I wonder if you can retrofit the old stove with the new baffle? Is the new one considered more efficient? Must be more clean burning. Jotul builds a nice stove.
Great video. I could not see if the Vermont castings had also burned up the wood after 2 1/2 hours. What does this say about the stoves effect on creosote building? Also, what are normal cooking temperatures?
I have both stoves deployed in two of my cabins. The newer version with fins works equally well. I would not call it an improvement. I think it’s just an emissions feature and I really can’t tell the difference in performance. I would say don’t be afraid to buy the newer version, it works very well, unlike some other manufacturers.
Thanks for posting up these videos with the comparison. Yours is the only video of this sort I’ve seen so far and I have looked. It’s good to hear both stoves are working equally well.
Any idea why the older 602cb you got has 602N cast into the door surround? Maybe since they were leftover pieces? I just picked up one of these 602cb v1 and it also has 602N on the front (yet has 602cb on the back plate). Also, your comparison video gives me assurance there is not enough difference in v1 and v2 to matter.
Hey one more question- do you have a bottom heat shield in either of your 602? I see it is shown in the schematic, and looks like a simple flat plate with one bolt hole in the center. My used 602cb did not come with it, but it would be simple enough to make.
@@bobdegutis302yes, both stoves have the bottom heat shield installed and I think it’s a good idea. Mine also have the rear heat shield installed. There is a video on my channel for that.
@@offgridsimplicity stay safe, i do stuff like that too, was just on my ladder in my bedroom slippers.. But the 602 is the one i have had my eyes on for upgrades at home. my local supplier will receive several in a few months. great video. Thank You
Not a lot of luck with products from China - all due respect to the people of China. I’d be glad to pay a bit more for a product of any sort made in the USA. Call me crazy if you like, that’s just been my experience over very many years of my life.
Great stoves, I wonder what the purpose of those fins is?

Did you end up finding a place for both stoves? 2 years later would you say the fins of the newer one are a noticeable improvement?

Hello, I am a manufacturer of wood stoves in China, do you need to buy this product from China?😊

Euro "eco" version seems way more advanced
Chain saw in flip flops and shorts,no safety glasses . Oh what could have gone wrong, but it didn't. Some one has broken the first rule of stupid.
I broke at least 3 rules of stupid LOL. You should see me weld in my flip flops.
