Thankyou so much for posting this background and stunning music. I am hooked! I’m so glad you felt moved to present this works of hers, and thanks also for your evocative performance. With all good wishes. Richard Forshaw. 🎶
Not easy to interpret. Most play it very Debussy-like, what you (fortunately) don't do. Boulanger's prelude en ré here has that typical French catholic idiom that I love and still hear when talented old school organ players improvise in Paris. d'un vieux jardin is such a masterpiece. It evokes what I see when I look at old grape vines. They have something magical. Thanks for sharing your passion for Boulanger with us.

Thank you very much for this video about the history and music of Lili Boulanger, I’ve always loved her music and it’s great to see such a wonderful showcase of who she was and how great her music is.
Stunning. I've conducted almost all of Lili's choral-orchestral work (psalms 24, 129, 130 and the Funérailles) but this was my first time hearing these piano pieces. Amazing how much there is to discover and how consistently excellent the quality is. Bravo to you on these excellent performances!
After knowing her life story, I feel much more connected with the music, especially this is a brand new composer to me. Her music goes right down to the soul. Thank you for such a beautiful interpretation, powerful and yet so colorful and sensitive!
MERCI! C'est très profond et visionnaire!!
thanks for playing this pure direct engaging music to us. for me it is a completely surprising discovery. deeply saddening this composer almost had no time to let her art grow further.
Thank you for posting both your elegant performance but most of all your amazing insight and explanations of Lili Boulanger’s piano music. Lili Boulanger has always been one of my favorites and most admired of all female composers.
Thank you, M. Cirse, for your nearly poetic description of these musical works. The French texts I typically read are mostly analytical or commercial, so I was very pleased to read your richly lyrical depiction of this music.
Thanks Duco for everything you have done in this amazing video, with music of a really briljant composer!!! very well played, especially the theme with variations
Magnifique !!!
I just founnd out about Lilli, and it brought me to your site. Thanks so much Duco for helping to teach us about this unjustifiably unheralded genius. I hear a little Debussy, but I am not going to infer she's taking or stealing from he or Ravel, when impressionism was the ruling sound of that era.
Prachtig gespeeld, heb ervan genoten bedankt!
Thanks, Helena! Nice channel you have. You might be interested in the piece my father Simon Burgers wrote for solo harp, which you can find here ruclips.net/video/yG5r5zmcXoE/видео.html.
It's funny because I actually discovered your channel knowing that Boulanger played the harp too so was curious about her work, lovely surprise that your dad wrote a piece for harp
@@HelenaRicci I am Duco's sister and Simon's daughter. Would be really great if you could also play Simon's harp piece!! I am just checking out your channel and I also love it. Our mother is a harpist :-) Viva la musica...
@@lauraburgers142 hello Laura, thanks so much, it's a small world then. Simon's piece is great fun and rhythmical I like it, I have put it on my contemporary list actually so when I need one will look at this. For now working full on my 2021 programme but thanks for sharing it's always exciting to discover new harp repertoire
Beautiful playing! I was wondering which edition (or publisher) you used for the Theme et Variations? It’s so hard to find a hard copy edition of that piece.
Nice overhead camera view when playing the piano. But, I'd prefer a camera on the piano looking straight ahead at Duco rather than watch him swivel around to face the other camera.
Is there information if Lili (and her sister ) used or preferred a specific piano tuning temperament per composition ? Was the preferred tuning frequency 440Hz In that period ? ( and do you use it )? Thanks beautiful play !

Very nice and informative video, and the performance is very nicely recorded. Extremely nice playing, and the initial idea is great.

Mooi hoor! Aangrijpend verhaal over zo'n veelbelovend doch veel te kort leven, en vervolgens fraai gespeelde muziek.

At 10:14 to 10:33 That is really nice
Could it be your piano needs tuning?

You have to be kidding. Your face says it all.
