Never rode DD (or the former name as some prefer), but I admit, least it's a nice nod. Though I wonder what they did with the tri-wizard cup that sat in the middle of the pre-que.
@@UrSammich I don't think they did. It would be odd to have a nod to the retheme of the original ride. Most people were fans of the original theme and not the retheme...
Coaster Labs Retheme to Harry Potter was better
@@GhostRider-tf8xv not if you had seen the original theming. It was top notch. Regarded as the best queue on earth by many. The potter retheme was not regarded as great by many, just a quick last minute solution to appease JK Rowling.

As cool as the preshow was I feel it was a bit of a missed opportunity to give us a chance to see Charlie Weasly for the first time. I mean he works with dragons so I mean it would've fit but that's just me.
That would have been amazing but even heavy fans of the film would be lost.
Jerry Leal agreed. Last time I was on the Gringotts ride I was trying through the whole line to convince this woman that Charlie existed...she simply couldn’t grasp it :( one of the biggest letdowns of the film franchise
For those complaining about Hagrids performance, his actor has recently fallen ill so most likepy during the recording he wasnt in tip top shape and since they needed the pre show by the promised opening date probably couldnt wait for the possibility of him getting better. And if you're wondering why they didnt just use a stand or just have him voice someone act well then theyd get backlash for not having the Real Hagrid

So they did use an acting double for the filming of this. The performance you see here is a composite of the two performances. Head of Robbie and everything else is another actor.
Something people also don't realize is it is difficult to act when you are acting to " someone who isn't there". And when you don't have *nearly* as large or a special effects budget. They weren't making a movie this time, it was a short blip, so they were never going to be able to put as much work into it as the brilliant movies.
Also final follow up. It reminds me of Hagrid when he is nervous, so it kinda feels a bit in character. This would be his "first time taking so many on a motorbike trip" and it reminds me of the similar nervousness that he had when he taught his first magical creatures lesson. Hagrid is supposed to be a little awkward when he is doing new things involving people. It's magical creatures he has completed confidence in. I think it is cute!.
Dueling Club with the Dueling Dragons are amazing
its probably an easter egg to pay tribute to a ride that used to be there which is dueling dragons

Yeah, can fat guys ride this? I was barely able to get on Gringott's and was uncomfortable as hell for me.
Banks Lee at attractions magazine put up a video showing he fit the motorbike but not the side car. If that helps.

He has some illness thats holding him back i believe
he has a blown out knee and can't walk. all the cartilage is worn out and he was going for surgery. its probably all he can do to stand up, they could have done something else, this just makes him look old and sad. sometimes you have to change plans, and this would have been a good time.

Not entirely for sure but it almost looks to me like Hagrid is either partailly cgi or entirely. I know Robbie Coltraine can't even really stand. I wonder if they had to cgi his body and then maybe add his real head or something on to it. The movements just look real wonky to me.

On 7:47 I just saw tim and jenn tracker and they’re going to ride hagrid's roller coaster. And to me i’m very 😆.

Tim said that they weren't able to participate in the soft-opening. (And Jenn is pregnant so I doubt she would be able to ride it anyway)

The two dragons can be seen on the walls where the word dueling club is. So there are definitely some things worth looking for

Wish Mrs. Molly Weasley was in other preshows, think of Ginny and Bill, cry for Fred, use her tissue to blow her nose, she woulda blow kisses at us.
Woah. They definitely spent all of the money on the ride. Because that preshow was awful 😂 everything looks a bit unfinished to be honest. But I cannot judge until I see the full ride. The line itself however is somewhat empty. They really need to add some more boxes, plants or other decor to fill in the empty spots. I am still really really excited for this! I am going in two weeks

Brian Orozco I just saw the full ride. It’s really good. I have a few problems. The animatronics are not advanced like universal claims. They are good but I have seen better at Disney from the 60s. And I am disappointed that they didn’t slow down on fluffy. Other then that, it’s a really well themed and amazing ride. Full of heart and practical sets. I am a story kind of guy. It isn’t the best story but it is sweet for all of the family and will be a promising addition to the land. I am proud of universal for going back to practical. I hope they learn from this and make the next ride even better! Let’s cheer for universal on this one
SpoonfulForYou Exaxtly! I Hopefully we will get to see more of this in the future, and will also bring back hope to future Universal attractions. Ever since they had been purchased by Comcast, They kept relying WAY too much on simulators, screens, mediocre storytelling, and tame kid-friendly attractions, as opposed to the more practical, immersive storytelling, and more intense thrill rides that they are best well known for.

So far on 6:43 this is way better than the dueling 🐉 roller coaster.
That Hagrid performance is weird. He looks absolutely bored with it. Kind of ruins that part.

you can see an on-ride POV of this ride by another user named the potter collector and alicia said the train was supposed to stop when in hagrid's hut but it kept going

Of course ever since the 5th film, hagrid hasn’t been the same. It doesn’t look much better here. He’s so.....dull. And lifeless. That’s how I describe it. 1-4 had hagrid as a harmless kind giant who knew a lot but was bumbling and occasionally stupid. But his heart was gold. Always caring about Harry. A father figure and he tried to live with his gigantism without caring what others thought. Hagrid had style. Don’t upset him. New hagrid is completely dull without any life. He’s stupid, careless and barely has an lines. Just a lifeless giant. It’s a shame because hagrid was one of my favorites in 1-4. But here, he’s.....so darn boring
