I was in high-school back in the mid 1970's Neil was crushing it musically. He played at every outside, inside you name it keg party we had. Just imagine; one minute you had Led Zepplin the next Van Halen The Car's Bob Segar but eventually on came some Neil Young as a musical chaser. We had great music play by self taught musicians! Young people today really missed out my friend
@RavenFire4 I agree, most musicians truly got involved with music for the love of music, by the mid to late 80's music was about the money. While musicians we listened to in the seventies made money, it wasn't the main focus, those Seventies rockers, for the most part rockers taught themselves how to write songs and play instruments...the music conveys their passion
I cant say how much I appreciate an artist who does all his own music singing and composing . He is a Canadian treasure and he is part of my life. Great reaction.
The needle and the damage done is a song that really hits home because almost everyone knows someone that this is about sad to say but a great song just the same
I think the best way to describe Neil Young is sincere. You believe everything he says because (and you can read all about it) he has never been an artist that cares about fame, money, or being politically correct. He honestly doesn't care about the music industry and has been successful for decades despite that. One may agree or disagree with his politics, but you have to respect his conviction - he hasn't changed at all in the journey from obscure artist to icon. He probably still has the corduroy jacket and boots he wore in this performance lol.
The man is 78 & still touring. I grew up listening to him, since I am 70. He was loved by my generation. This on is my fav, although Needle & the damage done, Old Man & Harvest moon are also great, to name a few.
He's so cute Just sitting there singing his song to a quiet audience who just came to hear him sing. He looks & reminds me of my older brother they have the same mannerisms, My brother is that kind of Guy. Long hair and always had a that Hippi energy He never got angry, Never hurt anyone and was so quiet. I miss him Dearly
This is from the same concert that you watched recently for "Old Man". I love this intimate performance with just Neil, his guitar & harmonica. Neil is a very talented musician, singer & songwriter. He was with the groups Buffalo Springfield & Crosby, Stills & Nash in the later 60's. Also had his own group with Crazy Horse for a few years. Neil went solo & has had so many great songs over the years.
Don McLean is worth knowing about from the 70's. Vincent was a really beautiful song, and American Pie is legendary. That whole album, with both of those songs included, was really good!
Neil's lyrics along with many other bands from this era, many Canadian, basically taught me about the world and made me who I am today. So grateful I wasn't raised in a digital world.
I’m a lifelong Neil Young fan of many decades, and I’m the first to admit: Neil’s voice isn’t for everyone. I hope you enjoyed this song and check out more of his work. You really would be hard pressed to find *any* bad songs on the following albums: Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest, After The Gold Rush, Tonight’s The Night, Rust Never Sleeps, and Freedom. You’ll notice I listed albums not individual songs. I’m for real here: wire to wire, track by track - every album listed above has genius waiting for you to enjoy it. I hope you do. And thanks again for another fun video! I have enjoyed discovering your channel recently.
It may be true that his voice isn't for everyone, but nobody can deny how genuine he is. That's his greatest quality as a songwriter. Absolutely brilliant.
Much like the music of the era and prior.. It was you at the microphone love Neil's voice hate Neil's voice he didn;t have autotune to hide behind he was himself. I love his voice and the emotion he emotes. I do love you take on the harmonica being the country guys sax....He did play with a group that had a sax... If you want an upbeat tune try On My Way Homr Neil Young and the Bluenotes from Blues Cafe
My young parents had Neil Young albums so I grew up a fan. Literally on the way home from work today I played his song “Harvest Moon” from the 90’s; I think it is perhaps his most beautiful song. If you want to hear Neil rock hard and grungy, then you must hear his songs “Cinnamon Girl” and “Down By The River” 🔥. You are so right; timeless and I love your analysis that the harmonica is the country man’s sax!
great reaction to a great musician. elected TWICE to the rock and roll hall of fame. once as a solo musician and as a member of buffalo springfield. he was also part of crosby, stills, nash and young another hall of fame group.you can see why he was elected. a lot of people thought that csny had as much talent as the fab four if they would have stayed together! great reaction thanks try Old Man from the Harvest album which many rockers consider to be top 25 albums of all time
