I'm sure this is a stupid question but is there a reason why you have the brackets facing the same way and not symmetrical or does it not matter? Brilliant way of doing it, thanks for the tips 👍( plumbing apprentice)

Coz he’s used the short side of the bracket if he turned it the other way round to match the way the other bracket is facing the bracket on the back of the radiator wouldn’t clip into it

Ellis's comment hits the nail on the head, well done all.

Shouldn't the plastic inserts (to stop the radiator rattling) be placed onto the brackets before you draw your pencil mark on the bracket? Otherwise the radiator will sit a few millimeters higher than your measurements which could be a problem if you are fixing to existing pipework.

As a diyer of 20 plus radiator fixes I never had a proper system but will use yours for sure. Lots of good tips but the marking of the bracket with a pencil line may be a bit too precise as could you not simply place the bottom of your bracket on the wall mark ? Have you got a vid on piping in the rad from that position with any nice copper bending or just straight fit. Looking forward to a simple vid on how to hang a bar rail radiator on those horrible curved supports and what the hell you do if the wall is hollow for any heavy rad 😀

Best tip for getting tail lined up with valve on existing pipework that has no movement

Measure from the floor to the center of the valve, let's say that's 10cm, then measure from the centre of the rad tail to the bottom of the back plate, let's go 5cm for that, then add the two measurements together, 15cm. Now, from the floor, measure up to the 15cm mark onto the wall, once you've installed the bracket to that mark, the back plate should sit at that height and the valve will line up with the tail.

My builders binned the radiator brackets for my bespoke old radiator. Is there anyway to get radiator brackets made?

Hi Andrew, thanks for your comment. If you haven't already please like and subscribe to my page as it really helps.
This varies greatly on what part of the county you live in and if its a straight swap or relocating a radiator, based on this it could be anywhere from £80 - £1000.
      Hope that helps.
