Much love from freezing Manitoba 🇨🇦🥰!! Omg we have finally caught up binge watching all your videos!! We absolutely love your channel and you are a big inspiration for us as you are living our dream. We sold our house and bought an RV and a 22 ft Tanzer to learn how to sail here on Lake Winnipeg. It’s so exciting to live vicariously through you until we can set sail in our future blue water sailboat 💕
That’s amazing! Happy you guys are following along from back home! We had a 22ft for 2 summers on the lake in Ontario as well! Maybe we’ll see you out there one day! ⛵️
What! No big toe amputation? No big gobs of bandages oozing blood? 👍😉🙂 BTW, your experience may vary, but is hurts less if you do the bandages and stitching yourself. 👍🙂
Fun to see some conflict! It's good to post this kind of stuff some times. Makes you guys seem even more normal and real. It just makes the good stuff more compelling.
I think the "sea moss" you came across is a type of red algae. Once harvested it is dried in the sun for a few weeks until it turns white. You can then boil it down to form agar jelly. We used to do it when I was living on a little volcanic island South of Tokyo.
It’s nice to see the dinghy chaps holding out pretty good considering you use your dinghy quite a bit!! Awesome job by the way!! Your videos are very informative and fun to watch!! I’m working on selling my home up in Thunder Bay than sailing down and doing the same thing!! I hope I find you guys!! Gawd I have a million questions!!
If you can sub cool your empty gas bottle even in cool water for ten minutes and the gas will roar over but you can over fill a bottle like that. The decant bottle is best left in the sun to give you a better flow. Hope that helps you. Travel safe mate
Aloha from Maui, stoked you found propane and get it when you can for sure you never know the next time it will be available but that tank looked a bit light or Travis is super strong 💪 Enjoying the channel, I'm a newbie viewer. 🤙
@@simoneclarke5104 Ah! The township of Dunotar? An old friend might/not still be a denizen of the area… most went to the metropolis of GIMLI 👍🙂 anyway seasonal greetings. 🌟✨🙂
... ouch .... unfortunate mishap, looked sore .. always a quandary, take the flap off now or see if it reattaches or dry's up and has to be removed after all .. yes letting air at it is a good thing as is keeping it protected and clean when you are exploring ...... always wonder if there is a universal kit of adapters for propane tank filling ... shame the guy did not take your tank and get it filled at the depot when he got his filled, the you would have had a full tank and as he would too ..... are your stanchions stainless, if so, could grind that corner down smooth, so it is less aggressive .... so! and the best segment of the whole vlog was the octopus footage, don't get me wrong, great vlog as per usual ... thx for sharing Travis & Steph .... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
If the flap dies it is more painful/uncomfortable to cut it off later when it is all stiff and crunchy and/or there is inflamed and infected tissue involved. But it also painful when it is a fresh injury and all ouchy still. It's a toss-up sometimes. With a foot injury it'll heal a lot faster I think if the skin lives rather than a big hole or chunk missing in the skin. It's even worse when there is a ripped piece of nail involved and maybe even part of the cuticle hanging in the breeze. Been there...nasty injury all the same.
Welllll, I know ye all are new to this and all, but there really is a damn good reason why we wear boat shoes. Dislocating a toe far off shore is not something you want. You are on a working machine, not the beach. Think about that. Love you guys, Merry Christmas and all my blessings.
Yep boat shoes can definitely be helpful but not when we’re constantly in and out in the Caribbean while anchored nor when we’re stepping back onto deck after snorkeling Merry Christmas and thanks for watching!
@@SailingJibsea yes they are, done been there and done all that; it's just like keepin yer britches hiked up. Honestly, you will learn the easy way or not. No more tears from Steph!
The cost of repairing human body damage can be considerable and an emergency that could be avoided can be very devastating. I have well over 60 years of experience on the sea, both commercially and pleasure; everyone on my vessel wears shoes! Also quite embarrassing to be plucked from the boat by a helicopter $$$$$$
