Right on!! I just bought one at the Alamo music Center in San Antonio, Texas. I believe this video does the most justice so far in regards to this guitar and you really go into detail and I appreciate that.
Right now I have an Ibanez acoustic that is a pretty great guitar for what I paid for it ($350 on sale) no electronics or anything like that, and honestly, I’m content with it. But I’ve been looking for an upgrade, and I’ve been looking at Taylor’s bc they have some guitars in my 1-2k price range that I like, and I’ve played them and they are outstanding guitars! I’ve been looking at the 214ce K SB, bc it is a beautiful guitar, and right in that price range. Well, I was looking on sweetwater today, and found this one. I liked how it wasn’t just basic dot inlays and I liked the bronze tuners, but I didn’t know it came with a hard shell case! Also, my family has gone to Maui Hawaii a few times so it really holds a special place in my heart, and having a guitar made out of koa would I guess continue to be more special in a way, seeing as the wood comes from Hawaii! I think I’ll just save a little longer and get a few hundred bucks extra and buy this guitar instead. Awesome review!
I've had this guitar for a few years now. It was my first nice guitar. I really love it for finger-picking and softer warm-sounding songs. And it's freaking gorgeous! I was playing one at my local shop a bit and liked it, but found one online with a stunning flame to the wood and pulled the trigger. But I do want another guitar now. It's a wonderful guitar, but I'd like something that projects a bit more and has a more traditional sound. I'm thinking I'd like a dreadnaught, ideal would be something with the sound and good playability. I'd love a Huss and Dalton TDM but at max 2k. Any recommendations?
For a traditional dreadnaught with more projection and sub-$2000, we'd recommend either the Martin D-12E or D-13E. D-12E: www.long-mcquade.com/145372 D-13E: www.long-mcquade.com/220710

Just bought one from Sweetwater. No regrets.
Is it solid koa back and sides?
Nope. It's made with layered back & sides. 👍
😂😂😂😂
No it's layered back and sides.

This or Taylor 717e Builder’s Edition?
What do you have the budget for? There's nearly $2000 difference in price between the two.
Nice guitar. That mic sounds awesome, and the expression system sounds terrible.
It might not be to everyone's taste, but it would still be immensely valuable for live use or blending in with a recording.
