Another fantastically entertaining video, Dave. I to love the work that Network used to do. If it wasn't for them I'd never own some of the 70s and 80s tv shows that I love.
What sicko rented out Bad Biology? Oh wait, that was me wasn't it - really enjoyed that movie. Another great episode Dave, so many more movies I need to see now !!
Fantastic first episode. I saw Anatomy of a fall in the cinema and loved it. Glad to see Severin releasing new 4k here (was a fast pickup with bad biology for me). The blob remake was great for it's effects but i prefer the OG. RIP Network, i interacted with their last social media post then the next day i heard the rumours start, after a few days of silence the website went down and it legitimately hurt. I have had my share of actual threats for openly saying A Serbian Film is a good movie that does exactly what it intends to. See you next time 😉
Love the insight Dave. Keep up the good work. Like previous comments, I thought it was ‘That Thing You Do’. But as it has already been mentioned and seems to obvious. I’m starting to think that you might of gone for a more obscure title. So my choice is ‘That Championship Season’ (1982). Directed by Jason ‘Father Karras’ Miller, based on a play he created. I’m probably wrong, but what have I got to lose.
Another great episode. Regarding your comment about the fear of discs getting damaged, curious what techniques/tools you use to try and save discs that get dirty or scuffed
I turned down writing Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey and in doing so sidestepped becoming a Razzie award winner. I chose to do a film with Mark L. Lester instead, think I made the right choice. 🤣
Network was the last outpost for obscure television archive material. Simply Media wasn't far behind with a solid licensing agreement from the BBC and Channel 4. Now, both have gone. There really isn't any place for television material that mattered. The stuff from the bowels of TV past that will never be seen again. Crazy to think that the BFI last year put pay to The Play for Today box sets after poor sales. This certainly indicates a lack of interest with TV obscurites and a malaze with television that may not be as popular as The Saint, The Prisoner, Man in a Suitcase, The Sweeney, The Professionals etc.... There's really no one that will ever fill the Network or Simply Media slot ever again...
@snipsmovies Network even celebrated 25yrs before they went tits up! I've heard a few things about Network, but most have remained tight-lipped about its demise. Network going was a hard pill to swallow. Cheers.
But Marvel films aren’t just shit. They remind me of Subway Sandwiches or Dominos Pizza. It’s like a disease that spreads at a rapid pace and it just lowers the bar all around. I respect Scorsese’s courage for calling them out, although it’s not really that courageous as he’s old now so not much to lose and him being old sadly undermines his opinion as ageism is a very real thing. All these labels that have cropped up in the social media age like boomer or zoomer etc. It’s just demeaning nonsense and it all sounds very corporate and childlike, which is exactly what the Marvel films feel like. They look visually like the inside of chain restaurants, like sitting inside a refurbished McDonald’s. But anyway, someone needed to say it, even if it was the ‘old white man’. If the people who watch the Marvel things can’t understand that they are the equivalent of a Greggs sausage role then that’s their problem. There needs to be some balance. I think the difference is they can eat at Greggs all the time no problem and then go to a nice restaurant and like both, whereas Greggs food makes me feel sick and I can’t help that and if I’m forced to eat Greggs all the time then I might possibly die haha. I doubt they have anything good to say when they label a film they see as different as too ‘arty’ or whatever. It goes both ways with it being films labelled ‘art’ films that get the most abuse so what I’m saying is Marvel films are shite, even the ok ones and it should be ok to say they are shit without getting called boring or old. I’m not old. And Marvel films are the epitome of boring. It’s a wet pizza box.
Salesman is my favourite documentatry of all time. The way the focus shifts from men to man is so delicately handed.
It's phenomenal isn't it!
@@snipsmovies Yeah, I've never understood why they study Grey Gardens on every film course in the country, when Salesman is far more interesting.
I could watch this all day
Since others said my first guess, "That Was Then, This Is Now" - I'll watch the next video to find out. Love the channel. Currently binging.
Loving the first two editions. I will take a guess at That's Entertainment.
I’m listening to Gaz’s album right now and it’s AMAZING!!!
Isn't it just! I'll pass on your thoughts
Awesome video especially the Gaz quiz segment 🔥👍💿
Thanks so much!

Quiz answer attempt.... That Thing You Do
Great series!

At 7:58 put video on pause then while still on pause skip to 15:08 Chucky's hat has fallen within that timeframe
My guess is 'That Sinking Feeling"
Loving this content! Keep it up.
Thanks!
Came here to guess That Thing You Do but saw other people already guessed it, so not sure if it still counts. Anyway: Keep up the show! 👌

Thanks! Erm... Usually a quick buff with the sleeve of my hoodie does the trick. Very lucky in all honesty. I have very respectful customers.
a bit odd you can't get a uk disc of foul play, i know nothing about discs btw

You're wrong it's VHS that is number one hahahahahahaha

Nope. A depressing state of affairs.

That thing you do
