Does it work with the analog 19mm cameras?

I'll jump in and recommend for fixed wing a Matek flight controller like F405-Wing V2 and Inav 7.
Even better deal are the speedy bee f405, all the functionality plus wireless configuration