A youthful Neil Young ..... his vocal never better singing a song that always sends me to la-la land. Can't ask any more than that from a song. My favorite record by him is There Comes A Time, the honorable mention would be Peace Of Mind from that record. Always enjoy your reaction, TY.
Your reactions are so deep. I appreciate the way you pick apart the lyrics and different musical elements and allow your spirit to go on that journey with the Creator of the piece of art. You put your energy in those shoes and feel what it was like for the Creator who crafted their art into fruition. It's a beautiful way not just hear, but experience music as a whole entity. Thank you.
When you were talking about the harmomika it reminds me of my father. He was in the Marines in the South Pacific during world bark too and he always had a harmonica with him. That was one instrument the soldiers could carry with them anywhere they went.
There are many great songs listed in the comments. Young produced serious historical "Ohio". "Ohio" is a protest song and counterculture anthem written and composed by Neil Young in reaction to the Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970. It is said that after seeing events on TV, he wrote 'Ohio" then and there. Of course his "Southern Man" is about the strife. Even though Young was Canadian with a journalist father, he lived between U.S. and home but saw the world bigger than both.
What's really interesting is he singing this song when he was like 24 😮 so he wasn't getting old. But now he's old and this song has lasted as long as he has, and it will last long after he's gone.😢
You must also listen to Harvest moon 🌚 it’s a great tone as well.. Neil young is a Canadian legend!! He’s written over a thousand songs!! Love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸❤️🇨🇦❤️
Here are some Neil Young suggestions: "Harvest," "Cowgirl in the Sand," "After the Gold Rush," "Southern Man," The Needle and the Damage Done," "Hey, Hey, My, My (Into the Black)," "Tell Me Why," and "Don't Let It Bring You Down." You might also want to check out Crosby, Still Nash & Young's song "Helpless," which he wrote.
Your country man saxophone comparison talking about harmonica is enough for me to subscribe to your channel . For the love of music and with and open mind
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (2005), give this album a try. One of the cleanest progressive rock albums ever produced. 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here' is the most essential song of this album.
If you like Harmonica’s check out “ on the road again “ by Canned Heat “ BTW , The difference between a Sax and a Blues Harp ( harmonica) ? You can spill beer on a Blues Harp !
Niel young is a legend. If you wanna see an interesting/good movie check out dead man with johnny depp. The entire movie has Niel Young guitar licks in it.
You are one of the best reactors going and I think I've heard most of them. Mr. Lloyd was great as well but he was demonitized and youtube took 5000 of his reaction videos. My advice would be back up your content, and keep doing what you're doing. I'll keep watching. .
One of my first albums I bought for sure. Could you react to MC Abdul - The Pen & The Sword? He is a Palestinian rapper, just a boy, but such a voice! A very outspoken, brave voice.
Man, that's music art! Notice how one can hear EVERY SINGLE word! Unlike most of the screech & yowl of modern mu .... No, I just cannot call it music. Noise! Here's a suggestion that I know will knock your socks off! "Ashes are burning" by Magna Carts! Enjoy, and give us feedback. I'm keen to hear your take! Cheers mate!
New subscriber I like what I see, one group that often gets over looked for it's contributions to the 70's is a German group called Kraftwerk this was one of my go to's when I was chillin out with a doobie of panama red or some good ole fashioned homegrown, I'll leave a link below for the short version of one of their pieces, the full version is 22 minutes long... Short version: ruclips.net/video/iukUMRlaBBE/видео.html If you're ready fire one up and enjoy the Long Version: ruclips.net/video/x-G28iyPtz0/видео.html
I prefer his collaboration with Crosby, Sills, & Nash. His voice is too thin & nasal for my taste. His lyrics are deep but his vocals don't back them up, IMHO.
Anybody that grew up during the folk era experienced the real story tellers of our time check out buffalo spingfield or his material with crazy horse his back up band a lot of great stuff make you think twice about life and what's really important..
Country man's saxophone! So true.
I was in high-school back in the mid 1970's Neil was crushing it musically. He played at every outside, inside you name it keg party we had. I graduated in 75. The 70s were the best..

