I never brought any of those ftdi programmers and always use Arduino Uno to program attiny85, esp12e etc.😀
1) you do not need to desolder the chip on the board. You can hold it in reset instead. 2) the target chip needs a bootloader preprogrammed otherwise this method will not work! Cheers.

Dislike!! Why?? Simple, rx/tx serial uploading needs obviously a bootloader to be on the chip with the correct fuses set to program itself...Common knowledge! I challenge you to show us how to upload a bootloader using only ch340 and NOT an isp programmer
You can't upload bootloader with just ch340 but you can upload bootloader with atmega328 wich had bootloader before. Look up for arduino as ISP programmer.

You should read about "ICSP".
You can't program small PIC microcontroller which doesn't have UART.

without bootloader it is not possible. And to burn bootloader we need separate ISP .
I think you need a bootloader for all the ICs to program in this method. But for 89s51/52 is it possible?

If you wanna do anything like this just buy a usb to serial TTL module. This is nothing more than that. and it's not possible to program any microcontroller with this method unless the microcontroller has a pre-installed serial bootloader on it. So many people are amazed by this video without knowing the actual fact. Good luck have a great day everyone.👍

SO I have to remove the atmega ic from the arduino nano.......then I have to connect it with another ic or pro mini or another arduino nano....and set connection like you said....then I can able to upload the code....

Great video! I have one question without having a proper bootloader how is is possible to directly program a blank Atmega microcontroller? As far as I know the only way to interface is via SPI. Also, how can you use this for PIC microcontroller programming?

Ground the reset pin of Arduino nano and you can program the other Ics without removing the atmega328 from nano with hot ait

in the schematic of the TTL-Converter, in what you will be using the CTS pin of the CH340G.
This is not usable pin for this kind of programer, use DTR as reset

@@arifqurbanov2159 arduino can only support the compatible devices if the appropriate toolset installed. for programming PIC you need PICKIT3 or 4 (older PICkit2 )

Very usefull video. But you don't have to remove the microcontroller for the nano. If you just set the reset to GND, it makes the same purpus.
No it will not work, Because this method working for ISP programming purpose. But in this case already connected RX & TX Between both IC, so that is why definitely you should to remove this IC

cant u just hold the reset button on the nano or just flash a bare minimum sketch on to it and literally get the same result no need to remove the ic, instead the nano is better suited as an isp programmer, also please can u make a usb c varient for that custom ch340 board
In this case you don’t need reset connection
actually you can use software serial sketch with both hard and soft serials in equal baud rates. only problem could be if you need a DTR pin. as it will keep on resetting the arduino. that's the reason he removed it. instead he could have simply bought a new usb-serial chip module

This method only works if the MCU's you're going to program has an bootloader already on it. Bare IC's without any bootloader will not accept code directly over UART pins and in that case your method fails.

@@EtDiscover yes 328 do not have an USB but it uses serial interface to communicate with PC. arduino as ISP is nothing but making a standalone ISP programmer using arduino(ATmega328+usb serial).
and yes it cant support all mcus. but only those, are supported by AVRdude
