    I have a homebrew rule; The lower the generation the more hideous the Nosferatu. The ones closer to Absimilliard (4th to 6th) are basically eldritch horrors in appearance, so vile and utterly inhuman they cause an effect similar to a Werewolve's Delirium when seen by mortals. The higher the generation the less and less they change, with those of 7th-9th looking almost human just hideous and malformed, with unique and grotesque appearances like covered completely in teeth, or looking like a melting victim from an 80's horror movie, their bodies constantly dripping liquified skin and flesh, regenerating every day only to begin anew again. 10th-12th can pass as human, albiet one who suffers from an extreme disease such as leprousy or spinal meningitis, 13th generation Nosferatu are basically normal in appearance with slight quirks such as Max Schreck style bat ears and fang like central insisor teeth.
    So if I ever run an Elders game and one of my players decides to play a Nosferatu... Whoo boy are they are in for a wild ride!

      I like this idea a lot! I personally found the design choice to have the Nosferatu look less monstrous in V5 a little strange, but then there are also photos in the books that show off an obviously twisted Sewer Rat. Would be kind of fun if things were like your homebrew, which makes sense then because you're mostly playing younger Vampires in that setting!

      I mean the lower the generation, the closer you are to Caine, and the stronger the tie to the curse...I do like this idea. If I ever get a chance to play VTM, I'll pitch this rule out.

      I dont even think thats a "homebrew" rule - pretty sure I saw something like that in one of the official books. Great stuff, anyway.

    Love the lore video! It helped with creating the Nosferatu I’m roleplaying. To summarize, he’s a college dropout from the 90’s and the embrace was a “step up”. He doesn’t mind resembling something that crawled out of a morgue. Though my coterie’s Malk is quick to point out his lack of eyebrows...

    Nos are one of the most tightly bound clans out there.
    I would like to see a video giving an overview over the differnt clan cohesions.
    Gangrel are loners, but still act as a clan when provoked. Malkavians are strange loners as well, but seem to work together as if directed by a higher power.
    Tremere have a hierarchy, but backstab each other every chance they get, unlike Ventrue (if you can believe it).
    Tzimisce and Lasombra, in Dark Ages and Modern, are more complex.
    Setites, Giovanni and Assamites are their own sects basically.
    Ravnos and Nosferatu stick the fuck together.

    • @shezyam460
      @shezyam460 4 года назад +2

      Yes please. Imo other Nosferatu and gangrel are the most unified in different ways. Gangrel don't backstab each other and actually fight/hunt together and Nosferatu try to provide for each other in their own broods, if not, who else will?

    I remember a website in the 1990s that was written to portray a Ventrue giving advise to his Childe. His advise about the Nosferatu was “Never badmouth the Nosferatu, and never plot against the Nosferatu. Ever. There are no exceptions to this rule. If you badmouth a Nosferatu or plot against them, they WILL find out. Again, there are no exceptions to this rule. When it comes to the Nosferatu, there are two types of paranoia: ‘absolute’ and ‘insufficient’.”

    I have a Nosferatu- Anthony 'Tall Tony' Butler, a 13th Generation Nosferatu. His curse isn't too severe, he can actually pretty much pass off as a gang bouncer with a bandana and skull tattoos, and while he can't be seen in high society, he can navigate the slums and seedier areas of a city. While his embrace was rather typical (He was meant to be Embraced by a Toreador, but the Nosferatu Primogen convinced the Prince to allow it using blackmail), its the situation he's found himself in that is unique, as he has found more Humanity in the Kindred than among Humans.
    He was an outcast very young- during the chaos of the 90's gang wars, his parents and family were unfortunate causalities. He took to any odd job or retail work he could just to make ends meet and try to make a better life for himself, yet despite his situation, no-one bothered to help him. It was either join a gang or suffer, and given his upbringing, he chose to suffer instead. He took to spray-painting as a way to expression and this caught the attention of the Toreador, who wanted to embrace him, but the Nosferatu had beef with his sire and thus beat him too it. Instead of finding his transformation horrific, the sense of clan and unity he found among the Nosferatu made him feel more human and alive than he ever had. He had friends, kindred, and family he could rely on, and a group of people (that Camarilla) that'd watch out for him. For someone who had nothing, the Camarilla offered him everything. He has a good haven too, which he pays for by hunting gangs and stealing their ill-gotten gangs, pawning them off to his criminal contacts.
    He's a young neonate and a BIG camarilla loyalist, his goal actually is to re-establish contact with the other cities still held by the Camarilla after the fall of Shrek-Net, though this is to serve his longterm goal of seeing Chicago, his home city, restored. There is more too his story, but that is the basics of it.

    I have played some truly amusing and disturbing Nosferatu over the years, my favorite of which by far was called Roy. Roy was a Cleopatra who during his mortal days was renowned for his great talent as an Entertainer. He could sing, dance, tell jokes, and act... Picture Sammy Davis Jr if he looked like Buddy Holly, except unlike those two legendary gentleman Roy was a complete pompous ass. The perfect target for the Nosferatu Clan, and eventually it happened. Even after his embrace into a twisted rotten sewer rat, he still fancied himself an Entertainer albeit a jaded one. His past charm had tarnished to a jaded reflection, and the darkness he once had kept hidden within was drawn outward for all to see. Still it was fun to sing song lyrics with creepy stocker vibes with a raspy voice, unseen from the shadows. " I think were alone now, there doesn't seem to be anyone around." or... " Anywhere you go, anything you do... I'll be watching you." or... " Mister Cellophane, I'm Mister cellophane... Can you speak my name... I'm Mister cellophane... You can look right through me, walk right by me and never know I'm there."

      Those lyric choices are haunting!

    • @frankparker1191
      @frankparker1191 5 лет назад +6

      Or something else Roy liked to do, was tap dance a floor above you. By the time they would get to where Roy was he would be either above them again or bellow them where they just were tap dancing. If this routine would persist Roy would laugh wickedly and sing... "I could have danced all night... I could have danced all night... And still have bagged for more... I could have spread my wings... And done a thousand things... I've never done before"

      The Primogen: That statement could have been used to describe so many of my characters lol. Later on Roy started going by Mr. Cell. He would slip a burner phone into your pocket or stash one at your haven and then call you when he wanted to speak with you. Everyone assumed Mr. Cell stood for Mr. Cellphone, but in truth it stood for Mr. Cellophane.

    Thank you for the video. I am scheduled to play my first game later this month. I'll be playing a nosferatu that is, as I like to say, ugly on the outside and inside. In life, a ex-marine (he was kicked out) with an MO of sniping those who violate the masquerade. Since he used to be pretty, he uses his gifts like a hammer on his enemies. Treading the line of being a leatherface, he prefers the term 'maintenance man'.

      while there might have been hubris regarding security to some if not most users of shreknet i imagine truly embraced hackers employ darkweb failsafes and had backups so what was eventually discovered was only what the nosferatu wanted found. i find a certain utility and joy in this belief.
      nos: 'you what!? [to ventrue] you had the nsa/cia hunt for sabbat links to 9/11?'
      to other nos: 'quick hide what we want and let the nsa hackers find information on those camerilla tools'
