Thanks to Bogren Digital for asking me to review this cool plugin! What do you think?
I like it. Sounds really good
I think that's the clearest i've ever heard your 8 string sound. Every note from low to high was right there.
now that's infinitely more interesting than a oneknob plug-in
I love those one knobs but that was super cool. It’s Jon though so you know it’s going to be good.
I own the real deal subzero 60 EL34 and it's a beast, hand made of high quality components, run it through 4x12 v30 along with km7 and it roars, absolutely gorgeous clean channel, Thank's for another great input Bruh 👍💪
Ridiculously articulate gain texture while still having enough girthy grunt. Very interesting indeed. Dope demo and walk through Jon 💯
Hey look! Something that's not been modeled a billion times! Awesome tones.
Lol I am flooded with sims. Between AA AmpLocker and the MudKiller plugin I'm gonna have to decide between paying the phone bill or springing for another plugin. Crazy times.
Great vid as always Jon!
Yeah it's refreshing!
🤣🤣😂😂👏👏👏👏
Dope extended guitar sounds Jon. Well done as usual.
Very refreshing on that intro riff. Well done!
Cool man! Can wait to try this! Seems a very cool amp!
Very clean gain on this sim..I jammed on it for a few..I dig it..beautiful mids also
This amp sim does low tunings really well honestly, might be one of the best out there for downtuned/extended range guitars besides the Nameless. Thanks for the review!
Cool! One thing that I noticed is that the sound never really got "bad" when tweaking the knobs or changing mics, cabs etc. Also, possibly the nicest user interface I've seen in an amp sim as well if that also counts. For me it looks and sounds like a solid choice for those who need more options compared to the Amp Knobs-line. Good review as always!
Jens bogren is sooooo fucking insanely good at making IR's. They just sound amazing. If he had the cab section as a plugin and had some more cabs and mics I would buy it in a heartbeat
Just bought it 2 days ago... oh my god!!! I'm digging this amp sim very much. Thinking of swapping out my AURORA DSP rhino and JST jeff loomis amp sims on my tracks
sounds and looks great
Daaang, that chug character at 2:15 is really nice
Beautiful, we need more modern amps!!!!
Immediate like !
Awesome sound!!!
I just bought this amp sim today after trialing it. I'm going to use this video as a guide on setting my tone. Even tho i don't use anything beyond a 6 string, it should be helpful.
This ampsim handles downtuned/extended range guitars very well, everything sounds crystal clear.
Sounded really engl fireball like to me. I love it!
Ooohyeahh. Riffcity🤘🏼
Dad, that sounds YUUUUUUGE! 🍻
cool amp, cool sim
sounds great but it seems like maybe the input level is too low? Examples of the real amp seem a lot gainier to me, on here it seems like you’re having to turn the gain higher to compensate for a lower input. Makes a big difference for the bright caps and other modes to have the right response.
I wish companies would give more specific information about this, it’s no wonder people have such mixed experiences with plugins.
I don't think the isolated guitars were double-tracked, how did you get the wide sound there? If I play back with a center-channel extractor, it's clearly too tight to have been two different takes.
Mesa Badlander 50 in the future perhaps?
Hey can you say wich strings on guitar?
It's interesting sounding, but a little too dry for my tastes. That dryness works well with the low tuned 8 string stuff, but sounds/feels a bit odd on higher strings/higher tunings. It doesn't have that saturated sound/feel you get with a 5150, Soldano SLO, the new Bad Cat Lynx, etc.... much more of a dry Engl-like tone.
I am a big fan of your channel, John. I hope you can answer this for me. I have a Vox AC30 for my clean tones and a Marshall DSL20HR for my crunch tones. I want to buy a high gain amp now. Which one would you strongly recommend? Your opinion would be really valuable to me, considering your experience with so many amps. Cheers!
Can't go wrong with an ENGL
@@SonicDriveStudio thanks man!
MT15, 5150 Iconic, if you're on a budget. Although, another option, and one I am highly considering myself, Synergy preamps. 4 cable method can make up to 6 channels possible, more if your amp has more than 2 channels. If even more pushed into budget territory, a boost pedal can get you into modern gain on your Marshall.
I like the clean tones a lot but the rhythm ones are a little bit too "neutral" for my taste if that makes sense. I whish the tone had more character and was more aggressive.
What drums use for your demos?
Usually Steven Slate Drums
Was going to grab it since it's on Black Friday sale, but luckily I tried the trial first. Super annoying noise gate buzzing and crackling in this amp sim, didn't find any way to get rid of it except turning the noise gate off. You can even hear some of it in this video in the isolated guitar track around the 16 minute mark, some super annoying snapping and popping. Saved my money.
ive tried all amp sims and i still feel that neural dsp has the best tones
Way too expensive considering what you get in return vs this bogren offering
@@Iesous27 yes, Neural is expensive as shit an and an absolute CPU-sucker! It sounds good but I don't recommend it's price and and extensive cpu-abussage
Chunky chugalicious
Playing powerchords on a normal guitar and not single notes on a 150 strings guitar would have been a better demonstration. I only can guess what sound it would make, and my guess is that it has absolutely no gain and no sustain.
Sure 😂😂😂
Wooo, thicker than cold honey that you try to get out the tub for your morning tea
It's definately okay! Just demoed it but way more amp sims are ahead of it.
I’ve been messing around with it…so far I really dislike it. I think it’s a bit soft and lower gain and wimpy sounding with our really pushing it hard. And then it’s a little muddy imo
Nothing on any video I've seen demoing this has sounded "muddy" in the slightest. Are you trying to use your own IRs?
@@Jazzguitar00 I’m using Bogren and York IRs. I have a lot of IRs. They sound incredible on the neural, STL, and other Bogren plugins I have…but this plug-in just sounds bad IMO. Unless there is something special I need to know about dialing this one, but I’ve never had to work hard to make all my other plugins sound great.
A bit fizzy and mushy sounding. Not their best effort in my opinion.
oof criticism… how dare you 😂
@@7riXter haha yeah I know. John gets the best sounds from everything. So if it doesn't sound great here, I know there is no hope.
It's a double-edged sword for sponsored reviews haha.
@@misterringer 😅 yeah you right… and as well as follower when you sound like ass and see him do better.
Like every plugin ever
@@colelewis9940 I have heard plenty of plugins and modelers that sounded better. This one just didn't do it for me.
I got it but I am trying to get a refund because this amp sim doesn’t sustain even with the gain maxed out. Frankly, it sucks. I don’t know if the Polish company designed the head to be used with 2 overdrives stacked for a lead sound but it’s the most disappointing amp sim release for me in a very long time. Up until this point; all of Bogren Digital releases were astonishing. This isn’t.
Have you tried turning up the input gain? I think it has more than enough gain tbh
Edit. I couldn’t get my hard earned money back from this piece of crap. For rhythm tones this is useful but I doubt that it will stack up against STL Lasse Lambert Marshall JCM800 amp sim with Petrucci ToneMission IR pack.
@@SonicDriveStudio tried but no difference.
Make sure a noise gate isn’t on at the beginning of the signal that is clamping down on your sustain. Haven’t had a chance to check out this plugin yet but I’ve seen that as the culprit in the past
@@scottwhitlow8468 gate was on zero.
placebo?