While musicians we listened to in the seventies made money, it wasn't the main focus, those Seventies rockers, for the most part rockers taught themselves how to write songs and play instruments...the music conveys their passion
OMG that was me.
@TrianglesAndCircles 😆 right! The good times rolled back in the 70's...these young people are not enjoying their youth, to much ridiculous drama!
@@josephclarke4244 Lost my mind entertaining myself. We have things like this now.
A world class musician not afraid to look like a street corner busker, playing his own harmonica & guitar. 😊
He is a really cool person. In the 80’s I got to spend a whole night(totally innocent)one on one with him just talking and drinking sherry.
I cant say how much I appreciate an artist who does all his own music singing and composing . He is a Canadian treasure and he is part of my life. Great reaction.
The needle and the damage done is a song that really hits home because almost everyone knows someone that this is about sad to say but a great song just the same
YES! I also suggested "old man"
edit: he already did it
4 and 20?
Is it about Covid 19?😂😂
Neil Young is pure, and his music always takes you to a place you've never been...🎙🎶😏

Neil Young is a lyrical genius. Not to mention his superb guitar work. He’s pretty good on the harmonica too!
The man is 78 & still touring. I grew up listening to him, since I am 70. He was loved by my generation. This on is my fav, although Needle & the damage done, Old Man & Harvest moon are also great, to name a few.
I love Neal.He reaches the heart with his music.
Such a talented to play the harmonica and guitar at the same time.
The whole of the album is just great song after great song.
"I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line".....truly gets to the heart of the matter
"The country man's saxophone" I love it!
Love his whole carrier. Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y. Happy birthday, Neil-Nov 12th.
Great reaction. Loved the comparison of the harmonica and the sax. Neil has dozens of songs that are reaction-worthy.

The song by Mungo Jerry called In The Summertime is interesting to watch on video. The video's from 1970.
Neil is one of a kind…
Love his voice
He is just so great
He's looking for REAL/ HONEST PURE LOVE! Isn't everyone????The harmonica is one of my favorite instruments! Neil is cool.
Neil's lyrics along with many other bands from this era, many Canadian, basically taught me about the world and made me who I am today. So grateful I wasn't raised in a digital world.
One of my favorites of his
❤❤❤❤💛 I Feel Like I have Only met about 5 people in my life with A Whole Heart of Gold ( Love ) ! : ..(

I love how you can find the perfect words to describe lyrics.
Love it man! Nothing better than a talented one man show to touch your soul!! I grew up listening to Neil. He dominated!
"Countryman's saxophone". Absolutely.
Bro, this hit me like it it you! Just 1/2 a century apart!
Peace (from an old Canadian guy)

You need to do Neil Young - Cortez the Killer so many great songs but this one is a masterpiece.
A song of reflection from a 20 year old Neil Young... bound to be ageless.😊❤

The talent in this man.....unreal.
For a lot of people my age this was the first song we slow danced to at the school dances. Good times good memories.

Absolutely 70s music is the best!
You definitely bare your soul while playing the harmonica.
Your reactions are so deep. I appreciate the way you pick apart the lyrics and different musical elements and allow your spirit to go on that journey with the Creator of the piece of art. Masterpiece ❤
Really like the idea about how his music puts you in a sort of reflective mood...Enjoyed the reaction...

What I like about this particular session that he's playing in, he plays the harmonica and the guitar at the same time.😮 He impressed me!🎉❤
Great Reaction 👍🙏
Letting go .
I been letting go for forty years but thank you for recognizing.
Some people have trouble expressing feelings, one can grow old searching for the gold to rescue them to express how they really feel..

Here are some Neil Young suggestions: "Harvest," "Cowgirl in the Sand," "After the Gold Rush," "Southern Man," The Needle and the Damage Done," "Hey, Hey, My, My (Into the Black)," "Tell Me Why," and "Don't Let It Bring You Down."
