  • I go into more detail about how to work with and edit track pieces, lines, surfaces, rectangles and circles. Plus how to enter text and a bit more about using the ruler. This video should be watched somewhere between video 3 and video 5.

Vinny, it looks great, 3D printing has opened up to us modellers items that are not cost-friendly for the to manufacture. Cheers

20 years or so ago I built a nice 4 x 6 N Scale layout. Long story short it has been in a back garage covered up and up against a wall for 15 plus years. A month ago, I set the layout up and am getting it running again. Trains have changed since way back when to now with DCC and what all that brings. Anyways I got the train bug again and want to do a bigger layout than what I previously built. I purchased Anyrail and I just wanted to say thank you for the videos that you have made to help others use this program. They have been very helpful to get me started in my next train project.
    Thanks again,
    Glenn

      Glenn,
Thank you for the kind words on my videos. I'm in the same place you are. Haven't had a railroad for about 20 years. Trying to get this one going and want to do DCC but I am surprised (shocked?) at the price of HO DCC locomotives. Even rolling stock seems to be very high priced, but the detail in this stuff is so much better.\
Got some more videos on the way.
      Thanks again!
      Dave

@@steampoweredradio2981 I have experienced price shock myself lol. Santa brought me a new DC loco for Christmas that if I bought it, it would have been about 100 dollars but this engine compared to what I had, 1000% nicer with details and just a larger loco.

Earned my Sub. Just got Anyrail today..err, yesterday (after midnight now it seems) and your videos on it REALLY helped my understanding it. It sure beats graph paper heh heh. Basement is 25x40 and I'm allowed about 32x25 of it. (Got to love a good woman!) Branch line operation w/ single track main with about 6-7 customers. Got 19 "nice" cars and 6 nice locos w/DCC. Your detailed videos has made me want to make my RR happen. Thank you good Sir. Ohh, forgot to mention it'll be N Scale and the layout will be hung from the floor joists. Mostly scenery with easy operations and point to point with continuous run if wanted. Sorry for the long post but got bit by the bug.

Hi. Glad the videos are helpful. I am jealous. Living in a California home you just don't get nice basements. My railroad room is 10 x 15 feet, but I need to protect about three feet of that for closet and storage access. I seriously considered putting it in my living room which is 12 x 20 (being divorced has its advantages for layout locations) but that seemed kinda foolish after I gave it more thought. Add a second floor to the house maybe? Dave

at 7:20 when you are talking abut lines, you can specify and grow the length of a line. Go to the lines endpoint and for an example if the line is 24 inches in the x axis enter what is needed for the new length. The line will then grow by the additional amount. Yes it would be helpful if we could simply grab the end point and pull it to its new length much like what is done with the track features. Great instructional videos. I am enjoying learning this program.

William, I suspect that the AnyRail program will continue to evolve and this feature will become available in later releases. Being able to stretch a line would be really handy if you want to stretch at an angle. X-Y does get a bit tiresome after a while. I need to re-do that Video 42 because I have learned a few things since it was posted. I'll get around to it soon.

Have you covered how to add to a building in another video? Specifically I am referring to the section of the roundhouse you brought up. Can you add additional sections together to make a larger roundhouse with additional stalls like you could with the Walthers cornerstone structures?

      Derek,
Thank you for the nice comments about my videos. I think in one of them I briefly mention adding buildings. That subject might make a good video for the future. Let me take a look at what that video might look like. If you have any other suggestions on things you would like me to cover or maybe a subject that I have already done but you think needs more clarity, let me know.
      Thanks for watching!

Hello Steam Powered Radio. Your series on Anyrail is remarkable in its clarity of explanation and extent! I have been saving the videos to watch but I cannot find any between 31 and 42. Is that correct? Thanks for providing such a wonderful series. James.

Hi James, thank you for the nice words. The title of part 42 is a joke and refers to the answer to Life, the universe and everything from ‘the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy’. When I started I never thought there would be any interest in my videos and I would maybe make 10 at most. I made #42 right around #6 and came up with the title and decided #42 would be amusing. Since then the videos actually got viewed and I made many more. I will soon do videos 32-41 so this one will not be out there by itself anymore. Take care, Dave

The sad reality is that the computer designed to figure out what the question was was accidentally destroyed when the hyperspace bypass was put in.
