Kamloops never ending single track! ︱Cross Training Enduro shorty

- www.crosstraini... tractionerag.com Kamloops dirt riding, arguably some of Canada's best dirt riding. And certainly the widest variety. Alpine regions. Semi arid scrubland. Lush forests. Mountains. Plains. And the Traction eRag guys have based themselves in this enduro heartland. The BC dirt riding guys have been cutting new tracks on their property that will link up with the existing network. Today we are riding a new track for the first time. The guys have cut a new Kamloops enduro track that adds to the incredible network of single track. The only problem is we aren't sure if we can ride this bit of Kamloops dirt riding. Matt is up first. The problem? Slippery rocks, then up a steep section with angled tree roots, then a tight turn to the left. Matt plays it safe and ghosts the bike up. I'm next. And I'm worried. Very easy to stall this cross country racer with its high first gear. I can picture stalling and falling backwards onto that log or the rocks. My gonads are much smaller than Matt's. I opt for the slow way. There's virtually no run up. It's all slippery. And the rear wheel is bound to slip out on the off camber. Damn. It looked so easy when we walked it earlier. Oh well, time to just push and shove. So much for all my hard enduro techniques and Kamloops dirt riding. Next it's Dallas. This ex-professional basket ball player is the only guy I know who can make a Husaberg look small. Dallas has the same dodgy knees problem as me so I'm sure he'll take the safer option too. Interesting, he's starting in the water for extra run up. A good idea he gets further up than I do. We are cutting all these Kamloops enduro tracks on the Traction eRag property for future events. Then they will link up with existing tracks beyond the property boundaries. Sections like this BC dirt riding will just be for the advanced riders, most tracks are more suited for beginner to intermediate riders. A big shout out to the Greater Kamloops Motorcycle Association. They maintain a huge network of trails and do the hard yards needed to keep trails open and stay on good terms with the public and relevant government departments. They organise dual sport riding and enduro racing events. If you ever visit Kamloops it's worth becoming a member for Kamloops dirt riding. Canadians do an amazing job with protecting their riding areas by forming clubs and working with the authorities to ensure the future of their sport. It makes me quite embarrassed about the Australian scene where we love to complain but no one is actually willing to lift a finger when it comes to action that might keep our trails open. Enough talking about Kamloops enduro! I'll just show you snippets from all of our riding in the greater Kamloops area. Enjoy.

I took a class with these guys in Kamloops. Excellent class at a great value! If you are anywhere near here, or are travelling through, seriously worth a stop for a class.
I live down the road in Kelowna and I can absolutely vouch for the fact that you could ride the Okanagan valley trails all season every year and always have a blast on new and favourite trails.
Thanks David! I've done heaps of riding around Kamloops, it would be fun to explore more of hte Okanagan valley toward Meg Braap's home turf....
I feel like if you've done coast bc... island bc... and now Kamloops, your gonna end up doing Prince George, Chetwynd (pine pass) and even the peace country (Fort St. John), and all the country west of Williams Lake towards Bella Coola (endless open terrain) . CHEERS! Lots to see and ride here!

My Aunt and Uncle are celebrating their 20th anniversary this summer... Sad to say, but I only wanna go visit them, so I can take my TE250 to Kamloops and Revelstoke!
Ah Revelstoke.... still haven't been there. The guys say the riding is brilliant there too.
I visited in 1980, the only thing I remember was a very BIG lake!
Heaps of small ones too in some places... a place called Barrie had thousands of little lakes and plenty of mosquitoes too lol.

@@crosstrainingenduro ya it's at the top of the valley and the entire Valley is great riding. I personally think West Kelowna has more rideable areas, with Bear Creek attached and the MX track but have to check out Kamloops

Been living and riding in bc almost 10 years. The crazy part about never ridden in Kamloops. But bc as a whole is an insane dirt biking Mecca.

Curious how you would define novice, intermediate and advanced riders. The Dunning Kruger effect certainly allows for novice riders to be emboldened and advanced riders are more aware of what the sharp end of performance looks like. I would be very curious and appreciative to some day hear your thoughts on where the the dividing lines are.
I think it's very subjective so everyone would define it differently. E.g. to me it's less about the actual skill level and the mental attitude. When riders start to realise how little they know, and actively try to improve their riding, I think they've taken that big step to becoming advanced already.
@@crosstrainingenduro I absolutely agree 100%. I know you think deeply about things which is why I would be very curious as to your thoughts on the matter in a long winded format.
Once you get nose blind to the rotten egg smell of the pulp mill, riding there gets better. 25 years ago, those hills saw a lot of mountain bike action. McQueen Lake to Westside Road was epic.

Huge amounts of public land too... I think British Columbia is about 90% public land, most of which you can ride. Similar to other provinces.

Closest single track to Enderby is Silver Creek SDR. Also Vernon has great riding as well but locals in Enderby have some single track as well. Both clubs are on Facebook. Kamloops is a little far to go. But you also have Kelowna to check out as well

Yep, I've had dozens of guys asking where the tracks are and I just say join the local club and pitch in...
As dirt riders we need to stay involved with keeping our trails open. It is so easy to contact our public officials, so just send them an email.