I hope Steph's toe healed up ok. Do you guys carry antibiotics? With the salt water and walking on it that kind of injury can be tough to heal up properly on a cruising boat. I bet Travis is used to self-inflicted injuries back in his former job. He must have some serious practice in "self-repair." :D I know how you feel about the LP supply on the boat We have two 20lb steel BBQ tanks and as soon as we run out of one and switch to the other tank it feels like the clock is ticking and we need to get the empty one filled as soon as possible even though we usually get 2-3 months out of each tank depending on the weather and what we are cooking/baking. We have had a tank with a slow leak at the valve run out in a week or so once because of a cracked seal inside the valve connection, and have seen other valve issues where the new tank would not even open up. We often will use the exchange tanks rather than searching out an LP refill place. But we have found bad valves and bad rubber seals in the refill tanks here in the US. They don't do a very good job inspecting them when they refill which is scary in itself. Once when I threaded the hose on it went POP and instantly pressurized our system even though the valve was still closed. The only reason it didn't all leak out before that was because of the safety valve holding it closed until I connected the hose to it. So just because you have another "full" tank is no guarantee that it will work or last and not leak slowly out. Or even leak really rapidly if the rubber O-ring inside is totally split. We hang our bottles out over the transom under a fitted sunbrella cover so no danger of the gas getting into the boat at least. We also have an adapter for using the green disposable camping bottles but they only last a few days and are really expensive to use like that. We cook a LOT and mostly from scratch so without gas we really can't eat, and there will also be no coffee in the morning! Running out for even a day would be awful. I'd rather run out of diesel I think. Still, with all the issues with the exchange tanks, and them costing a little more than a refill it sure is handy. They are almost always close by to wherever we are in the USA at least.
We have a suitcase scale, just a cheap $20 thing from online that hangs from something overhead and then you can hang something from it and read the LCD screen. I think it does 0-40kg fairly accurately which can be used to measure an LP tank. One could measure it the next time it is empty and then they will know how much fuel is in it when they measured it full, half-full or whatever. I've never actually gotten around to using it on our boat. It has hung in our hanging locker for years since we started cruising. It was pretty accurate back when I used it to weigh bikes when I was building them as a hobby in Chicago. I checked it against some of my dumbbells and then on my other scales to compare. Remarkably accurate for something so cheap.
Yep the climate was too humid for the peaks from the textured roller to fall nicely as opposed to yielding an actual sharp texture. We’ll have to redo parts of it with our extra paint in cooler temps!
Hopefully you won't get gangrene on your toe and have it spread all the way up your leg. It would be tough to get the whole leg amputated at a small island hospital where all the reject med school students practice........Next time wear some steel toe boat shoes.
Poor girl, a small slice of the toe...yes, I feel sorry.
Pretty Island. Cool Turtle Race. Hand feeding an Octopus, how cool is that.
Hey Travis, next time you want to hold a critter race, draw a circle and drop the critters in the middle.
Nothing too easy when you're remote. But you got it done. ⛵
Great video, sorry about your big toe, it looked very painful. Thank you.
Love Union Island.

Great Video! I miss Grenada and SVG. You will love Tobago cays
Sea moss is sooooo good for you. Has so many nutrients in it. My in laws get it shipped from Grenada and we wash it and put it in our morning shakes.
Lesson learned: don’t blame others on your mishaps. Wear shoes when walking on the deck.
the octopus up here on the west coast are a little bigger
Nice job on the new opening!
Thank you!
Travis handled the injury like a pro IMO. The patient on the hand might have been a tad difficult…lol.
Lmao!
Sounds like we better try and top off propane here in Tyrell Bay!!!

Click bait got you a thumbs up. I’ll watch the video later.
Tank to tank fill. Maybe 1/2 full, maybe 3/4 full. A.lot of gas not liquid
We’ll see how long it lasts!

Unfortunately that guy on the dock was lying....... they've seen that same one 1000xs ....... just buy a local tank....
FFS, you put kiwigrip on WITHOUT the textured roller WHICH creates the NON SKID .....kiwigrip needs to be aggressive WITH the roller or its SLIPPERY.
